eight alone in oklahoma. churches and businesses completely destroyed. >> mireya villareal is in shawnee, oklahoma, good morning, mireya. >> good morning, we are 40 miles outside of oklahoma city, we were driving into shawnee and we see massive amounts of destruction. businesses and windows blown out. it is difficult to get to neighborhoods to assess the damage because of all of the debris and these downed power lines. look at this transformer, we can get this close because power is out all over town right now. >> overnight, a deadly outbreak of twisters across three states leaving a trail of destruction. >> i got confirmation of a tornado right in front of me. >> eight reported tornados touching down in oklahoma.

winds and the front moves east and fizzles on the southern part. overnight, could see storms as late as 3 a.m. in houston. that low that develops in mid-atlantic pushes it to the southeast, wilmington, outer banks, down to savannah, for saturday. by saturday night, the northern part is heavy rain. if you have plans or travel on i-95 on saturday afternoon from virginia up to washington, d.c. into the evening, philadelphia all the way to new york, we will get it into the early morning hours of sunday. >> could be rough going for a bit. thank you. to the abortion pill battle, supreme court delayed decision on the access of the drug. terry moran is at the supreme court with more. good morning. >> good morning, as of this morning, access to the abortion pill for women in america remains same as it has been for

years, but all that may well change by midnight tomorrow. the justices decided to give themselves more time, extend their deadline to extend sweeping ruling by a federal judge in texas, which would restrict access to the abortion pill. the restriction would require the pill be for only seven weeks of pregnancy, instead of 10. and 10 visits as opposed to one doctor's appointment today, which can be done by telehealth. the justices have several options here. they could allow restrictions to go into effect and that would change access to the abortion pill. or block restrictions while the case is litigated or take the case up themselves. once again, decide major case on women's access to abortion care

in this country just one year after they overturned roe v. wade and we will know by midnight tomorrow. rebecca. >> rebecca: a lot of focus on that deadline. thank you. we turn to allegations that the investigation into hunter biden is being mishandled. pierre thomas joins us with more from capitol hill. good morning, pierre. >> pierre: rebecca, good morning, we've been waiting to see if the investigation of hunter biden will result in charges, now allegations that the president's son is getting preferential treatment. this morning abc news learning an irs whistleblower is challenging assurances by the justice department that the investigation into hunter biden is not being watered down. >> the u.s. attorney in delaware has been advised he has full authority, been advised he is not to be denied anything he needs, not restricted in his having in any way.

>> pierre: in a letter to congress, obtainedybc an attorney represent irs agent says his client knows of preferential treatment and politics in the investigation. >> he's lost sleep over whether to come forward and at the end of the day, he's decided he would feel worse about himself if he did nothing and stayed quiet. >> pierre: the attorney for the agent until his name is withheld until whistleblower status does not name the target of the probe, sources tell abc news he's talking about hunter biden. he has been under investigation since during the trump investigation. one front involving his taxes, another if he made a false statement on gun purchases form. sources say last fall the fbi and atf concluded there is enough evidence to bring charges on both fronts.

years old, you have defects. >> according to records, the garage has several open violations, one deemed hazardous in 2003 about cracks. the mayor's office confirms the owners did make repairs in 2010 and was not cited in future inspection. they negligented to close out the citation. the sudden collapse raises concern about aging structures, particularly those with visibly cracked concrete. >> we have heard from the owners of this parking garage who say they are fulling cooperating with city agencies investigating this collapse and hearing heavy machinery of the demolition crews as they slowly take this building down and not damage the surrounding buildings. >> linsey: that is so important. thank you, staying in new york, mayhem in midtown when a car

plowed through an outdoor restaurant. andrew has that story. good morning. >> good morning, a wild scene in new york, the video is hard to watch. it all started when the nypd attempted to pullover a black cadillac for driving with a fake license plate. the driver speeding through the streets, trying to evade officers before plowing through outdoor dining structure, nearly missing a female pedestrian and taking out a street sign and fire hydrant before escaping on foot. the pedestrian was missed by inches, if you look at the video. an officer was struck and rushed to the hospital, but expected to survive. no arrests in this case have en investigation is still ongoing. really heroing video there, hard to watch, especially for the pedestrians out there and dining outdoors in midtown in the middle of the day.

doorbell. he is on the mend as the man who shot him is in court with the latest. good morning, alex. >> good morning, this was andrew lester's first appearance since the shooting. he entered a not guilty plea, charged with felony assault and armed criminal action. lester prosecutors say twice shot ralph after the teen rang the doorbell at lester's home thinking it was a different house. he was picking up his siblings and had life-threatening injuries, he had surgery and his recovery has been remarkable. after critical treatment, he was well enough to be released saturday and this morning our first look at him at home. this picture shared by their family attorney. the teen outdoors sitting on a bench smiling. his family says he is talking and they believe it is a miracle he is alive.

storms, not to mention planting a lot of manatee food. >> how much is a manatee eating on a daily basis? >> i believe the statistic is 10% of its body weight a day. if it weighs 1200 pounds, i 120 pounds of grass, quite an appetite. >> more than 450,000 clusters of eel grass planted underwater by hand creating 300 acres of manatee food. i got to help plant the last batch. >> when seal grass or eel grass goes in, it spreads? >> absolutely, can spread seven feet in any direction in one year, they sequester nitrogen, oxygen, and provide benefits to the ecosystem and the community through eco-tourism and cleaner

that, george, it is inspiring for sure. >> george: it is, that water is crystal clear. has there been a difference in the behavior of the manatee since the river was cleaned up? >> this is paul cross, director of operation of plantation at crystal river. i know the crews say you are seeing other fish and birds coming back because it is so clean. have you seen the manatee act differently? what can we do to make sure when we come to see them that we are good to them? >> the manatees are phenomenal. they come to thermoregulate and now they are staying longer and feeding, constantly feeding. you see the crumbles coming off them. word to the public, key is to slow the boats down. manatees hang out in five to seven foot of water and that is where we like to boat. slow the boats down when you can. >> that is how they get hurt and
