that, um you know, both of these cases, the information is still not yet public. they're under investigation. the mayor cautioning people not to jump to conclusions when some of the facts of many of these cases come out. people are going to be surprised, she says social media has helped spread a message questioning the safety of the city. it is really heightened events like this as well as you know people who are jumping to conclusions about what they think is actually happening despite the safety perception, the mayor says progress is being made, pointing to the city's moved to put 25 million more dollars into police overtime. what that does is continue to allow us to do our jobs here and to make sure that we're not only out on the streets and we can respond to calls for service, but it provides us the ability to do these investigations around the clock. the city's at least 500 officers short, but the mayor says recruiting

er is calling for more action, abc seven news reporter answer. hassan tells us it comes after 17 officers were accused of misconduct have 17 names that that are part of this department at that point to some serious issues on friday contra costs, the judge released the names of 17 officers accused of misconduct. mayor lamar thorpe says the problem stems from the culture of antioch's please department while i'm outraged by all of this, as every resident should be outraged by this, uh and more concerned and more irritated at the fact that our command staff ah somehow didn't know about this. so there's systemic failures and leadership here. thorpe issued a video saturday morning calling for an independent audit of the department's internal affairs process also wants a review of the hiring in promotions process to eliminate what he called racial policy in both practice and behavior culture at the police department. is a problem. hmm and has long been a huge

legal and financial liability for the city police department has been under a federal and state criminal investigation for the past year over a broad range of offenses, including alleged fraud, bribery and excessive use of force, the contra costa county district attorney's office says that investigation then uncovered that the police officers quote exchanged text messages which contain unambiguously and historically racist speech directed towards the suspects. the officers were investigating. at least 20% of the department is on lead for miss kanda. so the mayor is 100% right. there's a cultural problem here is the lawyer representing the family of angelo quinto seen in this video who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the anti oct police department. he believes it's important that the officers names are released so there can be accountability, especially since one of the officers named is said to be the president of the antioch's lease union, its own union head is involved in

, has looked at how adam's work is becoming increasingly relevant today. photographer ansel adams captured many of his iconic images. western landscapes like yosemite were both remote and still pristine, and for much of his career, he worked to help keep them that way. now a new exhibit at san francisco's de young museum examines how adam's environmental activism is taking on a new urgency in the age of climate change. is that massive figure with this sort of larger than life reputation at one has to deal with so i'm fascinated to realize how many contemporary artists really are concerned and speaking to environmental issues to climate change, senior curator karen haas says the influence can be seen in the work of those often younger photographers included in the exhibition contrast adams famous photograph of the moon over a desert landscape, for instance. with the sad clutter of brian

impact every state even where abortion is legal, and the case could go all the way to the supreme court. abc news reporter karina mitchell has the latest a court battle over conflicting rulings in two different states . a federal judge in texas ruling to suspend the fda approval of mifepristone medication that is used in more than half of us abortions. the judge writing that the fda is quote, lack of restrictions resulted in many deaths and many more severe or life threatening adverse reactions. the justice department acting quickly filing an appeal just hours after the decision. some anti abortion advocates praising the judge's ruling. it was certainly a victory. it was one that we've been praying for. for some time , the fda says it will appeal, saying it quote stands behind its determination that medford, kristen is safe and effective. the fda approved the drug in 2000, and it is legal in 18 states and is the first of two drugs that can abort pregnancies in the 1st 11 weeks. kristen is

their native only to the gulf of mexico. they have a very small nesting range across all species of sea turtles estimation is that only one in 1000 hatchlings will make it to be an adult to reproduce. she says. well, it's normal to see strandings. um this time of year, the number is really higher than usual. one possible explanation could be the weather, she says. high winds could be pushing carcasses onto the shore. the next step is to conduct animal autopsies to try and figure out what is killing the sea turtles. the recent drought in california is inspiring businesses and nonprofits to find unique ways to conserve water. and in this case now rainwater, the recent atmospheric rivers have had a big impact on that, and abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez tells us how some in the bay area, including wineries are doing that. these tanks sit outside flower elementary school in sonoma. they've been capturing roof rainwater during our recent storms that the school will reuse for its garden

in the summer, when water isn't so plentiful. steven lee of the nonprofit cinema colleges center designed the system and helped install it in november. when the kids are learning all of those lessons. we want them to learn about growing food and all of the bits about having an educational garden, water conservation and water capture is part of that curriculum. it's a demonstration. ocean system, in addition to it, actually providing you know the water that that would be needed to satisfy some some portion of the water budget for that, carden also in sonoma county winery and windsor is among four jackson family wines in northern california, also collecting rainwater. as the rain falls on the roof. it's diverted into a series of pipes that leads into tanks in our winery, um that we then capture the water in we then run that water through a filtration system. we then move that into another set of what we call close top tanks. where there and it's stored, and it's then pumped into our refrigeration system to use in
