solutions. this is abc7news. dan: another day in whirlpool of weather. this is how today looked from way up above. this storm brought one mill -- familiar thing with it. ama: more downed trees across the bay area. san leandro, los gatos. the damage hasn't been as bad as the past two storms. good evening. dan: thanks for joining us. we are tracking spotty showers overnight. ama: let's turn things over to sandhya patel. sandhya: part one brought us the wind damage, heavy rain. part two coming through tomorrow as we head toward the commute. let's look at live doppler 7. we have scattered showers across the region. street-level radar in the south bay from san martin to monterey road, heading into morgan hill. we are seeing some moderate rain falling. we are seeing snow up around lake county the hills.

this is definitely cold enough to create mixed precip. the area of low pressure is spinning off the northern california coast. there have been lightning strikes. this is a light level 1 storm. as we head toward tomorrow morning's commute, 5:00, showers more widespread at 9:00. snow over the higher peaks. even the potential for some thunderstorms across the region. as we check out the wind gusts, 29 miles per hour in oakland hills. not as strong as earlier. 67 mile per hour gusts. san jose at 40 mile-per-hour winds. brief downpours. isolated thunderstorms with hail and gusty wind. i will be back with a closer look at the timeline for tomorrow. make sure you put your umbrellas by the door and don't forget the shades. dan: one couple in

cruz mountains has had to dig their home because of the danger . recent storms have eroded the earth on one side of their house in boulder creek. it's now barely hanging on. lauren martinez explains it is so precarious, the home may be lost. reporter: months of heavy rainfall is leaving a boulder creek couple on edge. >> it's a foot of earth and a drop of 10 feet. reporter: their home overlooks kings creek. they noticed parts of their backyard eroded get the last tuesday storm swept away their retaining wall. >> the creek doubled inside -- in size. it took out the whole retaining wall. reporter: the last storm put the foundation of their home at risk. so they are staying at an airbnb in san jose this week. >> i suspect they will read tackett. reporter: they contacted the county and a contractor, days if

not weeks out from getting their expert opinion. >> the soil engi sd he's two weeks t even drive by the place. so inundated with other families dealing with the same situation. reporter: they are home and flood insurance won't cover this. >> both policies specifically exclude land movement. the flood policy specifically gets into detail where they say, any movement based on water or rising rivers is excluded. reporter: he said he's done with the mountains. >> i at a point where it's like, i just want to know what we are going to do. i'm ok with anything at this point. i just need to know, do we need to move? reporter: this couple created a gofundme to help with the uncertainty of their repair or moving costs. they are making an effort to stay positive and handle it with a sense of humor. >> if a tree fell on our house, we would have been fine. insurance would've paid for it. i was laughing.

let's just pray that a redwood falls on the house. that might fixed it. reporter: lauren martinez, abc7news. ama: a car flew off an overpass this afternoon in phoenicia. the crash happened off the 780 overpass onto east 5th street. chp says it may have been caused by rainy weather and slippery roads. police urged drivers to slow down. dan: crews closed part of the financial district in san jose -- in san francisco. a window did crack on salesforce east. everyone is secure now. the streets were closed as a precaution. it has been a really bizarre problem in the city. the same building was one of several in the area that had windows shattered last week. in the north bay, things are getting worse for these two homes. santa rosa fire chief says the mudslide threat has now breached one of the homes on cooper

drive. fire officials say the mud has continued running down this-soaked hillside. city to prevent the mud from sliding but it just keeps moving. ama: the other big factor is the long-lasting massive power blackouts. a local deli in the east bay is struggling to stay open for business. it hasn't had power for five days during the past week. it's one of a growing number of local businesses losing money in a big way. tim johns spoke to the owners tonight and brings us the details. >> i'm not exaggerating. it's been one of the worst weeks of our lives. reporter: for the past year, they have put countless hours and thousands of dollars into their restaurant. the berkeley based business is now on the verge of financial ruin after last week's storm caused them to lose power for four days. the result?

>> normally this is completely filled with meat. reporter: thousands of pounds of food soiled and lost revenue totaling $100,000. >> it took us years to get to this point. we went without. we lived in a tiny apartment. we put all of our money into this business. we work seven days a week. reporter: after the lights went back on, he was hoping to reopen shop this coming thursday. but then the unthinkable happened again. with tuesday's latest storm, the restaurant lost power for several hours, forcing him to stop his scheduled shipment of food and throw his reopening plans into disarray. >> is not like we can go somewhere else and make money. what would happen to our employees? they can find another job during a time where we don't have power. reporter: this rug shop was also per outa.

