thursday. they will be suspending him for one game. you've probably seen it a million times now. he grabs draymond green's leg. he stomps on him. suspension was based on greens history of unsportsmanlike acts. it didn't help that raymonde was taunting the crowd with adam silver in the house. the other moment that stands out , an altercation with lebron james. he was suspended there. the warriors ultimately lost that series. the bonus hasn't been suspended. he's not facing additional action. he is questionable for game three with the sternum contusion. raymonde is out. the warriors made everybody. they are down 2-0. game three on thursday. we will wait to see how they react tomorrow. ama: thank you.

dan: now to the south bay where it's a changing of the guard in downtown san jose. a controversial statue now coming down. the question is, what comes next? lauren martinez has more on the debate. reporter: crews have days long process to remove the thomas fallon statue in downtown san jose. the sculpture has been a divisive issue ever since its installation in the 1990's. >> a 30-year-old, practically controversy. reporter: an 1846 raising you the u.s. flag. california was still a part of mexico at the time. dr. gregorio moore torres asked by the san jose city council to write an opinion piece on the monument. >> we honor somebody who was a hero.

for a lot of people, is a villain. reporter: historians say fallon is a founding father of the city of san jose. tom mchenry who was behind the statue was vocal in support that the history during fallon's tim. he spoke at a meeting in 2021. >> oppression and mistakes, all of those happened under each flag and they deserve to be excoriated. they have been. reporter: after years of protest, vandalism, and debate, city leaders voted unanimously to revoke -- remove this culture two years ago. >> the statue represents a time in our history that was brutal for us native americans. the mexican communities that were living here. reporter: as far as next steps, the city says there is no current funding to replace it with another public artwork. the current plans are to restore it as a traffic median. >> there should be a statue that

represents all of us. reporter: the city says the statue will be removeddoved int. the cof tnsn estimate at $450 lauren martinez, abc seven news. dan: new developments with the antioch police racist text message scandal as city council held a special session about it this evening. sky seven was over a rally this afternoon. dozens of people took part before marching, demanding change. we were inside city hall as the meeting began and it was packed. antioch's mayor wants to do an audit of the police department. we caught up with one antioch resident just before the meeting got underway. >> an entity that is with protecting and serving the community. amongst themselves, there was a certain mentality that we are less, black folks are last, women are less.

i don't understand how you can protect and serve our community who you feel so negatively towards. dan: 17 officers or 20% of the police force is on leave right now. additional members are under investigation. the public defender's office estimates up to 40% of the department could be involved in this. ama: out with the old and in with the new. the fda has authorized a second bivalent booster shot for vulnerable populations. the primary series of covid-19 vaccines will no longer be administered to individuals. this follows concerns over an uptick in covid-19 infections as new variants continue to emerge. the cdc is expected to meet wednesday and must provide their final stamp of approval before the rollout of bivalent boosters. >> someone who is unvaccinated will only get one dose of the bivalent vaccine. that will be considered their covid vaccine. ama: americans over the age of

65 may be inoculated with the bivalent vaccine for months after an initial dose. immuno compromised individuals can get the shot after two months. unvaccinated children under the age of five are expected to receive the booster into doses. anyone interested in a second booster and is not part of a vulnerable group must consult their physician for a second dose. dan: let's move on to our guiding mission here at abc seven. every day, we were to build a better bay area. ama: we are spending time to find a few solutions or breakthroughs to a few local challenges that we all know well. dan: san francisco is pushing the state to provide more funding to keep the regions public transportation system afloat. in a unanimous vote this evening, the board of supervisors passed a resolution doing just that. bart and muni have sounded the alarm here about the potential of dramatic reductions in service. >> it's one more thing that would make living in the bay area harder and less affordable.

