shooting in less than a week. amanda is live in oakland with what we know. amanda: plenty of activity at lake park avenue, for we are standing right now. i want to set the scene just a few blocks away from the grand lake here in oakland. chp tells us one person has died and the only victim they are aware of at this hour. this morning we saw two cars with significant damage, including this truck. i'm going to step out of the way so that you can see the toyota tacoma behind me that went into the pole. back end. this is where the incident ended. it started as a late-night shooting according to chp. got the call just before midnight. the vehicles exited onto oakland

city streets here on lakeshore avenue in lake park avenue. one person was pronounced dead. i took a closer look at the pole and we founded riddled with bullet holes. the front window, the side doors, all throughout. that is the focus of the chp investigation at this hour. the lakeshore exit here in oakland, i want to say a couple of dozen vehicles were here from chp as well as a couple of dozen officers. you can see them through the area. plenty of evidence scattered on the ground, marking out pieces of cars. it seems that this is going to go on for several hours. it has been already. we know the freeway was shut down for two hours and has since reopened at 14th street. the lakeshore exit is still

it comes on the heels of a heated city council meeting tuesday night. that is part of the emotional reaction from the mayor during public comment. the mayor, defending his actions. >> i wasn't going to allow him to hijack the experiences of so many residents who were expressing their experiences over racism. reggie: 17 officers are and a total of 24 are under investigation. the mayor has called for a special meeting to look at department culture next tuesday. here's the work done to clear the oak wood street encampment. 75 tons of debris have been removed. oakland police arrested two people after a barrier was put up trying to stop the eviction process. this is what it looked like monday. it's hard to tell the difference. oakland is offering shelter to everyone at the encampment who wants it.

the side door. all of that. one person is dead. that's the only victim chp is aware of at this hour. we should note chp says this is where the incident ended. it started as a freeway shooting westbound on 580 just before midnight. the vehicles exited at lakeshore avenue and ended up on lake park avenue. the second car is a toyota corolla, which ended up a block away from here, 300 yards specifically. the car has front end and backend and damage. we know 580 was closed until 3 a.m.. still at this hour, a lot of activity. chp, about a dozen vehicles and officers walking the offramp now, still investigating. this morning we spoke with a resident of the area. she said she isn't surprised. says she is shocked it happened this morning as she was biking to get coffee but still not very

surprised and says unfortunately the violence has become the backdrop of her community and she doesn't want that to be the reality for the residents here. she says all of the community is in this mode of grieving because of all of these just deadly shootings they have had on the freeways here in the bay area. this hitting close to home this time around. as you can imagine, residents are concerned. one person dead to. the investigation is still underway. reporting live, amanda ca kumasi: thank you dianne feinstein, receiving multiple calls to resign. gloria rodríguez joins us out of the newsroom with the details and what feinstein has to say about it. gloria: good morning. dianne feinstein says she understands that her absence could delay the important work of the judiciary committee and
