district attorney, the judge, even the judges family. this morning. former president trump reacting for the first time to the dozens of felonies he faces charges an insult to the country . the only crime that i have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it not guilty to 34 felonies after being indicted by a manhattan grand jury. prosecutors allege trump repeatedly and fraudulently falsified new york business records to conceal criminal conduct that hid damaging information from the voting public during the 2016 presidential election, catch and kill scheme that is a scheme to buy and suppress negative information. according to the indictment, trump orchestrated a scheme with his former lawyer, michael cohen, and former national inquirer publisher david pecker to pay hush money to at least three people. alluding porn actress stormy daniels. everybody said, this is not really an indictment. there's nothing here. my lawyers

jarvis, founder of the financial and non profit frank could be facing up to 100 years in prison , accused of defrauding jpmorgan chase out of millions kind of represented that as a name because it just meant honest. federal investigators alleged frank was a fraud, they say 31 year old jarvis, who made the prestigious forbes magazine 30 under 30 list didn't scam students but scammed the bank by falsely and dramatically inflating the number of customers of her company, claiming 4.25 million customers or users when the real number was under 300,000. they say they made up figures allowed service to fraudulently induced jpmorgan chase to acquire frank for 175 million allegedly earnings of $45 million payday. these are very serious charges if you read the government's charges. and he read the government's statement . they basically say she's a con artist. frank was designed to help prospective students signed up for financial aid faster and

[ spray, spray ] astepro and go. . this fake case was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election. and it should be dropped immediately. former president trump reacting last night to the historic charges against him, he pleaded not guilty to falsifying business records to hide damaging information before the 2016 election. legal experts say the indictment raises issues that could provide openings for the defense. i spoke earlier with lance fletcher, a former prosecutor in the manhattan da's office. let's get to the heart of this case. falsifying business records is a misdemeanor in new york unless it's to further another crime. then it's a felony. walk us through what you think makes this a felony case in the eyes of the district attorney manhattan d a brag is being pretty vague here. right well, part of that is when you have an indictment in your charging somebody you want to set forth this few facts and as few of the little information as you can

you want just the bare bones of the accusations had that at this early stage d a brag has handled this kind of case before he didn't find clearly any legal obligation to be clear about what that other crime is. it wasn't played in the indictment . i suspect that that is something that will have to be disclosed down the road and some of the new evidence of the d a claims he has in this case, but we have to wait. until trial to hear some of that. i don't think we'll have to wait that long. the prosecutor can surprise you at the trial with evidence that that you weren't expecting or anticipating. but instead that has to be turned over well in advance of trial, so i think we're going to find out what that is, if anything in the months to come and the big question, what's next? we expect trump's lawyers to file a motion to dismiss he may not even be back in court until december. they're going to be important questions here. for example, if this was a misdemeanor falsification of business records, so we're talking about a two year statute of limitations. it's a felony, and so that makes it a five year statute of limitations. this is conduct that apparently happened back in 2016. the statute of limitations is going to be a big

issue. they're going to be other issues regarding venue. um the trump team might try to move this trial to a different place that has basically different politics or different media coverage. and lance you worked on the manhattan d a s office and curious want to get your insights. critics say this case is against trump is all political. and when you consider millions of taxpayer dollars will be spent on this untested legal case. is it really worth bringing it forward for any reason other than politics? the question here is going to be, would they have gone after a high profile democrat in this situation, but the manhattan district attorney's office has in the past had no problem prosecuting of high profile high ranking democrats in the past, with the serious prosecutions and lancelot is being made about the judge. in this case. what can you tell us? is there any history there between the president and the judge? in this case? i've had personal experience with judge russian. um i had a trial where he was. it was a bench trial. so he decided all the facts in the
