into the santhe historic bridgen francisco. reggie: you're lucky to have power on this 22. drew: t the strongest pressure ever recorded for a march storm, you felt that in the form of those damaging winds. rain this morning creating the slick travel in the santa cruz mountains. we have moderate snow falling. similar story along the shoreline. for the most part of the north bay it is light, scattered showers. advisories are up through the morning because we have left over on our roads creating a threat for hydroplaning. there is debris because of fallen trees yesterday. the leftover shower is a level one this morning. the biggest concern is slick

travel. your day planner shows the best chance for showers is later this morning. this afternoon also cloudy with temperatures in the 50's. also we will show you our chance of annex storm coming up in a few minutes. reggie: look at this image from space. the satellite view of the storm swirling over us yesterday, slashing those winds across the bay area. kumasi: the winds that came with the storm caused power outages across the bay area. at one point close to 200 -- close to 200,000 customers were in the dark. still a lot of outages this morning but thankfully it is improving. in the last hour pg&e let us know roughly 80,000 customers still don't have power. those powerful winds brought down trees across the bay area. abc from san mateo county with more on the cleanup. they have been through a lot there. >> oh yeah.

they have been through a lot and they are still going through it this morning. that breeze is still here. rain is still falling. let's talk about this inconvenient wake up a lot of the residents and montero faced this morning at around 1:00 a.m.. one resident described seeing -- described hearing a big bang and knowing immediately it was a tree that had fallen. it happened a few miles from where we are standing. let's get to earlier video. giving us a closer look at that damage. the tree came down on three cars parked in the driveway of a home. a resident describing the tree having smashed each of the vehicles. you can imagine the sheer force and weight that caused so much destruction. >> i was sleeping and i just heard bang up. i knew it was a tree. it was really loud and really close. i checked the tree in the back.

i could see the shadow of the tree in the front. i opened our doors and the christmas tree outside our window. >> back storms have saturated storms. powerful winds yesterday did us no favors. in the bay area there is concern what could happen next as these wet and windy weather conditions continue. connecting with that resident, they told me there are five cars parked in the driveway. three of them totaled. we took that drive it to montero where there was no reception, no power. those residents still waking up in the dark this morning. reggie: being blamed for two people dying after two people were crushed by fallen trees. one person died in san mateo county. chp says the person was in a work van when a tree fell and crushed it. this was on alpine drive

yesterday afternoon as crews were working to get the victim out, more trees fell, cursing another car parked nearby. chp says the best advice in storms like this is to stay home. >> the road is so wet, grandma is so saturated and the wind being the way it is, today is not the date to be driving. reggie: crews had to remove trees from the top of the car before they could to it and get the victim out. the second person who died was also in a car crushed by a tree. it happened on stanley dollar drive in rossmore. the passenger in the car died while the driver had it non-life-threatening injuries. kumasi: in newark down the tree crushed multiple people. two people were stuck inside a truck. both were taken to a nearby hospital. only one had minor injuries. another person had to be rescued in their car in san francisco. this vehicle ended up catching on fire. thankfully crews were able to put out those flames.

police say the driver was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries. reggie: scary moments on the bay bridge in the middle of the afternoon commute. pay attention to the back rigs -- to the back wheels of the big rig lifted off the ground in high winds. here is the aftermath. the truck blew over blocking multiple eastbound lanes. the traffic spilled all the way onto the streets of downtown san francisco. highway patrol saying the driver of the big rig was able to get himself out. >> a good samaritan passing through the area picked him up and took them to a local hospital with suspected injuries. reggie: some drivers say it took to an a half hours to get to oakland. heavy rain and wind caused intense swells on the street. that had people looking for other ways home. >> this is the first time it is better. reggie: the winds were so intense ferry services had to be delayed or canceled. kumasi: the roads are back open

near oracle park after damage near the bridge. those barges smashed into each other and the bridge hard enough to break concrete chunks off of the street. the size of the operator house -- the sides of the operator house were also damaged. officials say it is not clear how close the barges were to the bridge before the storm. >> three barges were begging up against the side of the bridge. the way the winds were kicking up the waves, it was just banging back and forth. do a full assessment. former president trump could be indicted as soon as today. how other republicans are responding today. reggie: downed power lines all across the bay area. the work to get them off the roads. drew: i am meteorologist drew tuma. we still have showers this

kumasi: some drivers having to get their cars fixed after trees fell on top of them. this is in san francisco. the person who share this video with us says he checked to make sure nobody was inside the cars. trees caused traffic delays yesterday. the winds were dusting -- were gusting more than 55 miles per hour. drew: chainsaws are going to be put to use today. a lot of trees down.

