moving on to developing news, and abortion pill will remain on the market as a legal fight plays out. that happened yesterday from the supreme court. elizabeth schulze he explains the possible broader impact of this case. elizabeth: the supreme court putting a pause on rulings from lower courts that would have restricted access to a medication the cdc says is used in more than half of u.s. abortions. conservative justices samuel alito and clarence thomas dissented saying they would've let the restrictions go into effect. the pharmaceutical industry relieved by the high court's decision. president biden saying i continue to stand by fda's evidence-based approval. the stakes could not be higher for women across america. the council for alliance defending freedom which filed a lawsuit challenging the fda approval responded in a statement saying we look forward to a final outcome in this case

and we will hold the fda accountable. the federal judge sided with antiabortion activists saying it should have never been approved more than 20 years ago. legal experts say this case could have a much wider impact. >> if you could have a drug be approved and then have it pulled from the market, that is deeply problematic. if you are a pharmaceutical company you might think twice about investing money in research to develop drugs. elizabeth: oral arguments will begin on may 17 at the conservative fifth second court -- circuit court of appeals. that could ultimately send the case back to the supreme court. dion: in investigators say deadly shooting overnight appears to iy avenue. shots were fired at about 2:00
