this is abc7news. >> make sure they have flashlights. make sure their phone is charged. >> first responders urge the public to get ready for the next storm. this as pg&e races to complete work on -- compromised by mudslide. advice to prepare for more rain ahead. let's get a check with spencer christian talking about how much rain we are in for and some areas could get up to three inches. >> especially in the higher elevations but even down low it will be a lot of rainfall. approaching storm is a level two storm which will begin as a light to moderate level one late tomorrow night in the north bay but it will quickly expand and intensify by early tuesday morning. it will bring rain heaviest in the morning hours. gusts exceeding 45 miles per hour at times.

lower snow levels and isolated thunder. here's our forecast animation. between 8:00 and 11:00 light rain to moderate rain begins to push into the north bay. rapidly it will intensify and expand before the early morning commute gens on tuesday. heavy downpours. powerful gusty wind. that pattern continues into mid afternoon. then the storm eases up a little bit going into the later part of the day on tuesday. when for estimates from under an inch in the south bay to an inch and three quarters in san francisco to over two inches in the wettest north bay conditions could >> in the north bay it has been a race against time to reroute a critical gas line around a landslide that is still active. >> highway 101 has reopened between petaluma and novato. as the next storm approaches

seven news reporter cornell barnard shows is how those already had flooding or getting prepared. >> traffic is moving again on some on highway 101. a closed portion has reopened after pg&e completed the delicate job of rerouting an underground pipeline on this landslide in novato. crews had to cut through highway 101 and then back across the freeway. the lens line happened during last tuesday's bomb cyclone. but understanding we have additional weather systems coming our way in the days ahead we wanted to put forth contingency plans to ensure continued delivery of those important utilities. >> a new storm could bring more of what we have already seen too much of your flooding and downed trees. first responders know many and the bay area are suffering from storm fatigue.

>> we are concerned the public is getting a little bit numb to the hazards and risks these storms pose. it has become business as usual. >> the chief urges the public to stay vigilant. his department getting ready for the next round of rain. >> we may be looking at additional staffing, equipment. >> a homeowner was making the best of the dry day to get in some yard work. >> back out today because i noticed coming. >> these neighbors have gone to extremes by building a wall in front of their home to protect it from rising water. >> where the house affected the most on the >> street. jacqueline shared pictures of the floodwall. she says it has happened too frequently. water coming from a nearby drainage ditch. we have more rain coming. you have resorted to drastic measures to keep the water away. >> and that is all we can do at this point.

> with more rain coming the bay area is gearing up to get wet again. >> many people are more trees coming down in tuesday's storm. this is a tree that fell in january in the santa cruz mountains. pg&e says crews have removed more than 14,000 trees damaged and damaged infrastructure first -- is the first atmospheric river on new year's eve. arborists say trees with denser crowns are more prone to fall. warning signs include cracks around the root base or a new mound of soil. the western tree failure database shows the most common trees have fallen in the bay area include oaks, eucalyptus, cyprus and monterey pines. moving to the east bay, a berkeley sandwich shop is out tens of thousands of dollars because of the last storm. it knocked out power for four days causing thousands of pounds of food to spoil.

the owner showed us around today and told us losses include a couple thousand pounds of brisket did he says $20,000 of food is headed to the compost heap. it would have netted $100,000 in sales. > the first and that popped into our head was were going to have to close the business because we don't have a lot of working capital. we were grass fruits funded to get here. we were a pop up before this. the community helped us to get into the brick-and-mortar. the community is stepping up to save the business. at least $20,000 so far has been raised online to help the business. it will reopen thursday when it plans to sell other sandwiches and notjohnny -- not the pastrat has made them beloved. a daylong standoff with an armed man no goal roy has come to an arms -- has come to an end.

deputy sheriffs responded at 8:00 a.m. and were one suspect. less than two hours ago gunfire you've upped it again. authorities say the man walked out of the house and was a threat. that is when an officer from an area agency opened fire. the suspect was wounded and has been taken to the hospital. a sheriff's deputy was hit by a bullet that ricocheted during the gunfire. deputy is in stable condition and is expected to recover. >> it is a very traumatic event. one of our deputies was struck by ricochet. regardless of it as a ricochet or bullet that is a big situation. >> sergeant davis say they are still investigating what caught on fire near the suspect's house. our cameras caught smoke in the air over the scene. deputy say they will be at the scene all night to conduct the investigation.

the early morning hours. filtered sunshine for much of the day tomorrow. tomorrow night and the clouds they can and the storm begins to push into the north bay. before we get more of that let's take a look at overnight lows. low to mid 30's in the inland, north bay, east and in the south bay. mid- to upper 30's. it will be cold everywhere tonight. tomorrow under the filtered sunshine it will be mild in the inland, east bay and the south bay where highs reach into the low 60's. a bit cooler in the north bay. let's take a look at the approaching storm. this will be a level two or moderate storm. it will develop late tomorrow night initially as a level one in the north bay but it will intensify and expand early tuesday morning. rain heaviest tuesday morning with windy conditions and low snow levels. the rain begins and the north bay. within a couple hours it expands

and intensifies before the morning commute starts tuesday. who have heavy downpours,widesp. potentially damaging winds as the storm begins to weaken going into wednesday. the ring for totals by wednesday night will range anywhere from under an inch to the south bay to over an inch around the bay shoreline to over two inches in many north bay locations. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. the storm begins late tomorrow night in the north bay. quickly intensifies to a level two before the morning commute begins tuesday. it is going to be a stormy day tuesday even with some thunderstorms. a level one on wednesday as the storm weakens to scattered showers. the next round of rain arrives saturday. now abc 7 sports with chris alvarez. >> it is hard to believe but stephen curry was once a lightly recruited three out of five athlete coming out of high school. he is a generational talent.