kumasi: developing news this morning. all eyes on manhattan where an expected indictment against former president donald trump could come as soon as today. the grand jury in the case reconvening this morning. this coming as there are new developments in an different investigation into trump. jobina: a federal judge is asking for more testimony for one of trump lawyers for his handling of classified documents. according to abc news sources, the judge in the case wrote in a sealed filing that the special counsel's office has presented compelling evidence that trump knowingly and deliberately this led his own attorneys about his retention of classified documents after leaving office. he allegedly told them in june that he turned over classified

documents. too much later -- two months later agents found hundreds of classified documents at his home. trump maintains he did nothing wrong. we will wait to see if the grand jury find him guilty in another case where he is accused of paying hush money to stormy daniels. kumasi: gathered on tuesday at near former president trump's mar-a-lago estate in florida. many had to park at west palm beach and walk over to mar-a-lago to show their support. >> he can at least see from video he has people that really love him and we are not deceived by the media. we are not put off what we hear. we still believe in him. >> i refused to surrender on my knees. i will die on my feet for that man and everybody out here. kumasi: meanwhile palm beach police department and the u.s. secret service are preparing for possible protests. reggie: the man accused of

reggie: leaders in san francisco trying to revive a program to address a specific part of the state's homeless population. yesterday outside city hall calling on the city to reconsider a planta into unsheltered homelessness over the next three years. it would add 2000 to 3000 beds. it will come at a hefty price tag at almost 1.5 billion dollars. some homeless advocates argue shelter beds are not the answer. >> if you overinvest in shelter, you drive up street homelessness. reggie: advocates say that is

because in some instances people can become essentially stuck in the shelter and never get connected to more permanent housing. which ins up leaving fewer shelter beds for people on the streets. madalyn is fighting back against the shelter bed cost estimate saying it shouldn't cost that much. he argues what is being done right now isn't working and it is time to try something new. 25 million dollars will be poured into front -- into police funding in san francisco. the board of supervisors just approve the plan for increasing police overtime. san francisco is among many of the sin -- many of the cities in the country having a hard time recruiting officers. city officials say this will accommodate officers working extra because of staff shortages. effort -- with sfpd is they place with the officers, i have been asking for for over a year

it was dark. a lot of people still without power in the montero area. reggie: also in the storm caused a mudslide to spill onto a redwood city street. this is on edgewood road east of interstate 280. it is unclear if that road is still close. heavy rain in san pablo near manor drive are being threatened. streets and driveways the homes are flooded. in some areas you cannot even see the sidewalk. just down the street, wildcat creek is rising and overflowing causing widespread flooding. you can see the strip mall on 23rd street with this parking lot, flooded. kumasi: a driver in santa cruz was hurt after a massive tree came down on his car. it was a national bridge estate part. the driver was able to walk away and a neighbor wants to know what happened. >> i have been watching the street for the last few storms.

china is proposing a cease-fire without russian troops withdrawing from ukrainian land. the plan is a nonstarter for ukraine and the west. nato says they have seen no evidence china has supplied weapons to russia but they have seen some signs that russia is asking china for weapons. which china could be considering. with all of that the pentagon is moving up the delivery date of u.s. tanks to ukraine to this fall. kumasi: developing news to share from los angeles. more than half a million students will not have school again today. a three-day strike has shut down the country's second-largest district and teachers are backing the 30,000 employees calling for needed -- for higher wages. the union wants a 30% raise. it is saying right now the average district support staffer earns roughly $25,000 a year. congressman adam schiff joins the picket lines. >> you cannot be paying people
