announcer: building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. >> was going on. >> a deadly shooting outside of a hookah lounge. unknown trouble spot and they want it closed for good. good morning. i am gloria rodríguez in four liz kreutz. meteorologist lisa argen is here. lisa: san francisco turning sunny later on. you do have a couple degrees of cooling from that system to the north that will allow for a strong sea breeze and patchy

fog. mount tam, 50. if the three in oakland. san jose, 57. even though there is fog, partial clearing. our 24 hour the deck of low clouds has made its walook at the wind, 20 miler hour. through the delta, increasing throughout the day. winds breezy. as a go through the next several hours, it is a sunny day. partly cloudy at times with a few degrees of cooling. gloria: the alameda p department said there was a shooting at the lounge and it has been ordered to be shut down. ryan curry went to the business and found neighbors concerned for their safety.

ryan: this hookah lounge off mission boulevard in hayward was the site of a shooting according to the alameda county sheriffs office. they say it happened after 1:30. they arrived and saw one person dead in front of a lounge. >> we don't kn h my subjects were involved, but it seems like some type of disturbance and shoot it and there was a shootout. ryan: three others went to local hospitals to be treated for gunshot wounds from the shooting. one of them later died when authorities arrived at the lounge, they noticed numerous shell casings. >> i was pretty sure they were gunshots, and i told my sister, did you hear that? she said they were probably fireworks. maybe three minutes after the gunshots, police pulled up. ryan: kimberly maximo lives a couple blocks away and pulled up and noticed dozens of police. >> went to go check what going on and on the floor, i'm pretty sure she saw the body, and police officers started surrounding it. ryan: you can see the front entrance to the hookah lounge now boarded up. the alameda county sheriff's office put a notice on the door, saying no one is allowed in

while they continue this investigation. we noticed multiple people boarding up the lounge saturday afternoon. we ask them if they owned the lounge, and we did not receive a clear answer. they declined to do interviews. maximo says this neighborhood is mostly quiet, but that lounge could bring is a dangerous crowd. -- could bring out a dangerous crowd. >> i want to say the area is safe but the hookah lounge i think it is not safe to be near homes with a lot of people and kids. ryan: the sheriff office says the county has cited the owner for violations of safety and selling alcohol without proper permits. >> we have come out for multiple disturbance calls drunken public , disputes, code enforcement has been out here. they have been closed down for not having proper licensing and permits. ryan: they are asking anyone with information to come forward. they did not say if they arrested anyone. in hayward, ryan curry, abc 7 news. gloria: for the third time this

weekend, police investigating a crash allegedly caused by a wrong way driver. a pickup truck drove the wrong direction down westbound 580 near 13. the driver was intentionally crying to -- trying to crash on two other vehicles. the driver of the city-owned truck it crashed into had minor injuries. the other driver suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital. an investigation underway into a deadly wrong-way crash. it happened around 3:30 saturday morning on 101 north of the 580 interchange. that is when a pickup truck heading in the southbound lane slammed head-on into a black bmw. the driver, a 22-year-old man, from santa rosa, died. authorities say they believe he was under the influence of alcohol. the driver in the bmw identified as 30-year-old trey from nevada, and his father tells us his side

-- his son was on his way to work at the airport. he says he underwent surgery yesterday and has more surgeries today. one woman is it and two other people including 14-year-old boy , injured following a wrong-way crash of interstate 280. it happened south of highway 92 at around 4:00 p.m. yesterday, according to the chp. investigators say the woman was in bmw headed southbound when a white ford sedan headed the wrong direction collided with her. the driver of the sedan has minor injuries. a boy who was a passenger in the bmw is hospitalized with major injuries. in san jose, roads have reopened after five people were injured in a hit and run crash with several people ending up in the hospital. two cars were involved at the intersection of berryessa. one had to be rescued.

they were taken to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. the passenger is still in critical condition. the immediate area was closed for several hours. the driver from the honda fled the scene, no word if they found the driver. as the investigation continues into the antioch police department, congressman calling on the u.s. department of justice to investigate, as three chapters of the naacp will be meeting with the contra costa district attorney. abc 7 news reporter anser hassan has the latest twist to this scandal. >> we have got an urgent situation in antioch right now, and the department of justice has to be a part of the solution. anser: the u.s. congressman is responding to the texting scandal at the antioch police department.

he and congressman -- he and the congressman have written to the u.s. department of justice to launch a formal investigation. >> be aware at this moment we have some real constitutional issues and some public safety issues and some racism that we have to address immediately. anser: this comes after reports reveal a chain of racist and homophobic text messages sent by antioch police officers over a period of almost two years. according to the contra costa county public defender's office, close to 40% of the entire police force may have been involved. you have been representing contra costa county in antioch for a long time. these text messages go back years. have you ever had any inclination that this was going on in antioch? or that it was so prevalent? >> i'm not naive, but i certainly did not expect anything remotely like this. anser: he gave the doj until may 5 to respond. he adds, it will not end there. he requested a meeting with the antioch police chief, stephen

ford. >> this type of racism in this profession is a large warning sign to me. it should be to every american. anser: the president of the east east county chapter of the naacp, which includes antioch, and she supports an investigation. >> more eyes and the more things we can see. this is an opportunity to right wrongs that have been around for a long time. anser: she is calling for federal oversight of the antioch police department. east county will join two other chapters of the naacp tuesday for meetings with the d.a. to present their concerns. >> it is one thing to be falsely accused of a crime, a second thing for the legal system to victimize you when they know a wrong has been committed to be able to correct that wrong. anser: in antioch, anser hassan, abc 7 news. gloria: a big day in the bay area. what can we expect weather-wise?

cornell barnard shows us the people who helped the planet. >> one jogmen found a , rather large printer, actually. cornell: tom is us some of the debris finished out of the canal by his customers on earth day. ready people got a free kayak or paddleboard rental if they set a course for trash above and below the water. many returned with a lot of weird stuff. >> i've been doing this for 12 years and it has been awesome. each year, you know we build on participation. we definitely help clean up the canal. >> what were looking for? look, another bottlecap. cornell: victoria hansen and her son matteo tg in irtth is>> trying to teach him how important it is to take care of our earth because it is a little scary. you know? we have to take care of it. it is the only one we got. >> what kind of things are you finding? >> all kinds of stuff.

[laughter] lots of plastic. cornell: organizers say 200 people came out for the event to make the park a little cleaner and help keep plastics out of the bay. >> with a small action like this, i think we can all come together and step forward and we can make a difference. cornell: in san jose, volunteers were cleaning up neighborhoods across the city to combat litter and blight. preserving the environment with clean air and water in the midst of climate change is the goal of many across the globe, the cool afternoon fog rolled in over the golden gate, a reflection of our amazing bay area microclimates. there was a lot of trash being collected in nearby golden gate park, near the san francisco earth day festival, where all things sustainable, recyclable and vegan were being celebrated. >> we want to keep the focus on having reusable, sustainable goods, so we can show people how easy it is to be environmentally conscious these days. and we wanted to have a lot of vegan food as well, so people can taste how delicious it is to
