the a's announced last night they entered a binding purchase agreement for land not far from the las vegas strip. the team sing the process to build a new park has made " little progress for some time." where details need to be ironed out. in a statement, the a's said we have made a strong and sincere effort to stay here. we recognize this is hard to hear. we are disappointed we have not been able to achieve our shared vision of a waterfront ballpark. the oakland mayor sheng thao also saying it is clear to me the a's have no intention in staying in oakland and have been using this process to try to get a better deal out of las vegas. i am not interested in playing that game. the fans in our residents deserve better. the mayor also said she will move forward with a plan. the lease expires next year for

the a's. it is not clear if they will continue to play there while the new stadium is being built. kumasi: this morning, we are hearing from the mother of the man who was shot and killed at home depot. the 25 are almost trying to stop a theft at the store where he worked. reporter martinez has more on what you will hear on abc7news. reporter: this mother is proud of her son blake moz. since he was young, he had a heart for serving others. he worked his way of the boy scout ranks and achieve the highest honor of eagle scout. these keepsakes are now remembrances. >> he was my heart, my firstborn. there here. reporter: on tuesday afternoon, authorities say he was killed while trying to stop a theft. he was a loss prevention employee.
