bowl-winning field goal to what you dreamed of as a kid growing up? >> that's what you dream of as a kicker, getting to the super bowl and making the winning kick. that's an amazing feeling. >> reporter: the kelce brothers embracing amid the confetti. >> travis, what did you say to your brother in the hug in the confetti? >> there's nothing you can really say to a loved one in a situation like that. it's a weird feeling. there's nothing i can say to him other than i love him and he played a hell of a season. >> reporter: mahomes winning his second super bowl and second mvp. >> he's mvp. that's all that needs to be said, right? you saw it tonight. >> to be down to a team like that and come back and win the game, i wish i would have made it easier and not be down, but i feel like i play better when we are down. >> reporter: the chiefs and their fans erupting in celebration. >> you got to fight for your right -- >> all: to party! >> reporter: patrick mahomes has been a starting qb for just five seasons, and he already has a case for the hall of fame, and he became the first to become the vice president, super bowl

mvp, and the super bowl in the same season since 1999. he praised jalen hurts after the game. hurts said you either win or you learn. michael? >> reporter: yeah, you know, he's the first guy to do that since 1999. my old teammate, kurt warner, actually did it when he was playing for the st. louis cardinals and, you know, what a game last night. he's right. jalen hurts had a great game as well. i think all football fans are just happy that it is one of these games that lived up to all the hype. will, thank you for that. and in just a few moments, we're going to hear from one of the kansas city chiefs' star players, linebacker nick bolton who scored a big touchdown in the game last night, guys. >> we're looking forward to that. thank you, michael. right now we're going to turn to the shootdowns in the wake of the chinese spy balloon. three more flying objects taken down over alaska and canada, and port huron in michigan. chief global affairs correspondent martha raddatz is tracking the story. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, george. if you are asking yourself why there are so suddenly many unidentified objects flying around, you are not alone, but

after that giant chinese spy balloon crossed the u.s., the administration is taking no chances and have adjusted the radar to catch smaller objects that may enter north american airspace. this morning, questions mounting after more unidentified objects discovered over u.s. and canadian airspace. a third mystery object in just three days shot down by a u.s. fghter jet over lake huron sunday afternoon. according to a senior administration official, this latest object was octagonal in shape, unmanned, and traveling near sensitive sites at an altitude of 20,000 feet. posing a civilian flight risk. first detected saturday as it flew over montana, president biden giving the order to shoot it down once it reappeared on radar out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of military leaders. >> we have been more closely

scrutinizing our airspace at these altitudes, including enhancing our radar, which may at least partly explain the increase in objects that we've detected over the past week. >> reporter: this latest air defense operation coming just 24 hours after another object was spotted over canada's yukon. u.s. and canadian officials ordering it shot down. >> it represented a reasonable threat to civilian aircraft, canadian and american fighter jets were scrambled, and an american f-22 successfully shot down the object. >> reporter: and that incident coming just one day after another unidentified object was shot down off the coast of alaska. three incidents in less than a week after that chinese spy balloon was shot down off the carolina coast, but a senior u.s. official saying these three are different from that spy balloon. none appear to have a payload, and all are smaller. >> it doesn't mean that they are coming from another country.

it doesn't even mean that there are more of them. we're just looking for them, and so we're finding more of them. >> reporter: now intensive search efforts under way. recovery teams in alaska using navy p-8 planes and helicopters as officials struggle to recover and analyze those objects. what a senior official told me late last night was that even though these latest objects have yet to be recovered, they feel confident they were not spy balloons, but rather some sort of meteorological balloon. although officially, george, the administration is not even calling them balloons at this point, just unidentified objects, george. >> it is some situation. okay. let's get more on this right now from rachel scott. rachel, what are you hearing from the white house? >> reporter: yeah, george. well, a senior administration official tells us that the president ordered for that object to be shot down out of an abundance of caution and also at the recommendation of our military leaders who, as martha noted, were concerned about its

