arraigned to hear the charges against him tomorrow morning for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend and her 13-year-old daughter in oakland. according to the "east bay times," police have i defy the victims as 43-year-old rebecca jenkins and her daughter desiree. the shooting happened saturday night at an apartment near birch street near 94th and -- avenue b of jenkins' daughter was having a sleepover with a friend who also survived. a seven-year-old girl and the suspect's infant daughter were at home but not injured. 43-year-old antonio lamotta powell faces two charges of murder and attempted murder. ama: we are learning about a shooting in san francisco that left one woman dead and four others wounded. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard is live in the newsroom with details of what we know. cornell? cornell: yeah ,ama, police are looking for the suspects.

despite the violence, merchants believe the area is still safe, but they worry about the crime outside of the bay area. >> it is crazy. you don't expect to see that in your lifetime, and you certainly don't see it in england too often. cornell: taurus duane mitchell grabbed his cell phone as soon as he heard gunfire late sunday night. >> i heard gunshots, look outside, and there is a black suv, and a guy had shot this guy on a scooter, and he was trying to drag him back into the suv, and the body was limp, he could not do it, so he just left him. cornell: police say a 23-year-old man died at the scene from gunshot wounds. four others were wounded. police tweeted investigators believe this is not a random attack. employees at the nearby club rushed to help a woman who was shot. >> came running down, and he --

violent crime has no place in north beach or anywhere. >> yeah, we get, you know, a lot of tourists, a lot of people. cornell: -- dan: four of the victims, all in their 20's, were treated at the hospital everyone is expected to survive. although police believe this is not a random shooting, the motive for the crime remains unknown. thanks a lot. a california lawmaker and gun-control advocates have announced new state legislation to try to curb gun violence. the bills were announced and monterey park were 11 people were killed in that mass shooting in january could one of the measures aims to strengthen the process of taking guns away from people with criminal records who are prohibited from owning firearms. another bill would keep state and local agencies from selling guns, ammunition, and body armor. the third proposal increases

murder, and child molestation. tonight, the i-team has obtained private records to show there is a pattern of immigrants convicted of violent crime in san mateo county reoffending. the board of supervisors will vote on a controversial century ordinance tuesday night. if passed, it would prohibit any government agency in the county from cooperating with i.c.e., immigration and customs critic's argue the legislation overlooks public safety, lacking any exemptions for asylum-seekers who are convicted of murder, rape, and child supervisor ray mueller wants to change that. >> let's say a scenario where someone returns to the community who is a dangerous and violent felon, who has been deported, and there is a contact with law enforcement. the only way that our sheriff will be able to go ahead and actually work with immigration authorities will be to sue the board of supervisors. stephanie: the legislation is

30 pounds of meth with intent to sell, theft, robbery, and arson. the fbi indicates a clear pattern of recidivism in this group it one was booked in county jail 20 different times. another person charged with vehicle theft was booked in county jail 17 different times, and four others charged with assault with a deadly weapon and dui with injury, booked 11 different times. >> it is difficult for us, you know, to advocate for their rights when they are continually breaking the law. stephanie: for decades, rakim jiminez has been an advocate for immigrant rights and reform. >> especially with the shooting of farmworkers in our community, how about their rights? stephanie: charged with seven counts of murder after allegedly opening fire on two migrant farms in half moon bay. he is afraid they will come back

and retaliate. >> they get deported, they come back to the same community. stephanie: despite these concerns, more than a dozen local organizations supported legislation, but critics worry they may not have all the facts. data obtained by the i-team shows a pattern among some immigrants arrested in san mateo county. of the cases we analyze, two stand outcome of the victims were accused of sexually abusing children. one was arrested five previous times for previous crimes. the other, 14th and we asked supervisor canepa about reef he offenders last week. the doj has found a study that found child molesters have the highest recidivism rates. does that change your answer? >> look, stephanie, that is not going to change my mind. stephanie: we reached out to supervisor canepa again to shared information and request a follow-up interview, but we have yet to hear back. tomorrow night, the board will hear public, before a final vote.

volunteers walked out the steps for walk sf first-ever challenge. >> it is 2000 steps up and down through these iconic san francisco neighborhoods. it takes you through some of these very hidden as well as well-known stairways through san francisco, some that are tucked away. nancy: because of san francisco's geography, we struggled to find a walk under 3000 stair steps. karina: the route begins with baby steps at the joe dimaggio playground. it will go up and down stairways in north beach, russian hill and telegraph hill. one place it won't go is lombard street and its 250 stairs. nancy: we really tried to find the lesser-known ones, the slightly off-the-beaten-path but just as charming ones. a piece of granite -- greenwich street is a winding path that goes up parallel to lombard
