his first appearance in court today where he was denied bail abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo has the new details. 36 year old peter karasov the san jose man accused of having explosives and his family home on potomac court making his first court appearance friday police now linking him to explosions at two pg&e transformers. not far from where he lived this 21-page criminal complaint bringing to light a december 8th blast that damaged or transformer on thornwood drive outside, oakridge mall, the second happened january 5th on snell avenue in santa teresa boulevard. we're detectives noted damage to a nearby building including multiple broken windows at least 1,000 customers went without power. we're learning information day by day hour by hour and we will continue to learn more as this case comes together detectives credit cell phone data video from a parked tesla and police surveillance. tying. kara sev to the two scenes and leading to his home. we know that we're going forward

with our fbi partners to have a broader scope of this. investigation, but as of right now, we believe that this is the only individual associated to these incidents and these are the only incidents that we know of following his arrest on wednesday. police say a search of his home turned up a large amount of explosive materials and what they describe as an inactive meth lab one with finished product police say carous have admitted to using methamphetamine as a replacement for adderall during the adderall shortage additionally the complaint details the suspects interest in model rockets and setting some off outside his home investigators. say he also admitted to having a difficult time with the war between russia and ukraine since he has family in both countries a motive is still not known although these are the current facts that we have. they may change as the investigation progresses cameras. we're not allowed in court but abc 7 was there as a public defender revealed details of caroussev's life attempting to get him out on supervised release. they say karisve is a software engineer at zukes a company that

develops self-driving cars. he's also a married father of three his children ages one three and five also living at the home in question for out we are very thankful that he is in custody and off the streets among the nine felony counties facing igniting a destructive device arson child endangerment and possessing bomb-making materials only days after this massive response the scene around the family's home remains active with both federal and local agencies on site and police say there is so much material inside the home they expect to be on scene for at least five more days in san jose. i'm a manitou still yo ab 7 news in the north bay students held a walkout today after a classmate died in a stabbing students at maria carrillo high school in santa rosa rallied for more safety on campus. it's insednesday's fatal stabbing of 16 year old at jayden pienta at montgomery high school. this prompted students to demand more action from the school to

prevent similar incidents in the future a friend of jaden expressed her concern and administration and staff members need to care. they don't care and that is why my best friend got stabbed in a classroom a place where we're supposed to feel safe. the 15 year old freshman accused of stabbing jaden and another student have since been arrested. a man was arrested after a wild chase in southern california. take a look at this video the suspect looked to be holding an assault rifle and shooting at police officers. he's shooting he's shooting. god that's that's an assault rifle. geno police of the suspect crashed into another car but refused to stop it ended in harbor city when the driver struck a pole and tried to take off on foot. he then appeared to try to take another car but was quickly detained and taken into custody police say the man is the suspect in a carjacking. new developments with the ransomware attack that happened in oakland last month the hacker group play took responsibility

for the breach on city services data according to sf gate play plans to release private documents obtained during the hack to the public those files include passports ids financial documents and other personal information city officials say they're working with authorities to validate the group's claims. new at 11 all the rain along with customers conserving water has allowed for east bay municipal utility district to put an end to its 8% drought surcharge. the surcharge went into effect in july of last year. so east bay mud could cover its expenses including purchasing supplemental water. however, the latest drought report shows alameda county is still abnormally dry. this means customers must reduce their water use by 10% the storm expected this weekend will dump more snow in the sierra mountains that and the already above average snow levels on the ground could break the existing record set 40 years ago today the california department of water resources carried out the
