forecast today with a few high clouds, the sun comes up at 6 43 . everyone's in the low fifties by noontime it is getting warmer , upper fifties coast side low sixties bayshore mid sixties inland, and by the afternoon we have some high clouds in the north bay, but mid seventies and inland valleys, low seventies base shore and even some sixties with the lighter seabreeze at the coast, so we are looking at cooler, windier weather after easter will plot it all out for you and a few minutes. alright lisa. thank you know overnight in the south bay. one person is dead after a shooting in san jose officers received a call yesterday afternoon after shots were fired. air near keys in south third street. police say the victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. around 10 last night, authorities reported the victim had died. and that makes it centers is eighth homicide of the year. police have not announced any arrests in the case, and information on a suspect or suspects has not been released. in san francisco

making it clear that, um, you know, both of these cases the information is still not yet public. they're under investigation, the mayor cautioning people not to jump to conclusions when some of the facts of many of these cases come out. people are going to be surprised, she says. social media has helped spread a message questioning the safety of the city. it is really heightened events like this as well, as you know, people who are jumping to conclusions about what they think is actually happening, and despite the safety perception, the mayor says progress is being made, pointing to the city's moved 25 million more dollars into police overtime. what that does is continue to allow us to do our jobs here and to make sure that we're not only out on the streets and we can respond to calls for service, but it provides us the ability to do these investigations around the clock. the cities at least 500 officers short, but the mayor

various offenses. now antioxidant mayor is calling for more action, abc seven news reporter answer hassan tells us it comes after 17 officers were accused of misconduct have 17 names that that are part of this department that pointed some serious issues on friday contra costs. the judge released the names of 17 officers accused of misconduct. mr lamar thorpe says the problem stems from the culture of antioch's please department while i'm outraged by all of this, as every resident should be outraged by this, i'm more concerned and more irritated at the fact that our command staff, uh, somehow didn't know about this, so there's systemic failures and leadership here. thorpe issued a video saturday morning calling for an independent audit of the department's internal affairs process. he also wants a review of the hiring and promotions process to eliminate what he called racial policy in both practice and behavior. culture at the police department is a problem. and has long been a

huge legal and financial liability for the city police department has been under a federal and state criminal investigation for the past year over a broad range of offenses, including alleged fraud, bribery and excessive use of force, the contra costa county district attorney's office says that investigation then uncovered that the police officers quote exchanged text messages which contain unambiguously and historically racist speech directed towards the suspects. the officers were investigating . at least 20% of the department is on lead for misconduct. so the mayor is 100% right. there's a cultural problem here. nissenbaum is the lawyer representing the family of angelo quinto seen in this video who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the antiochus lease department. he believes it's important that the officers names are released so there can be accountability, especially since one of the officers named is said to be the president of the anti oxley's union. its own

union head is involved in sending text messages that that are blatantly racist means, said the entire department requires a major overhaul. the antioch police department did not return requests for comment. the lawyer representing the officer says he hasn't seen the text messages yet, so he can't comment on the case. but in an email to abc seven news he did state quote. i know. the police chief insisted that the city hire an outside investigator as soon as possible to commence a thorough and objective investigation into this matter in antioxidants are hassan, abc seven news. take a look here dangling power pole and fremont shut down much of maori avenue between mission boulevard and cherry street. this happened yesterday afternoon. you can see it appears the top of the pole was sheared off with wires and electric electrical equipment swing above the road. we have contacted fremont police to find out exactly what happened, but we have not heard back. alright

mississippi's gulf coast? dozens have washed ashore in the last week or so. the institute for marine mammals studies began receiving calls from residents on april 1st about this at least 34 dead turtles have been found . the majority are camp release. so they are the most endangered species in the world. so their native only to the gulf of mexico, they have a very small nesting range across all species of sea turtles. estimation is that only one in 1000 hatchlings will make it to be an adult to reproduce. she says. well, it's normal to see strandings this time of year, the number is actually higher than usual. one possible explanation could be the weather, she says. high winds could be pushing carcasses onto the shore. the next step is to conduct animal autopsies to try and figure out what is killing these sea turtles. the recent drought in california is inspiring businesses and nonprofits to find unique ways to conserve water. in this case, rainwater and the recent atmospheric rivers are having a

positive impact on that, abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez tells us how some of the bay area including wineries are doing just that. these tanks sit outside flower elementary school in sonoma. they've been capturing the roof rainwater during our recent storms that the school will reuse for its garden in the summer, when water isn't so plentiful. steven lee of the nonprofit cinema colleges center designed the system and helped install it in november. when the kids are learning all of those lessons. we want them to learn about growing food and all of the bits about having an educational garden, water conservation and water capture is part of the curriculum, so it's a demonstration. nation system, in addition to it, actually providing you know the water that that would be needed to satisfy some some portion of the water budget for that garden. also in sonoma county winery and windsor is among four jackson family wines in northern california, also collecting

rainwater. as the rain falls on the roof. it's diverted into a series of pipes that leads into tanks in our winery, um that we then capture the water in we then run that water through a filtration system. we then move that into another set of what we call close top tanks. were there, and it's stored and it's then pumped into our refrigeration system to use in its cooling tower to help cool down our winery when it gets hot during the summer days, chromosomes on site team installing the system in 2021 from december to today, already collecting 125,000 gallons about what they would in a typical year. we had a deal with some mud and you know, closed roads and other things, but definitely when we're talking about a positive coming out of this is how do we capture this? this critical resource here in california, especially in one country that is water captured and use it for something in the future that otherwise would be pulled from the ground. the four flower elementary tanks can collectively store 20,000 gallons of water, with the recent rain there already full.
