complaint the number two in charge made the comment about a samoan victim of crime. >> reporter: during monday's justice for jasper rally in oakland, victors of crime shared their stories. families of murdered loved ones such as virginia, wife of kevin who was killed while protecting a tv news crew. her bra, whose brother david was killed in a freeway shooting last year spoke about the need for proper punishment and fears over possible changes to the severity of charges from district attorney pamela price. >> you do not know how it feels until you have been in our shoes. reporter: alameda county prosecutor butch ford says he was put on paid administrative leave by price taken to the podium. >> i am half african-american and was influenced by the first

african-american female judge in alameda county history judge judith ford. reporter: ford shared an anecdote of a seemingly racist incident a female d.a. says she asked -- she experienced last month. >> i had a conversation with the d.a.. reporter: that female d.a. -- she says chief assistant district attorney otis bruce criticize the victim of her case who was a api. the complaint was sent to her direct supervisor and a union representative alleges bruce said samoan's fight, they like to get drunk and high and they fight in a minute. ford commented on this at monday's rally. >> it was his way of attaching a victim of a violent crime and justifying what would most assuredly be a very low sentence. our young a api sister was still shot -- shocked. reporter: i reach out to bruce

along with the das office asking for comment on tuesday and regularly followed up. we have yet to get a response. board told me monday the purpose of the rally and sharing what happened to the young female d.a. was not about race. >> it is about doing what is right and protecting victims. reporter: when i asked the staff attorney from the union about response from otis or price with this matter, he said no. liz: these allegations come after emails dion obtained which d.a. price sent to some members of the asian-american community, calling them misinformed about a case or the asian pacific islander prosecutors association denounced those emails, calling them offensive. the contra costa county public defender's office asking the district attorney to dismiss all pending public defender cases involving the antioch police department. this comes after a growing racist texting scandal possibly involving 40% of the department.

part founded on gerber's testimony. the impact is tremendous. it infects every aspect o charges against my client. liz: t unified school district will vote tomorrow whether to strike. contract negotiations with the district happen going on for about six months and there is still no deal on the table. the school board approved a package of budget reductions for next school year. those reductions are designed to make room for pay raises for teachers, but there union representative say increases in state funding should be enough to fairly compensate teachers. the warriors are looking ahead to game two of the opening playoff series against the kings. it was a wild finish in sacramento and you did see it on abc 7. the warriors had their chances up 10 points in the third quarter. ayors -- warriors