altitude and path. the white house clearly erring on the side of caution after lawmakers on both sides of the aisle on capitol hill expressed frustration. republicans initially accused the president of moving too slowly. others are now saying he's trigger-happy, but even democrats have some concerns here. senate majority leader chuck schumer telling you, george, that he wants to know why it's taken the military so long to know about these objects that have clearly dated back to the trump administration saying it's, quote, wild that we are only finding out about this now. other democrats are calling on the administration to be more forthcoming with information. calling on the president to address the american people. clearly there are a lot of questions about this, multiple objects shot down over the last several days. but as of now, the president doesn't have any public things on his schedule today. george? >> and we will be waiting for the chinese response as well. rachel, thank you. >> a subject that kept you busy sunday as well. now to the fallout from the devastating earthquake in syria and turkey.

the death toll continues to rise, and now there's outrage that's growing as turkish officials turn their sights on builders, but critics say te government played a role in poor construction standards. marcus moore is still there in turkey with us for the latest. good morning, marcus. >> reporter: robin, good morning. the death toll now has topped 36,000, and not only did this powerful earthquake topple buildings, but it also destroyed roadways. look at what the violent shaking did to this section of road leading to a bridge in turkey. just jagged terrain here and there's massive slabs of asphalt left cracked and broken. this is one of the reasons why it was difficult to get aid to some of the rural areas, and as the search efforts continue across this region, frustration is mounting. this morning, chances of finding survivors are fading. here a 10-year-old girl is pulled from the devastation 147 hours after the earthquake. every successful recovery considered a miracle. nearly se underneath this building, rescuers in hatay reached this

17-year-old. "i'm not hurt. i fell directly into a hole," she responds. they pull her out to safety, and we first met this family as they held vigil outside a destroyed apartment in gaziantep. the teen telling us he ate flowers in the family living room to survive. rescuers freeing him from that tomb 94 hours after the quake. following his release from the hospital, we were with adnan as he returned to that scene where it seemed the gravity of what he survived is only just beginning to set in. he told us, "i don't know what to say. i have no words." turkish president erdogan's government now facing increasing frustration for what's being called a slow and inadequate response. the rihanna crisis worsening. millions of survivors now homeless and with scarce food supplies, forced to find refuge in tents and makeshift

shelters amid subfreezing temperatures. rebecca, the aid to the families will be critical in the days, weeks, and months ahead here in turkey and syria. >> such a serious need there. all right, marcus moore, thank you. we turn now to brittney griner who was back in public in a big way over the weekend. the wnba star was spotted at the phoenix open golf tournament on saturday. it's only her second appearance since returning home in december from a russian prison. and then last night, griner was out again, rocking an eagles jersey with her wife, cherelle at the super bowl. we know they probably weren't happy with the outcome, but it's so great to see her out and about after that ordeal and all the issues that she faced. >> that's right, but to have her back out there. you're right, rebecca. we have more from the super bowl matchup. michael is a busy man. he spoke one-on-one with one of the champions who had one of the biggest plays in the game. michael? >> reporter: yes, i did, robin. linebacker nick bolton was busier than i was last night. he led the team in tackles and had a chance to speak with him

this morning about making a dream come true in only his second season. >> good morning to you, nick. i really appreciate you taking your time out to join me this morning, and now congratulations. how does it feel to be a super bowl champion? >> oh, man, yeah, still surreal, man. i'm still trying to soak it in, man. i was just telling my teammates and my family, i haven't had a chance to go to sleep yet. we're just enjoying it. we're up and happy to be here. >> i know you had a big play. one of the biggest plays of the night, the scoop and score, a defensive player's dream. the ball had the perfect bounce right into your hands. you take it to the end zone. you said you dreamed about this a few days before it happened. is that right? >> yeah. i kind of had a dream about it i think two nights ago or i guess three nights ago now. i dreamed about it, and it come to fruition, and that play happened. man, it's kind of surreal. i came to the sideline and i was, like, did that really just happen? i couldn't enjoy the moment because i felt like i was living

