>> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. kumasi: now at shot inside a san francisco walgreens. the friend who was there describing what happened. reggie: what is being blamed for an outage in downtown san francisco affecting hundreds. kumasi: a decisive game six gets the warriors into the playoffs. let's start with a check of our forecast. drew: dense fog, warm temperatures similar to yesterday. numbers are pretty low in the coast and the north bay.

the marine layer is with us. we are waking up to the 50's so another morning you need a light layer showing you the fog has covered the city. we will find cloud cover along the coast all day. later today, it is hot inland but the coast remains cool. we will take a closer look at the highs and review the weekend. kumasi: a 19-year-old is in the hospital after being shot at a walgreens in san francisco last night on fourth and market streets. officers responded to a report of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound. she was transported to a nearby hospital. there has not been an update about her condition. abc 7 spoke with a woman who was friends with the victim. she was near the checkout register when she heard gunshots

and saw her friend collapsed. >> as i was walking out, all we hear was boom boom. she dropped to the floor. he didn't say nothing, just picked up the gun and shot twice. people in the store started charging him. kumasi: the friend said the victim was 19 years old. authorities say the person who was possibly involved was detained yesterday. they have not said what led up to the incident. reggie: a man arrested after altercation -- a judge ordered his release after the victim did not show up. officers say he could not appear because of medications he is taking due to his injuries. the public defender's office release video which they say shows the officer initiating the altercation and accused him of

targeting other un-housed people with bear spray. we heard from one of his friends in the public defender. >> why in the world couldn't they have done a zoom call? why wasn't the district attorney actively making this happen? >> unless he is credible and believable, they don't have a prosecution. reggie: the charges against have not been dropped. he is required to check in with law enforcement once a week. kumasi: a man and woman accused of a shooting are expected in court. the 32-year-old shot and killed a 26-year-old security guard last week. documents say she told police her gun accidentally went off as he tried to wrestle a stolen item out of her hands. a 31-year-old is accused of being the getaway driver. both are due in court in dublin.

reggie: flames in the middle, that's what's being blamed for a large power outage in san francisco, from a transformer in an underground pg&e vault. the fire happened late wednesday night and the lights may not come up until thursday morning. the outage is having a big impact. jr: this is new video showing what is called a vault for underground transformer fire in san francisco, flames shooting out of this manhole, smoke coming out near clay and montgomery. >> there was a big ball of orange flames with greasy black smoke that billowed up out of two manholes. j.r.: while the fire is out, so are the lights for hundreds of customers. >> we are hoping we get the power up as soon as possible. j.r.: the owner of the bar

barroso lounge tells us the power went out during a private event which was forced to end early with tabs left open. the power may not come open -- turn back on until saturday. a huge blow on a busy weekend. >> we have the warriors game. that could be the biggest night so you are looking at an estimate of 50 k plus. j.r.: there was talk of bringing in a generator, but a large one would be needed and management believes it would be too loud for the residential neighborhood. these small generators are going full blast at the end of the block for a special event that drew dozens of people eager to meet and listen to japanese architect speaking at a location without electricity. the board of supervisors

president says the fire department responded within three minutes but it took pg&e most experience with electrical fires, 45 minutes to get there. >> it's a freaking mess. pg&e has a lot of explaining to do. j.r.: those with pg&e telus their crews are working around the clock to get the power back on. they say the cause of this fire is still under investigation. in san francisco, j.r. stone, abc7news. kumasi: now to the state of real estate, abc 7 is looking into the closures and the financial impact on the city. what have we learned? jobina: 30% of downtown office space is vacant. that includes 350 california s a 24 story tower that once sat on some of the most valuable real estate. the building was worth around $300 million in 2019.

it is up for sale now and bids are expected to come in around $60 million. a huge drop. the sale could set the rate for other commercial real estate in the area. >> two geese have laid the golden eggs for san francisco, the tourism industry that is rebounding and the other was the downtown office economy. that one is in more trouble and is going to come with profound financial impacts to san francisco government's tax pace. jobina: the supervisor says the city budget is expected to be slashed by a quarter of a billion dollars and next year by another half billion. despite the toll that could take , he is hopeful the neighborhood will eventually turn around. he's backing legislation to convert vacant office space and do housing. reggie: it will almost certainly

u.s. soldiers are dead and another hurt after helicopters crashed during a military training flight yesterday near healy, alaska, south of fairbanks. their identities have not been released. the surviving soldier is being treated in fairbanks. we don't know the extent of that soldier's injuries. kumasi: u.s. senators are considering a bill to dan children under 13 from joining social media. the bill was introduced wednesday and would make tech companies get parents' consent. this includes twitter, facebook, instagram, and tiktok. lawmakers say it will help tackle the mental health crisis which some experts believe stems from social media. >> a number of our important allies in the world are taking steps in the direction of making the internet healthier and safer. the united states is behind and ought to catch up. kumasi: there is also a pilot
