concerns of a riders, officials are doubling sworn police officers on bart trains starting today, which will mean an additional eight to 18 sworn officers per shift. this comes as part inspector general harriet richardson stepped down four months before her term was set to expire because of what she calls massive issues on bart in a meeting last friday. they say crime also continues to be an issue on bart and is connected to bart not upgrading its gates. 80% of crimes committed on bart are done by riders jumping gat and not paying for tickets. two people got into a train and one of them pull out a gun and pistol whipped the other and the gun went off, injuring that person.
