our america, trouble on tap is now available on hulu and the abc 7 bay area streaming app. to learn more, head to abc7news.com/ouramerrica. holy goats. an enclosure of their enclosure and halted traffic on a busy san francisco street and it was caught on camera. the dog walker shared this video with us that showed one of his clients' dogs whimpering while walking near san francisco park on wednesday. turns out, it was at the site of these working goats blocking traffic along main street. the herd of 35 from city grazing were clearing invasive plants from the park when an unknown person cut a hole into their enclosure. genevieve church says the goats became agitated and made their

way toward the water, then back up the hill again. she thinks the sfpd for their help since the organization uses rewards based training and an employee of city goats was able to lure the goats back. the goats are all healthy and happy and were spotted on sunday relaxing in the sunshine. spencer: what a story. dion: i could watch that over and over again. spencer: i guess is easier than herding cats. it is time for weather. dion: it is for the greatest of all time? spencer: i will try to top that. talk about microclimates. now we have a calm wind at the golden gate, three mile-per-hour wind at san mateo, but 30 to mile-per-hour gusts at sfo, right between those two.

come to life at the disneyland resort. dion: new numbers from the senses for americorps shows that there is a shortage of volunteers. participation was just 23.2% in 20 want anyone -- 2021. california's nonprofits are in need of help, but the state's is still outpacing other states. 5.7 million volunteers contributed 379 million hours of service to california organizations. speaking of, that volunteer spirit was on display in san francisco today. nearly 300 people took part in the jim tracy 5k to defeat als at golden west park. jim tracy was the track coach at

university high school in san francisco and lost his battle with als in 2015. today's event raised over $115,000 for als research. in the east bay, hundreds of girls had the opportunity to try new sports and be inspired by pro athletes. the piedmont recreation department held its second annual play like a girl plus event at piedmont high school. a seven-time olympic medalist and thailand world cup superstar were among the athletes on hand. one mother says her eight-year-old daughter had a chance to try lacrosse and volleyball for the first time. >> i think it is a great way to empower the young girls that are here and to see role models in the sports and give them an easy way to get involved and interested. it is a great environment. dion: i am sure it hel self-esteem too. that event was open to girls and

police activities in san francisco on broadway street. all of this happening within the past half hour. let's get to abc news reporter j.r. stone live on the scene where you can see lots of police activity behind you. j.r.: beach. at least one person is dead and we are getting reports several other people were hit by gunfire. just to let you know up front, we are not going to move from this angle because on grant avenue, there is a body on the street. we are going to keep it at this angle tonight as we talk about this. we are still trying to figure out and get word of what happened. have not been able to talk with offices at this point but i have been talking with witnesses since i arrived. witnesses who tell me that at least six gunshots, or at least they heard six gunshots fired, came outside and saw somebody on the ground and saw other people who had been shot as well.

they told me emergency responders were able to get here quickly. they were performing cpr on the individuals in the street but sadly that individual is dead tonight. i can tell you from where i am located, i am at grand avenue in columbus. that section of the street is roped off with yellow crime scene tape where the body is, and that is where investigators right now are looking for any clues in this case. i can also tell you on the corner of broadway and columbus you have the condor topless club right there. that club is also roped off with yellow crime scene tape at this point. as to what the connection is from over there to overhear, we do not know. we are working together that information right now but as i said before, at least one person has died and there are reports tonight that several others were injured by gunfire. reporting live in san francisco, j.r. stone, abc 7 news. dion: certainly distressing

news. before we let you go, can you paint us a picture of that general vicinity? on broadway in that corridor there are a number ofnd restaurants and a lot of activity even at this time on sunday night. j.r.: there certainly is quite a bit of activity out here. we came across a number of partygoers as we made our way and arrived within the last 30 to 40 minutes. a number locations and club locations on broadway, also a number of locations like that on grant avenue and you can still see a lot of the patrons. a lot of those patrons are still out here this evening. big questions on where this individual and the other individuals were tonight, but again, we do not have those answers. i have been talking with witnesses who told me it was an extremely busy day out here. they say it was also an extremely busy night so we are working to get those details and hoping for those pretty soon. dion: we can only imagine