through a dream again. man, but, it was a great play for our team. we needed it. we found a way to win. >> a great play at the right time at the biggest time of your career. you guys were down by 10 going into halftime. you're going against the eagles team with a great defense, offense is clicking. what was said in your locker room at halftime to help you guys turn it around? >> yeah, man, we understood. we had to just do a little bit better. in terms of penalties or getting off the field on third down and longs. jalen hurts was making plays with his arms and his legs earlier in the game. we had to find a way in the second half to keep coming back in the box on third down and long and keep the ball to the outside and just rally and tackle out in space. we were doing a very good job in the first half, and in the second half we found a way to make it happen. >> i know your mother's been going through some challenges and how important and how special was it to have her at the game to watch her son in one of the biggest moments of his sports career?

>> oh, yeah, man, that was huge. especially because i didn't have the opportunity to have her at the game when i played my state championship game in texas in high school. she had to be at home, and she didn't want to travel because of her health issues, and so having her to come to this game, of this magnitude, and happening the way it did, it's a dream come true. man, give my blessing to god to be in that position and my family to be there as well. >> i think mom deserves a ring. >> oh, yeah, man. she'll probably end up getting that one and holding onto that one for awhile for me. >> yeah. that would make a lot of sense. and you know what -- >> yeah, i'm -- >> have you slept yet? i guess that's the big question. have you slept yet, and what's next? what are you looking forward to? how are you going to celebrate this when you get back to kansas city or when you get back to texas? >> yeah, man, we're still up, man. i'm trying to go on 24 hours in

but another interview with michael coming up, the other big nfl story this morning, damar hamlin. michael had a chance to sit down with the buffalo bills safety for his first interview after his terrifying collapse. his recovery is nothing short of miraculous, michael. >> reporter: you are absolutely right about that, robin. it was so good to sit there and look damar hamlin in the face and just have a conversation. he took the field last night before the game, and he was there with the health care workers who treated him. he showed his love for the women and men who saved his life, and he and i talked about the moment that changed everything, and also what's next for him. >> and action. >> reporter: buffalo bills safety, damar hamlin, has come a long way since collapsing on the field during monday night football just six weeks ago. >> now another bills player is down. maybe hamlin. >> reporter: the 24-year-old surviving sudden cardiac arrest as millions watched on live television. >> well, this is the last thing you want to see. >> let's go back to january 2nd. how were you feeling before the game and when you were out there, normal? >> super normal.

feeling great. >> can you tell me what you remember about the game up until you were hit? >> i remember the things that we were focused on going into the game just trying to get a win. >> in the course of the game, you have the hit. you make the tackle. do you remember standing up after you make that tackle? >> um, that's something i don't really want to get too deep into, into detail. >> the ambulance is out there on the field, and they are intensely working on damar hamlin. >> the assistant athletic trainer, denny, he came out and administered cpr to you, alerted everybody else the situation was pretty serious. >> i owe denny my life, literally. just, you know, he loved to say he was just doing his job, but -- and which is true. that night he was literally the

savior of my life administrating cpr on me, and that's something i'm truly thankful for and don't take for granted. >> have you gone back and taken a look at the hit? >> i watched it once or twice while i was in the much. >> what was it like to watch that? >> just a crazy feeling. something i can't even describe yet, something i'm still processing and something i'm trying to work through, you know, why that happened to me. >> what is the first thing you remember when you started to wake up? >> just hearing family members, my mom and dad, friends that were there, just kind of hearing certain people, certain conversations around me, and, you know, just trying to tie it all together. the first thing i said when i woke up was, did we win? you know. >> yeah, dude. do you realize -- when i saw that, i said, okay. he's an athlete. he's committed because you wake up, and you're sitting there going, did we win? your mind is still on the game. >> i'm competitive, and i'm playing with my full heart and