it may drive people to leave the region entirely. ama: that's one thing that we are seeing touched on repeatedly. the san francisco director of transportation says 400,000 people ride muni daily. half of them are of color and 70% make less than $50,000 a year. >> the steak is not only cuts but denying san franciscans the opportunity to get to work, to get to school, to get to medical care, to get to social services. the effect on people will be dire. dan: perhaps the biggest reason why transit agencies are hurting is because ridership is nowhere near pre-pandemic levels even on a good day. ama: our next breakthrough tonight takes us to oakland because we are covering the town as they do major unification work this week. dan: today is day two of a new effort called one oakland spring clean. the focus yesterday was on fixing potholes. today, abandoned cards. ama: oakland has now given its

department of transportation the ability to toe away cars instead of the police department. we spoke to cruz who said district seven accounts for the majority of calls about abandoned cars. this is southeastern oakland from the hills of san leandro down to the bay. the city councilmember who represents the district told us about why removing these abandoned cars matters. >> reduce the risk that it poses for public health, safety issues, for traffic, blocking neighbors front doors, driveways, the environmental hazards of those vehicles being left on our streets, the conditions it brings into our community is being addressed today. dan: the sprinkler leaning -- spring cleaning continues tomorrow. seven locations to pick up trash. the first of its kind cultural student center within the oakland unified school district. the high school held a grand opening of its new lit center. ama: it includes a library

dan: a popular museum and zoo is struggling to survive. ama: it is still running on generator power. weeks after heavy damage from last month storms. dan: as tim johnson explains, it hasn't stopped them from caring for nearly 100 animals despite some extra ordinary circumstances. reporter: anima their blood. >> mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians. we have invertebrates. reporter: the science museum has been around for almost 70 years, caring for rescued animals. after a series of storms battered the museum's coyote campus this winter, that job has become a lot more difficult. >> we've had more than 100 trees

go down. one of those trees actually took out the transformer. reporter: they've been out of power since march 14 and has had to install and rely on generators to be able to care for their animals. a necessity that's coming to big price. >> if you add fuel and delivery and rental and everything else, it's an excess of $50,000 a month. reporter: the storms destroyed animal habitats, obscured walkways, and made it dangerous for staff and visitors to be there. while the cleanup effort has been ongoing, the damage has made it harder for staff to do their jobs. everything from regulating the body temperatures of some animals to filtering the water of others. >> even in the worst circumstances, the animal care and welfare is always a top priority for us. reporter: in the meantime, they say the outpouring of support from the community has been invaluable. >> it's heartwarming to know that we aren't really out here alone on an island.

we have such a strong community behind us. reporter: tim johns, abc seven news. ama: san jose police investigating a collision involving a car striking a pedestrian earlier this evening. it happened on north white road shortly after 6:00. a man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. video shows the collision caused damage to a garage and fence. the cause of the incident is being investigated. dan: senate republicans are blocking the attempt from democrats to replace senator dianne feinstein on the judiciary committee. the 89-year-old has been away from d.c. since march 7, recovering from shingles and requested the replacement. replacing her would allow decisions on president biden sturgis are nominees to move forward. the whole debate has stirred up renewed calls for feinstein to retire. jackie spear weighed in today. >> i think senator signs -- feinstein should be given the

opportunity to make the decision in conjunction with her physicians. she continues to work from home. she is cosponsoring legislation. she continues to work at what she's done for so many years in congress. dan: the resolution on the judiciary committee would need 60 votes to pass which means 10 republicans would have to join democrats and that's extremely unlikely. classmates held a rally and march today for the 16-year-old kansas city boy who was shot and injured when he was mistakenly went to the wrong home. shot in the head and arm after he rang the doorbell. the suspect turned himself in today and is out on bail. lester faces two felony charges. ama: a frightening scene in new york city. cars came crashing down on top

of each other today. this parking garage collapsed, killing one person and injuring five others. all were garage employees. first responders went in shortly after the collapse around 4:00 but that changed when the structure became too unstable. >> we made the decision to remove all our people from the building. we deployed our robot dog into the building. they are able to give us video inside and then we were able to fly our drones inside. at this time, we believe that we have the workers that were in danger in the building all accounted for. ama: this happened not far from the brooklyn bridge. a student says the collapse felt like an earthquake. dan: things are starting to look up for the 3rd street bridge in san francisco. giants fans know it as the lefty bridge. it was damage last month during the harsh storms when barges broke three in waves and bashed into the walkway of the bridge. after hard work to fix the
