10-year-old, kyler gordon has shared his talent of painting prominent faces. on sunday, he painted 16-year-old ralph yarl. in a video posted online of him painting, gordon spoke about how yarl was shot twice. >> i was sad myself because what if that was me in the situation? and my mom got that phone call? so just the impact that would have on my family and friends, that is something i couldn't handle. lauren: gordon who is 16 himself said he compelled to create yarl's portrait and crown him as a king. >> i wanted to acknowledge the work and that these things have to stop. >> we shouldn't have to worry about these things for our children. lauren: dr. michael staten is a psychologist and assistant professor of public health. >> we are in a place where we have heard so many of these stories and it feels like every

look outside and the bay area is getting a few showers tonight. abc 7 news meteorologist sandhya patel tells us where the showers are sticking around tomorrow. sandhya: they are over the north bay right now and will linger into the morning hours. that's get right to live doppler 7, and the cold front is moving in across the north bay. we are seeing the most rainfall right now, light to moderate in intensity. street-level radar, american canyon, they are seeing that wet weather and around green bay, north san pedro road, getting a good dose of showers right now. it is a light level one on our exclusive impact scale as we go hour-by-hour. 40's and 50's for midnight and to those showers will be lingering into the early morning hours. still an isolated possibility tomorrow evening. dion: thank you. in the south bay, santa clara county is getting more than $11 million from the federal

government to provide shelter for the un-housed. the u.s. department of housing and urban development selected santa clara county to receive the grant money as well as 51 stability housing vouchers. since 2020, the county has helped connect more than 10,000 people with permanent housing, but county officials say the work is not done yet. >> while there is success, there are still thousands of people experiencing homelessness in our community, and tens of thousands more who are at risk of being pushed into homelessness. this funding will help us do more. dion: that money will go toward a variety of supportive services and outreach programs. ama: happening tomorrow, san mateo county will celebrate the opening of its new delegation center. it has 240 sleeping units for the unhoused. includes individual living spaces, on-site services to help clients transition into permanent housing, and it is pet friendly. dion: the warriors and kings

get more funding from the state. tim johns says with sacramento projecting a budget office at this year, that money could be hard to come by. >> we are sounding the alarm and urging the governor and our state legislature to step up. tim: a call to action ahead of a planned rally outside san francisco city hall tuesday afternoon. slaters will urge the california government to provide desperately needed funds to keep bay area public transit agencies afloat. >> it is overwhelmingly low income folks in the bay area, in san francisco, essential workers, people of color, who rely on transportation every day. tim: preston is one of those that were charged. he said when the pandemic hit a number of years ago, the number of people taking public transit plummeted. the only reason local agencies have survived was because of money provided by the government.

>> that is all ending, so now we are looking at where these funds will come from until the local cities and counties are able to raise the funds by going to the ballot. tim: preston says without state help, the consequences could be irreversibly harmful. that death spiral could include things like no weekend park services, only hourly weekday services, and even entire muni bus lines being cut, according to representative scott wiener. he is coming on sacramento to step in, but it has been hard at the state capitol where governor newsom and lawmakers are faced with a projected deficit of millions of dollars. despite the challenge, weiner believes transit should be one of our top priorities. >> public transportation is not optional, particularly in the bay area. we need to save these systems.