everything i got in me. that competitive nature in me was still just thinking about the game. i just wanted to know did we win. >> what did they say? >> he said i won. yes, i won the game of life. >> it's true. >> uh-huh. >> did doctors ever come to you and say, you know, this could have gone another way? >> yeah, pretty much. just even saying you won the game of life, that just kind of put in ipepeive for me, you know, hearing from t gsouavwent tlthtaofthe sin of et happened on the field, that could have been the last of me. >> doctors in cincinnati, they called your recovery remarkable. i mean, three days on the ventilator. your neurological function is intact. i'm sitting here talking to you today. i feel like i wouldn't know anything ever happened to you. why do you think your recovery is so remarkable? >> first and foremost, just god. just a blessing, you know. i'm just thankful he gave me a

second chance, you know, just to live normally and just not even -- just come out almost without a scratch on me. just to be able to keep going. >> reporter: after hamlin was discharged from the icu, the question on so many minds, what caused his heart to stop beating? >> you're 24, peak physical condition, can run circles around me right now. how did doctors describe what happened to you? >> um, um, that's something i inofromy exrience in the nfl, they do more tests than anything, and in the course of you having your physical, did anybody ever come back with anything, saying you had a heart issue or anything that was abnormal? >> honestly, no. i've always been a healthy, young, fit, energetic, you know,

human being, let alone athlete. so, you know, it was something that was just -- that we're still processing, and i'm still talking through with my doctors just to see what everything was. >> so you made a surprise appearance with your teammates, and they went crazy for you. they said you were flexing on them. >> yeah. right here just like this. as soon as i got on the zoom call. i felt like it was important just to show strength to them so they could keep going for me, and they were just so happy to see me. so that was like a breath of fresh air. >> how tough was it for you to watch the team in the playoffs and not be out there on the field with them? >> it was very tough. it was super tough. it was an uneasy feeling. i really couldn't -- i couldn't settle in at all. >> i definitely understand that. when you are used to being on the field, it's hard to watch. >> exactly. >>every morning i just -- every morning, every

>> i mean, this immediately goes to joseph baker. >> yes. >> she was a fur woman. i mean, she loved a good fur and let's jump right into it. right? this beautiful coat, african americans have historically coveted and loved furs. this was a vehicle to show kind of our accomplishments at a time in the 1920s and '30s where black people maybe couldn't own property like home ownership. this was a way for them to kind of show their achievements, and mile mark their accomplishments, right? it's also a staple in black womanhood. we hand down fur coats in our heritage. it's a legacy, and a way to show your reverence for other women. i myself have inherited faux fox from an aunt of mine, and i love this. this is a fabulous outfit. a leather pant. >> you're making me tear up because my mama had a fur coat. safe to hold it togeth.nded it .

thodouucer seais going we're thinking about the zoot suit, louis armstrong. >> yeah. louis armstrong. the zoot suit was early street wear. if you can imagine, you couldn't get a zoot suit in the store. you had to get one or two sizes too big and take it to your homeboy in the neighborhood to tailor it up. the predecessor to it was the drape suit, and it would feature a broad shoulder and accentuate that waist and the v-line, but similar to what we saw dapper dan do decades later in the '80s, taking mass produced clothing and tailoring it to the african american taste. >> come on, work it. you like the lapels and everything. last and certainly not least, my producer, mya green, with the beaded dress like that. bessie. >> oh, yeah. >> harkening back to bessie. >> what a beauty in that dress. let's talk about sequin, right? first of all, we see a great example in the studio where

sequin and beading catches the light. we're talking about the jazz era. they're doing all the swing and the lindy hop and that dress was really going to catch that movement if it had beading, and that really comes from the cultural kind of obsession with tut mania at the time. in the 1920s they opened king tut's tomb, and people were obsessed with the trends they saw in the jairo flifs. cleopatra's bob, and the wing liners, but also there were beaded net dresses found in the hieroglyphs, and that trickled down and they embraced that beading and, like i said, they were in those jazz clubs and wanted to k567 that movement. >> that's the first time i've seen mya's legs. it looks good, mya. oh, and you're sporting a look here as well. >> i am sporting a look here as well. so nails are actually historically a class signifier. dating all the way back to ancient egyptians again and ancient chinese culture, women of noble descent would wear more vibrant nails, reds,
