along the coast and in the north bay. we will find temperatures in the 40s and 50s. right now, but visibility is down to zero miles and petaluma half mile in santa rosa. be aware of that numbers right now a light layer is basically all you need mid 40s to low 50s first thing out the door. so here's a live look at sutro tower a bit of fog crossing through the city will keep those coastal clouds with us throughout the day but it is a warm sunny day for a lot of us. we'll see 70 already by lunchtime away from the coast 70s and upper 80 as well above average for this time of the year by 4 p.m. and even warmer weather moves in tomorrow. we'll take a look at all the details in just a little bit. guys do developing news. a high school student is in the hospital this morning after she was stabbed by another student. it happened yesterday at northgate high school in walnut creek. parents got a note saying the students were near the school's pool and softball fields when that attack occurred. abc7 news reporter gloria rodriguez live in walnut creek with how the school's vice principal took the suspect down. gloria. good morning. kumasi.

what the vice principal did is getting praise this morning as far as the victim. we're told she was taken to a nearby hospital and we're waiting to learn more about her condition. we also know that counselors thy to help students cope with what happened. and now here's what we know so far. officers say they got a call around 1 p.m. yesterday saying that there had been a stabbing at northgate high school in walnut creek. police say a ninth grade boy stabbed a ninth grade girl. one mother says her son heard the commotion and then saw vice principal. not only help catch the teen stabbing suspect, but also helped hold him down. an our vice principal was the one that was able to tackle him. we were around the softball, the softball bleachers, and then we see our vice principal running towards something. we're like, what's going on? like it's kind of goofy, like what's going on makes me feel better. i think about him personally. that just makes it even better that he's

back to the coast as the morning goes on. the coast stays pretty cloudy. but as you move inland, it's a warm to hot day on the way. so taking a look at our average highs, we love showing you this to see some context as to how warm it will feel today. average highs this time of the year is in the middle column in gray. we're in the mid 60s to lower 70s. that's typically where we are for this late april day. but today we'll find temperatures in our warmest spots in the upper 80s from santa rosa to livermore to san jose where 51 degrees above average for this time of the year. we're closing in on 70 degrees in the city today. that will feel warm. oakland at 76 is ten degrees above average in redwood city. it will feel quite warm on the peninsula. sunny skies, 83 degrees. that means temperatures are 12 degrees above average. here is future weather. let's go hour by hour for you by 10 a.m. again, the trend is you need a light layer out there. this morning, but you can take it off pretty quickly by about 10 a.m. because temperatures are into the 60s

away from the coast already starting to see our first 70s pop up on the board. by 1 p.m, we'll have partly cloudy skies for some of us. and temperatures look at this already into the 80s. from san jose to concord to calistoga and santa rosa. even around the bay shoreline, it feels very nice in the 70s and those numbers will continue to warm. will reach about peak daytime heating at 4 p.m. this afternoon. we're in the upper 80s there. we're at 86 in concord, 84 in san jose, 86. in livermore, 88 in santa rosa. so it feels warm if not hot in the north bay oakland going into the 70s, 76. in hayward, 77 san mateo. but that sea breeze will kick in pretty quick today. so across the city by 4 p.m, we're cooling off into the low 60s. this evening, it's pretty nice, if any outdoor plans, temperatures will gradually cool off. we're still in the 60s and 70s though. by 7 p.m. looking at highs today compared to yesterday, this is going to be a warmer afternoon. we see we're well above average for this time

bargaining unit a living wage. educators need enough money to be able to stay in oakland. last week, the school board, the school district, i should say, went to a state board to try to block the strike. since it would coincide with ap testing. the district believes monday may first, will be the earliest day for a potential strike. may 25th is the last day of school. san jose police have shut down an underground casino operation that investigators claim was a front for criminal activity. officers raided six different locations across the city and one home in the city of los banos. they seized dozens of slot machines guns, drugs and about $285,000 in cash. multiple people were arrested at these locations, including a 43 year old man believed to be the primary suspect. it all stemmed from a community complaint from people looking in their neighborhood and noticing something's not right. something's going on at that residence, that small tip led detectives to discover this large cache of weapons, drugs,

gambling machines and many other illegal activities that are occurring at these locations. police also seized about 2000 pieces of stolen mail during the raids. oakland police say city streets are flooded with guns and the people carrying them don't care who they're shooting at. city saw four people shot in just 24 hours. this week. one of them a 15 month old girl. we were told that she is in stable condition, but her condition has not been updated since monday evening when she was listed as critical. a nearby security camera caught her parents banging on the front doors of a fire station nearby, pleading for help. our personnel, which are the best firefighters in the united states, went to went into immediate action and rendered life saving medical care to save this infant. so several hours later, two men were found shot at an apartment complex near the west oakland bart station. one of them died. police leadership

shooting or something like that. but it's not actually happening. swatting is when someone calls 911 to report a fake crime, as we just described, the most recent incident was an active shooter scare at the university of oklahoma. since last june, about 250 colleges and 100 high schools have received false reports like this. officials say, i and technology, which is ai is making really difficult to trace back these calls. technology is being used. you're using voice over ip. so these are not, you know, old analog phones that are being used to call these in. this is all voice over the internet. it's all using ai and other tools. experts fear these fake reports will cause enough fatigue that people won't take real shootings seriously. house speaker kevin mccarthy is trying to get the votes needed to raise the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion and avoid a us debt default. the government has never defaulted before. jimenez, at the live desk with what is at stake. thank you, kumasi. mccarthy has
