rain and snow to the northeast. 150 million americans are feeling the impact. here, strong winds are leaving many people in the dark. you are looking at the map showing the current power outages. right now, nearly 64,000 are without electricity. most are on the peninsula with more than 44,000 people there in the dark. crews have been working throughout the night to restore power. kumasi: you saw on the map one of the biggest areas with no power is the peninsula, and there was a lot of damage there yesterday from the wind. our reporter has more. reporter: we are at walnut and veterans the power has been completely knocked out to the shopping center behind me, including to this starbucks, which would typically be busy with customers at this hour. clearly, that is not the case

without any power. they are not the only one they are one of about 44,000 customers are alone on the peninsula this morning. now, the gusty winds also causing serious damage in the boulder creek area of santa cruz county. fire officials saying a redwood tree came down on top of a home on bobcat lane. a piece of a tree hit the house and trapped a one-year-old inside. crews were able to tr that child to the hospital but that infant is critically injured. but it is conscious and breathing. >> we were on top of the roof and inside delivery room where they were cutting away the weight of the tree and removing that off of the patient. and then rendering aid as quickly as we could to control the situation. reporter: but the damage does not end there. look at video from the hills above redwood city.

around 4:45 p.m. yesterday the winds ripped a roof off of a home on hillcrest way. the roof was laying in the middle of a roadway, when the san mateo county fire crews responded to the scene. luckily, no injuries were reported. back here on the pen according to the outage map power should have been restored to this area behind me around 2:00 a.m. but four hours later that is clearly not the case yet. kumasi: thank you. people in the south bay have a lot to clean up this morning. fallen trees took out power lines, causing one woman says she has lived in san jose for 20 years and has not seen trees come down in the wind. now she is concerned about the downed wires. >> the old victorians, the

this is abc 7 news. reggie: powerful winds knocking down a tree onto the bay bridge. the damage that caused major traffic delays in rush -- in rush hour. >> the dow plummets nearly 700 points as some big companies announce protections for consumer spending. reggie: from san francisco to sydney, the special off ahead of pride events. >> good morning everyone. reggie: it looks like so much fun. >> i would love to go. it's certainly warmer. some gusty winds this morning. yesterday they were gusting 60 to 75 miles per hour. not as strong but still some issues. oakland gusting 40 miles per hour. sfo gusting to 33.

still out in this redwood city starbucks. you see behind me they typically open around 5:30 in the morning but clearly that's not the cases they are still without power. unfortunately they are not the only ones. power has been knocked out to more than 44,000 customers on the peninsula alone according to our last update from pg&e this morning. these gusty winds massive redwood tree to fall on a home on bobcat lane in boulder creek area of santa cruz county. trapping a one-year-old infant inside. crews were able to safely rescue the child and transfer into the hospital. fire officials tell us the infant is critically injured but still conscious and breathing. elsewhere on the peninsula, the high winds toppled this tree in redwood city. it took out a fence as well as a

nearby power line before landing on top of a car. in redwood city and other tree causing a substantial amount of damage after it fell into this house. take a look at this video coming in from the hills above the city where the winds rifted -- ripped a roof w lyi o topway when san mateo e responded to the scene. luckily there were no injuries reported. according to our last check on the pg&e outage map, power should've restored to this location here behind me and this entire block around 2:00 this morning, it clearly that is not the case just yet. live in redwood city. kumasi: the wind made for a rough day for cars in san francisco. a tree crushed this truck along 3rd street and crews had to bring in a forklift to clean it up. look at this crash on a corvette

near calais and front street's. a parked car, both the tree on it yesterday afternoon. reggie: all lanes of the bay bridge are open after strong winds this tree took out a e was hurt but two cs were damaged. the tree came down on one of the car hoods and the second car crashed into the tree and that led to more traffic. caltrans crews use chain saws cut out the tree. they got the tree in the debris out of their. some san francisco b trips were canceled. all of the afternoon ferry trips on the golden gate ferry were canceled because the wind.
