non-life-threatening injuries. >> data from our abc 7 neighborhood safety tracker shows the number of homicides in san francisco have inconsistent for a decade since 2013. you can look up crimes where you live on the homepage of abc7news.com. climate activist held in protest nationwide including in san francisco accusing the banks of being climate criminals. this group rallied in front of wells fargo's headquarters in san francisco. it comes before the banks hold their shareholders meetings tomorrow. protesters want shareholders to pass a resolution requiring wells fargo to stop investing in fossil fuels and end financing for fossil expansion. wells fargo released a statement saying have set a goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions including client emissions attributable to our financing by 2050. a big announcement from governor newsom. 690 million dollars will be allocated to more than two dozen

public transportation projects throughout the state in the bay area is going to benefit. the money is part of the state's initiative to shift from fossil fuels to cleaner methods of transportation. projects are designed to help disadvantaged communities. san francisco bay ferry is getting 13 william dell is to switch to electric fairies as well as double ferry service between alameda to san francisco. bta getting 47 million dollars to expand light rail service to connect with the milpitas bart station and the east ridge transit center. santa cruz county picked up funding to connect zero emission bus service to caltrans. >> oakland teachers could go strike. one of the main issues is teacher salaries. anser hassan has a closer look at the issues oakland teachers have been working without a contract since october of last year. the teachers union says the district has been bargaining in bad faith.

>> we have filed an unfair labor practice for the district's behavior at the bargaining table. >> the interim president of the oakland education represents the teachers. 21 proposals are on the table ranging from teacher pay to resources for students. he claims the oakland unified school district has canceled sessions and delayed bargaining. and that with the district is offering comes with strings attached. >> the district is saying they want to add more hours of work in order for us to get a raise. and we are saying those additional hours are going to drive teachers out of the profession and her children. >> teachers are voting on a possible strike that could come as early as the first week of may. he says the district could lose more teachers. >> our primary goa we settle a contract that keeps teachers in oakland. that is our number one goal.

tomorrow night that would restrict the county from cooperating with ice. >> stephanie sierras getting moo public safety. >> this issue is getting a lot of attention. the intention of this order hundreds is to bring more quality for people seeking asylum in san mateo county but it was still protect immigrants convicted of serious crimes including rape, murder and child molestation. tonight the i.t. has obtained public records that shows there is a pattern of immigrants convicted of violent crimes and a san mateo county reoffending. the san mateo county board of supervisors will vote on a controversial sanctuary ordinance tuesday night. it would prohibit any government agency under the county from cooperating with ice, immigration and customs argue the legislation overlooks public safety lacking any exemptions for asylum-seekers who are convicted of murder, rape and child molestation. supervisor ray mueller wants to change that. i will >> not be voting to

support this measure. let's say someone returns to the community who is a dangerous and violent felon who has been deported and there is a contact with law enforcement. the only way our sheriff will be able to actually work with immigration authorities will be to sue the board of supervisors. the legislation >> is autho by supervisor david cannibal on the grounds it will bring more quality to asylum-seekers. >> what is the difference if we have someone who commits a crime that is a non-immigrant and we have someone who is an immigrant? how is the community safer? >> do you know the recidivism rate of convicted criminals seeking asylum in san mateo county? >> i don't know. >> there is not comprehensive data on immigrants who repeatedly commit crimes. the eye team received some data from 2018 to 2021. according to the san mateo sheriff's office there were at least 35 cases were immigrants

convicted of serious felonies in san mateo county had a long history of prior arrests. that list includes people convicted of multiple acts with a child under 14 years old, rape, child abuse, dui with injury, grand theft, trans hoarding 30 pounds of meth with intent to sell, robbery and arson. the eye team found there is a clear pattern of recidivism among this group. one immigrant charged with a drug felony was booked in county jail 20 times. and of the person charged with vehicle theft was booked in county jail 17 different times. four others looked just charged with assault with a deadly weapon were booked 11 times. >> it is difficult to actually advocate for the rights when they are continuously breaking the law. >> for decades walking has been a strong advocate for immigrant rights and reform. especially right after the shooting of seven farmworkers.

how about their rights? >>ary d immigrant charged with setting counts of murder after allegedly opening fire at seven coworkers and a two mushroom's at half moon bay. he is worried migrants released from state prison and deported will come back to retaliate. >> there have been cases where people get deported and they come back. they come back to the same community. >> des than a dozen local organizations support the legislation. but critics worry they may not have all the facts. data obtained by the eye team shows a pattern among some immigrants arrested in san mateo county. the cases we analyzed two stand out. the immigrants were convicted of sexually abusing children. one was arrested five previous times for other crimes. the other, 14. we asked the supervisor about repeat offenders last week. the doj has done a study that found child molesters have the

police say the two new each other. please put the campus into lockdown briefly this morning. no one else was hurt. in california leaders announced plans for legislation. the announcement was made in monterey park array lunar new year shooting killed 11 people. carlos grounded from our sister station in los angeles explains how the new laws could prevent similar shootings. >> one in five people in america have had family members fatally shot. i am one of those people. >> powerful words from a victim of gun violence. two of her brothers were murdered. today in monterey park officials announced new proposed laws they hope to with prayer -- would reduce the number of firearms. >> in 2023 alone we have more than dirty mass shooting so far this year and it is april. tragically one of the more recent ones was right here in monterey park.

this empty field in south san jose may not look like much but i have the fight against homelessness a could represent much more. we have thousands and thousands of parcels of empty underutilized privately owned land across our steady and -- our city and tens of thousands across our state that said empty while our streets are full of suffering neighbors who just need a home. >> enter senate bill 634, a proposal to turn empty spaces into places for interim homes for the and housed community. since these units are built on borrowed vacant land cities would be able to bypass barriers of land and building costs and permitting. state senator josh becker authored the bill with the goal of getting people off the streets now well more permanent solutions are built in the future. >> it is absolutely heartbreaking california has the highest rates of homelessness and unsheltered homelessness in
