san francisco sunset district. the blast on 20 2nd avenue cost one home to collapse. one person was found dead in the rubble. lena howland is live near 20 2nd avenue. lena: about 21 explosion first happened, this block is still completely shut down with a very heavy police and fire presence as investigators are working to figure out what happened behind us yesterday morning. most neighbors were allowed to go home last night but some did not as there is still five homes on the block evacuated. our after it happened with san francisco firefighters lined up shoulder to shoulder as rescue crews made a grim discovery, recovering the body of someone who had been inside the home when an explosion nt off earlier in the day.

that person was unaccounted for for several hours until search k9 teams were brought in to help. another person that was inside did get seriously injured, as well as a firefighter who responded to the incident. one woman knows the people who lived inside the home. she was sitting in her car about to take her daughter to school. [explosion] >> i thought it was a bomb. i thought a bomb went off. my windows shattered in my car. it was a husband, disabled wife and a home nurse. the home nurse came running out and she was half charred. hair curled up because of the flames. lena: firefighters say at least two homes were knocked off of their foundations, sing at least three nearby homes and five cars

inside a san francisco synagogue will be back in court next week. the man stood before a judge for. the first time since his arrest. the 51-year-old is facing felony charges and hate crime allegations. surveillance video shows him walking into a synagogue on balboa street and firing a gun loaded with blanks. according to the da, hate crime -- tied to social media posts. kumasi: authorities say have busted a state wised retail theft organization targeting apple stores. eight people are in custody this morning. here is a look at some products recovered during the arrest. thousands of dollars worth of iphones and other electronics. . the attorney general said the suspects stole $1 million in goods between august of last year and last month. >> this goes far beyond petty theft and shoplifting. this is organized criminal activity and we will not put up

a live look from our east bay hills camera. spotty showers this evening. we are warming up on sunday. sunday will be the better of the two days this weekend. yesterday was nice and mild. it feels cooler in the 50's and 60's. it is a level 1 light evening into early saturday. the biggest impact will be some slick roadways. we have a high surf advisory along the coastline for some breaking waves with the system. rainfall totals on the lower end, that is why it is a level 1. there could be some areas of downpours, coming in with maybe a half inch of rain. that will be very few cities. some snow coming to tahoe. most of this will fall in the overnight hours. three to six inches. that will probably lead to some slick roadways. not a huge impact for a winter storm.

reggie: a texas mother's wanted after investigators say her two young children were found in deplorable living conditions. they are 12 and three years old. they were left alone to fend for themselves for nearly two months. investigators say their mother left them in late september. a warrant for arrest was issued in december. she is still active on social media and has been posting photos. she is wanted on two counts of abandoning or endangering a child without intent to return. >> a 12-year-old cannot take care of a three-year-old for a long period of time. it is dangerous, especially over a month and a half. it is dangerous and irresponsible of a parent. reggie: this mother also has a 14-year-old who is reported as a runaway. all three of them are now safe with a different family member.

after it happened with san francisco firefighters lined up shoulder to shoulder after rescue crews recovered the body after someone who had been inside the home when an explosion went off earlier in the day. that person was unaccounted for for most of the day until search k9 teams were brought into help. another person was inside the did get seriously injured, as melissa firefighter that responded to the incident. after the explosion, this home was one of three that caught fire, according to investigators. drone video shot by a neighbor shows the black smoke billowing into the air. >> i did not see much because i was more worried about my mom, dad. it is sad to think people were in the house. lena: firefighters say at least two homes were knocked off of their foundations because of the blast in this neighborhood.

kumasi: welcome back. some really sad news out of oakland. the owner of a bakery has died from injuries suffered during a robbery earlier this week. gloria rodríguez joining us with the latest. gloria: jen angel was a business owner and her friends tell us she was a political activist and fought for social change. that is how they want her to be remembered, not by how she died. jen angel had been in a medically induced coma sent a robbery on monday in oakland. angel was dragged while trying