especially with the good weather we had earlier today, a hotbed of activity. j.r. stone live on the scene, many thanks to you. moving on now, tonight we are also following the latest with the emergency evacuations in sudan. the u.s. military racing to rescue workers at the u.s. embassy and their families from the country. tonight there are still an estimated 16,000 american civilians in that country. rhiannon ellie has more on the efforts. reporter: u.s. special forces including the navy's seal team six carried out a dangerous mission to evacuate american embassy personnel from sudan. three helicopters took off from a u.s.-based, flying hundred miles to sudan's capital. a national security council spokesperson told abc news that president biden authorized the operation on friday. he said, i am grateful for the

unmatched skill of our officers. they are lifted almost 100 american diplomats and staff along with families into the country -- out of the country. >> there are flying at 100 knots close to the ground at pitch black and. there is certainly risk. . reporter: the pentagon calling the mission fast and clean with no shots fired out of the choppers and no casualties. secretary of state antony blinken monitored the operation in real-time. the violence in sudan now in its second week, the result of a power struggle between two military generals. nearly 4000 people have been injured. several other countries including italy, france, and the u.k. are working to evacuate their embassies. the state department says there are no large-scale evacuation plans in place for the roughly 16,000 americans still in sudan. >> the pentagon says they could think about setting up a safe

corridor between the and port sudan, and using drones would allow the u.s. navy to take people out by c. reporter: with the airport now closed, that 500 mile road is one of the only ways out. abc news, new york. dion: there was a little shaking going on in the east bay today. three small earthquakes struck near antioch this afternoon. the first just before 1:00 p.m. was a 2.5 magnitude, followed by a magnitude 2.8 and 2.7 after p there are no reports of major damage or injuries. this past wednesday, there was also a 3.8 trembling in the same area. this morning, and american airlines flight was forced to return to the airport after a possible burn strike sparked an engine fire. this comes days after another american airlines flight caught fire as that plane prepared for takeoff. alex presha has more.

alex: 19 58 was forced to return to the columbus airport shortly after takeoff. >> mayday, mayday, we have a situation. reporter: the flames visible from this video taken from the ground. >> many people started crying and going into tears because we didn't know if we were going to make it or not. it was terrifying and i comforted as many people as i could to me. i don't know what to say. i am still in shock. i did not start crying until after i got out of the plane. reporter: the plane landed safely. the airline issued a statement saying the aircraft was taken out of service and the team is working to get customers back on their way to phoenix. the incident comes days after and american airlines pleading cut on fire out of dallas. >> the first instinct is that

the plane is going to blow so everyone is grabbing their bags, trying to get up and running the aisles. >> everyone was panicking, but we couldn't go anywhere. reporter: a spokesper american airlines tells abc news american airlines flight 2288 returned to the gate before take off after reporting a mechanical issue. aircraft was taken out of service for maintenance. alex presh ohio. dion: bed bath & beyond filed for bankruptcy today. the chain has been closing hundreds of stores since late last year and upcoming closures include san francisco's store on 9th street and the vacaville location. the retailer is filing that other stores will close on wednesday and expects to close all stores by june 30. experts say the bankruptcy filing was in evitable. >> the perfect storm we have seen the last few years. you had covid and supply chain

dion: what's up party. the annual mat today. it celebrates japanese american culture in many ways including food, performing arts, and exhibits. it involves more than 130 japanese american organizations. what a great way to have the celebration. spencer: it was a great day, and a beautiful weekend. things will change temperature wise. overnight we will see a few clouds moving through the area, but by 5:00 tomorrow morning, skies will be clear. overnight lows will be cooler than last night but still on the mild side, mainly in the upper 40's. high temperatures tomorrow, mid-50's at the coast, mid-to upper 70's inland, so cooler than today but still a pleasant day. then things start to warm up.

looking at the accuweather 7-day forecast, wednesday and thursday, high temperatures inland near 90 degrees. low 80's around the bay shoreline, friday still warmer than average with mid 80's inland, and then going into the weekend, we see temperatures dropping off closer to average, but the week ahead is going to be a warmer than average one, and a toasty couple of days wednesday and thursday. dion: we have forgotten how we all complained about the weather not being springlike enough. spencer: we can't satisfy us. we are complaining about too much rain, now too much warmth. dion: nothing is just right.
