although brea farms marks ba up and running in the sunshine, many of the farmers there are hoping to make up for lost time. good evening and thank you for joining us. i am dion lim. a wet winter season in the bay area has impacted farmers markets and family-run farms that sell produce. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard details they post-storm struggle. >> leonardo as never been more thankful for good weather. it has brought customers back to the fort mason farmers market in san francisco at a time when his sales are down 50%. >> for us, it has been very effective. >> he works for js organic which suffered flooding from epic rains last month. part of their strawberry crop wiped out. >> this year, we planted 15 acres and lost about a third of it. so yes, it is hard. >> first it was thank god we needed this. now it is it needs to be over.

>> phil says the drought busting winter season has delayed his planting. >> i have been doing this for 30 years and usually by now, we have stuff in the ground. r spring vegetables. >> the toughest part, stormy weather has forced vendors to cancel days and lose profits. >> we did the market two weeks ago and i'm still traumatized. it's not just rain, the wind was literally moving that tense. >> this season it has been mostly rain and that has created nothing short of a logistical nightmare for the vendors and the operators. >> this year we really tested the rain or shine policy. >> warren cox with the association that manages more than a dozen markets says it is working with farmers. about 10 vendors were missing today. >> most of our vendors are small vendors, where all of their money comes from farmers markets or direct from farm sales. so trying to work with farmers, we help them anyway they can.

abc seven news room. take a look, the search is on for a suspect after two shootings outside and near the fruitvale station. you are looking at live pictures from the scene as we speak. one of those shootings apparently happened in the plaza by the station while another happened at a bus stop at the station. right now, we do not have any information on injuries. service at fruitvale was stopped but that has resumed. the situation is unfolding minute by minute and we are gathering information as we speak. we will bring you any updates as we get them on the news and abc seven news.com. starting berkeley police officers on patrol. the news website berkeley skinner reports the department shifted from a 16 beat structure to a 14 beat structure because of staffing shortages. the new structure means it will take police longer to respond to nonemergency calls and mutual aid from other agencies may be needed if there is a big emergency.

we are learning more today about the executive director of san jose's police officers association who now faces drug charges. a neighbor who has known joann for at least 15 years spoke to abc news. 64-year-old jonah was in accused of importing synthetic opioid drugs, specifically a form of fentanyl overseas with the intent to disturb them. patricia finds it difficult to believe her neighbor would be involved in illegal activity. briggs is the homeowners president and says there has never been unusual activity at the home. >> the joann that i know loving mother, daughter, and grandmother. and wife. and she is a good neighbor, she has always been quiet and friendly and delightful to spend time with. she is an ideal neighbor. if she is quiet and peaceful and

delightful. >> federal investigators say for the past eight years, she had at 61 shipments of thousands of pills mailed to her home. developing news, we are learning more about how the process of former president donald trump's arraignment on criminal charges is expected to unfold. abc seven news reporter jay o'brien has reaction from trump's attorney. >> amid heightened security, former president trump is prepared to fly to new york for his arraignment on tuesday on criminal charges. sources say he is facing around two dozen charges, including felonies that could potentially expose him to prison time. >> he is gearing up for a battle. you know, this is something that obviously we believe is political persecution and people on both sides of the i'll believe that. investigation focusing on an alleged hush money payment to

it appears to be a mama and a pup basking in the sun. then you see hummingbirds that decided to photobomb the shot and now it feels truly like spring. it's going to feel more like spring. >> it certainly is. wait about five or six days and it will be almost hot, almost. >> how does that happen? >> things change traumatically in the world of weather. here's a look at right now, strong gusting wind around the bay with gusts between 25 and 35 miles per hour across much of the region right now. these gusts are going to increase. as a matter of fact, a wind advisory will be in effect from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. tomorrow for the entire coastline. and from 11 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for solano county. the wind generally during this time will be out of the west at 15 to 30 miles per hour with gusts ranging from 45 to 55 miles per hour. in the 24 hour temperature change shows it is quite a bit cooler now than it was yesterday by about four or five degrees in most locations. on we go.
