>> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. dan: months old hit by a bullet while riding in a car. her parents jumping out and running to the nearest fire station doing anything they could to save her. thank you for joining us. i am dan ashley. ama: and i am ama daetz. police say this evening on 12th avenue in east 15th, right next to franklin park in little saigon. and as of this moment, police have not made any arrests of a shooter >> as tragic as this is, this little girl is still alive, and that is the news tonight. i spoke to people watching while firefighters helped this toddler.

two bullet holes can be seen on the passenger side of this red honda. oakland firefighters confirmed a 15-month-old toddler inside the car was struck by at least one bullet around 6:15 monday night. >> i heard a lot of screaming outside so i just went out and there was three girls and one man. >> this eight-year-old and brother were inside their family's store across from oakland firehouse four. surveillance shows the car with the two holes in it. running to the fire station with the little girls in hand, trying to get help. >> i s the baby, she got shot right here. i heard the bullet came in here and out. they were crying, her parents. >> the fire department was putting stuff here to bowl -- block the bullets. j.r.: oakland firefighters come

the tub and was shot in the fire -- stomach area. the shots were fired in this area near 12th avenue and east 15th street close to franklin park and franklin elementary school, just a couple of blocks from the firehouse. firefighters say after the girl was shot, the family drove to the fire station to get help. police have not yet said what led up to the shots being fired. answers we talked with say it was especially tough to see the little girl in pain. >> i was very sad because i have a little sister and yeah. >> it is painful because i have a sister and i don't want that. to happen to her too. j.r.: no suspect information has been released and police have not said anything about any arrests. offices are asking anyone with any information to call the felony assault unit. that number can be found on our website, abc7news.com.

j.r. stone, abc 7 news. dan: thank you. meantime, one man is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend and her 13-year-old daughter. 23-year-old antonio lamont public faces two counts of murder and attempted murder. the shooting happened saturday night in an apartment on park street. police have identified the victims is 43-year-old rebecca jenkins and her daughter desiree. jenkins' daughter was having a sleepover with a friend who was also shot and survived. the family member of jenkins and her daughter posted this gofundme raising money for domestic violence awareness and the three other daughters jenkins leaves behind. the constant wrestling with gun violence and domestic violence in our communities leaves a heavy weight on anyone. we have compiled a list of

approved, it would not take effect immediately. it would likely kick in sometime in 2027. that did not stop several people from voicing their concerns. a heated meeting monday night. >> state route 37 busiest and biggest things we have going on in the bay area right now. tim: the california transportation commission's proposal would start charging tolls on state route 37. if approved, the toll would go into effect for a 10 mile stretch of highway 37 from solano county to sonoma county. officials say the roadway has multiple challenges, things like heavy congestion and increased flooding things to climate change. >> sea level rise is something we are looking for the long-term project, making sure we have the ability to keep the road open. tim: the current proposal sees the toll as a way to address some of the issues. on monday's meeting, several people came out in opposition. >> these tolls are a tax

me it is a restriction. tim: many commuters on this route live in vallejo and travel westward to work. at the meeting, they argued that the toll, which would be on the solano side of the highway, would unfairly impact them. >> these are working people no financial impacts on the wealthy employers, refusing to build affordable housing. tim: despite the opposition, transportation officials say in order to fund the project, tough choices may have to be made. >> in order to make improvements affecting the city and the county, we have to look at what to do to get these things alleviated in the short-term and long-term. tim: officials of the project would cost around $430 million. $80 million of that has already been secured. the question is the price you

would pay for the toll. officials promise the fee would be consistent with others in the region. dan: more to come on this. thank you. helping news, rising temperatures bringing rising concern from people as snow begins to melt in the sierra. engineers are closely monitoring potential flooding and are working to reduce the risks on communities in the valley. in yosemite, a flood watch will go into effect near the reset river thursday through tuesday as rivers and streams could begin to swell. >> we cannot dig our way or build our way out of this. we need to be smart with what the steps are we can take to protect as many people as possible. dan: we should see increased water levels at state reservoirs this week. officials will begin to distribute water pumps to local agencies to divert water from hitting communities. let's bring in spencer christian because it has been a lot warmer lately. spencer: it certainly has been

kitchenettes. it would have on-site support services and be staffed 20 47. -- 24/7. >> this provides a more safer and decent place to live temporarily when connecting with services. lauren: bella vista in is only temporary. some city leaders feel there needs to be an in-between place. for some residents who live in proposed site, they are speaking up as much as they can. >> the kids can be as old as 18 years. my feeling about this project does not change whether it is for families or the kids. >> anyone can get in that situation, but having a cookie-cutter solution that lumps everyone together and assuming that it is going to pan out in the neighborhood which has 15 schools. >> there is no incentive for the county to help us.
