the sheriff's office. >> they say it happened just after 1:30. they arrived and saw one person dead. >> we don't know how many subjects were involved but it seems like some kind of disturbance ensued and there was a shootout. >> the others went to local hospitals to be treated by injuries, one of them died. when authorities arrived, they noticed numerous shell casings. >> i pretty gunshots, i told my sister and she thought they were fireworks. >> police pulled up. > she went outside and noticed dozens of police. >> in my sister put on her shoes and went outside. -- me and m and went outside. we notice the body and they surrounded it. >> there is a notice on the door

nortof t 5 intorbound in the southbound lanes slammed head-on on into a black bmw. the pickup driver died. authorities say they believe he was under the influence of alcohol. the driver was identified as a 30-year-old from novato. his father tells abc7's son was on his way to work at the oakland airport. he says he underwent surgery today and has more scheduled for tomorrow. one woman is dead and two other people including a 14-year-old boy are injured following a crash in san mateo county. this happened just south of highway 90 two around 4:00 p.m. according to chp. investigators say the woman was in a bmw headed southbound headed in the wrong direction -- headed southbound when a driver in the wrong direction collided

with her. she is in the hospital with major injuries. an investigation into the anti-audit -- et al. police department ensues. there will be meeting with the district attorney next week. our abc7 news reporter has the latest twist to the scandal. >> we have a very urgent situation right now. the department of justice has to be part of the solution. >> they have scandal at the antioch police department. he and the congressman have written to the department justice to launch a formal investigation. >> we have some real constitutional issues and some public safety issues and some racism that we need to address immediately.

the city says three dozen former residents separate shelter. they're hoping regulations will stop homeless encampments from popping up. there is a 2.5 mile stretch of the trail in west santa rosa that has just reopened about a month after the county cleared a large homeless encampment. it has long been a magnet or large homeless encampments. or than a dozen firefighters are getting a chance of their dream career or a new beginning. the fired apartment program welcomed its latest graduating class in a ceremony in oakland. the 15 new graduates

dion: in drought years we embrace fire season but with snow levels this year we face a fire danger. we reach out to fire experts for their take on the latest predictions. >> i know knee-high and still growing. they will be dried out so there will be plenty of available fuel. there is cause for concern. >> fire experts weighed in a meteorologist that predicts that in california 400,000-one million acres will burn. that puts it at average or slightly above average for fire
