but despite the warnings, you know there are those who are relentless. the people who live they are used to this and know what to do, but this time it is not only the snow, but the rain, the flooding and that has both visitors and locals concerned. lake tahoe rental prices on airbnb have been slashed following cancellations. with more snow and now rain in the forecast for the weekend, road conditions are expected to be dangerous. corinne peterson and her group of friends did not want to chance it. >> every single day, there was more going on. more sleet, snow, rain. so, we were just concerned it would be dangerous and there would be a power outage. leanne: city officials in south lake tahoe are reminding visitors the season is far from over. >> we don't want to say don't come to tahoe. if you do, do so responsibly. our resorts are likely to be open later into the season so

there will be time for people to get here. leanne: for those determined to go to the mountains no matter what, remember that timing is everything. caltrans quick map gives you lifetime road conditions, closures, and shows you where chains are required and the location of the snowplows so you can navigate your way in and out of tahoe. today, some roads along the california/nevada border were closed. the only vehicle in sight was this snowplow in crystal bay. this couple made it in time out before the next storm. for this driver, it was a struggle. the jeep was spinning and sliding down ski run boulevard. the national weather service is warning of rapidly deteriorating road conditions. one of the main concerns is the upcoming rainfall on the already heavy snow that could force roofs to collapse. >> it is important that people

sinkhole. dan: sandbag. found people grabbing sandbags in redwood city and palo alto. the last time we saw an atmospheric river come through this topic, neighborhoods were flooded and even parts of highway 101 were shut down and even parts of highway 101 were shut down. . the blue skies overhead. with the atmospheric river going through the bay area again, valley water is hoping to avoid a repeat of january storms. >> we hope it will not be as bad, but in january, that was not forecasted to be bad. it stalled over us. we are taking those same precautions just in case. there's always the possibility mother nature changes her mind. dustin: the southern part of this is supposed to get the

most. places like gilroy that saul serious flooding at the start of the year. this is today. valley water crews spreading out to keep these waters flowing. >> making sure there are no blockages that could cause a backup. and we are just asking people if you see blockages, report them to us. dustin: valley water hard at work filling up sandbag locations across the south bay as well. 4200 bags were dropped off and quickly loaded up in morgan hill. >> we will try to get as ready as possible. that is all you can do. with this kind of weather, you just don't know when it is going to be bad or worse. dustin: areas are forecasted to get more than two inches of rain, leaving creek and stream flooding risks high. 2023 reminds the community of storms from years past. >> 2017, we lost our septic, our pool, fridge, everything.

stephanie sierra joins us with the latest developments. stephanie: that's a lot of concern about what may happen next. as this ransomware group is reportedly carrying out negotiations with federal investigators. the first batch of sensitive data has more than 1500 views on the dark web tonight. we are learning the implications of another leak are not only liklye, but could pose even greater risk. days after the ransomware gang known as play leaked its first batch of stolen data exposing sensitive information of potentially thousands of current and former city employees and business owners, there is now concern another leak may be looming. >> with only a portion of the data leaked, they are hoping the city sees the real threat and they are attempting to go through and get that ransom to be paid now. stephanie: for the past seven years, jake has studied ransomware attacks, including previous hacks by play. he says the group was first

identified in june of last year and gained notoriety after attacking argentina's judiciary of cordova. >> they don't necessarily seem to have one specific target industry or geographical location. they've really just go after who they can gain access into their system with. stephanie: how did these hackers get into oakland's network? it could have been done through a phishing email somebody clicked on and gave up their credentials. >> it could have been done through vulnerabilities. if there was a vulnerability in a system that was not patched. >> this is even more serious now. stephanie: oakland city council members say it is unclear how play accessed the network, but it appears the city did not have the proper protections in place. what happens to this data after it is leaked? >> so after it gets posted on the website, it becomes publicly available. anyone can gain access. stephanie: according to cyber analysts, the data play

allegedly stole and leaked to the dark web has a list of every victim exposed. if you click on a name, a download link will be provided to access their information. >> once it is posted, it cannot be unposted. stephanie: the dark web url linking to the stolen data already has more than 1500 views, adding there is heightened concern the information could be sold to other hacker groups. >> they are trying to identify any big names or high-profile people within it. they will probably start their attacks there. use email, social security numbers, or driver license numbers to commit tax fraud, identity theft. stephanie: problems that may continue plaguing oakland for years. >> we will have to make some budget adjustments to make sure that our technology is in operation, but also the safety features necessary will be implemented. stephanie: gallos says these investments will be tough as the city braces for nearly $200

subtropical air. this area of low pressure will tap into it and the concern is the strong level 3 storm will cause problems from flooding to wind damage to the potential for some mudslides and debris flows. let's talk about the thunderstorm chance. 20% to 30% chance not just in the bay area as we go into tomorrow evening going into friday, but also across much of california. this is going to be a storm that brings with it concerns the next two days a very high likelihood of roadway flooding, stream and creek flooding, power outages, mudslides. the big concern is in the santa cruz mountains. we are looking at a moderate likelihood in places like the russian river and the napa river. those will be worth watching. for the time being, enjoy these views. absolutely gorgeous from san jose to the oakland airport. zephyr cove.

next day, all but five dollars was gone. >> they put glue in the card reader of the atm machines. >> the bank manager said scammers for glue into the slots that victims have to tap. by tapping the transaction window stays open even after the cash comes out, so if a customer walks off without closing the window, a thief can simply step up and make more withdraws. chase said customer should wait for the screen, do you want to do something else? click know to close the session. >> i think i closed it. maybe i left it open. >> they say this scam has been ongoing since last fall yet chase rejected the claim saying that they authorize the transactions. >> why would i make four transactions in one day? the investigator said how do we know you did not steal it? >> i feel betrayed.

>> i will not take no for an answer. >> she filed her claim four times, before they refunded the money but after our inquiries, they refunded all victims in this report saying we have credited our customers and taking additional steps to protect patrons. the tap feature requires entering a pin for each transaction, but thieves have clearly found a way to capture the pins. chase has cover the keypad when you enter your pin, look for tiny cameras, and don't talk to anyone in line. if they're coming up to at an atm but they know they are not supposed to be doing that. dan: all right. [bell ringing ama: a mixed day of trading strung a report with private businesses adding more jobs and four because this quarter. the dow lost 58 points. the nasdaq gained 45 points.

the s&p was up five points. dan: new surveillance video of the man accused of having explosives in his home in san jose. investigators believe this video links him to two explosions apg&e transformers in the past months. we have the story. >> it was a scene that displays neighbors and had local and federal agencies investigating for four days, san jose police say this 36-year-old man had a large amount of explosives in this home. last week, they rebuilt investigation into him started with two separate incidents in december and january, but involving explosive devices that blew up pg&e transformers in san jose. >> a serious tragedy with serious harm and potential loss of life. >> now police say this shows one of those incidents, the video showing what they say is the january 5 incident. >> he is going away on his bicycle after igniting the device.

there you see it go up in flames. >> it was during that january investigation that connection was made to a similar incident in december near oakridge mall or through the surveillance video along with video shot by tesla and cell phone data, san jose police linked him to the explosions. the suspect, a software engineer at a company that developed self-driving car's, was arrested, and now police have released new images found in the home. >> various items, including a homemade explosive, multiple interjec energetic and other materials were also found, pipes, wires, fuses, chemicals. >> there were so many explosives that federal agencies and others had to be called in. >> the amount of potential material at that location could cause a fire or actual explosion to the entire community,