power for multiple days over the past week. he says it caused him to lose thousands of dollars worth of sales. for all the money he pays, pg&e should be able to keep the lights on even when it storms. >> they have to be prepared. not postponing. it six really bad. >> we want people to come and get fresh bread with their sandwich. i have like families that are counting on us. reporter: they've started a gofundme to try to keep their place open. without the community support, deli rama would already be out of business. >> thank you so much. anything is going to help us at this point. reporter: tim johns, abc7news. ama: we've put together a page of live updates from the storms on our website. it has the latest power outage

areas, freeways, and park closures. it's on the front page of abc7news.com. dan: new information on the mass shooting at the covenant elementary school in nashville. the attack killing three children and three staff. police have released chilling body camera video of officers entering the school and taking down the shooter. let me warn you, the video is intense. and when has the story. reporter: footage showing the moment police charge into the covenant christian elementary school in nashville, under attack by an active shooter. officers checking rooms downstairs before racing toward the sound of gunfire on the second floor. 14 minutes after the first 911 call, just three minutes after entering the school, officers locate the shooter in this common area and fire. >> multiple victims inside the

school. the shooter is down now as well. reporter: the police department hailing the actions of their officers for saving countless lives. >> they heard gunfire. immediately ran to that. reporter: the suspect was a former student, 28-year-old audrey hale. surveillance video shows hail shooting through the doors in the school and then moving through the halls in a plebe -- preplanned attack. hail was armed with ar style and a detailed map of the school. one of hale's former teammates says she sent her a message stating something was about to happen. >> i'm speechless. i'm trying to wrap my mind around it. reporter: police say hale's parents said hale was being treated for an emotional disorder and was under a doctor's care. hale was able to legally buy seven guns from five local stores. three of which were used in the shooting rampage. the community mourning the loss of three children and three adults killed.

dan: 10 years ago, levi's stadium opened with expectation and disappointment. fans began complaining. a spokesperson confirms to us that the stadium will soon get another round of renovations. could be a new boost for the bay area economy. j.r. stone is with us to explain. reporter: you can look at this two ways. some folks will see the headline and say, what? a renovation already? a former sports executive and author says this should not be a shocker. >> the niner organization is looking forward. they are agile. they are nimble. they are taking advantage of the significant cash generator.

they want to bring the most significant events that they can to the market. reporter: levi's stadium opened less than 10 years ago. when you think of renovations or upgrades, some might wonder if that involves parking, traffic, turf, or the lack of shade. according to a spokesperson, this will be $125 million project that will first renovate levi's stadium suites and then the niners will look to upgrade video boards to enhance the fan experience. this will be done before the 2026 world cup games. there is a hope that this could lure super bowl 60 here. go lich says this is about competing with the $5 billion sofi stadium in southern california, competing with allegiant stadium in vegas, and competing with other places across the country and around the world. >> we live in a nano second attention span world.

if you aren't ahead of the game, you are literally in last place. so this is an organization that's looking at the future. if you manage your sport or any business through the rearview mirror, you will be in trouble. here's a situation at least with the story popping up today, they are looking through the windshield. reporter: he cowrote a book of local sports history called goodbye oakland. he says teams and other sports like the a's in the mlb likely wish they could make a move like the 49ers are here. the renovations will start after this coming season. now back to you. ama: thank you. students from across the country including 14 from the bay area are in washington dc tonight. they spent the day pushing for climate resolutions they helped write themselves. they call for the teaching of climate change in schools and to help young people deal with the

mental health challenges brought on by climate change. a 16-year-old of sonoma county spoke along with others from students for climate action. >> it's essential for our voices to be heard and to be included. we provide a unique and informed perspective. we will be disproportionately impacted by the effects of the climate crisis. ama: bay area members of congress are writing climate change resolutions. dan: it's been a long time since we've seen images like this one, low lake levels. the storms are helping to ease our drought restrictions. these big missable district suspended its penalties for excessive water use. downgrade from a stage two drought to stage one. santa clara county removed its restrictions late last week.

yeah, the snow is coming down. you see it's just not letting up. 227% of average. statewide sierra snowpack. we will continue to see that getting built up as more storms are coming. here's a look at live doppler 7. you will notice that the entire sierra is still looking at snow. they are chaining up on all roads. i just checked the caltrans website. winter storm warning until 8:00 tomorrow. heavy snow. gusts to 60 miles per hour. snow levels coming down to 2500 feet tomorrow morning. live doppler 7, we are tracking showers. let me show you where it's raining at this hour. light to moderate around san martin, morgan hill. we are also seeing some scattered showers around the peninsula from 280. not done quite yet. there's two parts to this system. the first part was a front that came through earlier today.

you can see all the damage reports. we've had everything from flooding to non-thunderstorm wind damage. there have been lightning strikes along the mendocino coastline and also around the ricoh coast. a threat of stunt -- thunder across the bay area. watching out. rainfall totals anywhere from 210 seven inch in brentwood to over an inch in half moon bay. canfield, 1.39. oakland picking up three quarters of an inch. 49 hundredths in san jose. our wettest spot was over three inches so far up inventory. one of our wetter spots. temperatures right now, 30's to 50's. it's chillier than yesterday at this time. still seeing wet roadways. plan accordingly. scattered showers, thunder chancellor wednesday. a weaker trip -- system is coming our way this weekend.

tonight, tomorrow, showers with downpours. isolated thunderstorms with hail. that is something you will have to watch out for. snow over our higher peaks. we will continue to see that going into tomorrow. the wind will be picking up again. not as strong as today but getting gusty between 11:00 and 1:00. here comes the timeline. 5:00 in the morning, watch out for light to moderate showers. brief downpours at 9:00. mount hamilton picking up more snow. noon time, scattered showers and the intensity picks up. could be some thunderstorms around 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. the system quickly winds down. additional rainfall totals with the system. anywhere from a few hundredths to over an inch of rain. morning temperatures. keep your jackets and umbrellas. there will be some some breaks.
