leading up to the collapse of silicon valley bank. the federal reserve in that part blaming itself of the second-biggest bank failure in u.s. history. abc's elizabeth schulze in washington with more, good morning. >> good morning. the federal reserve is taking responsibility for its role in the collapse of silicon valley bank. in this sweeping internal review the fed says that it did not take forceful enough action to top sv be as it grew in size and complexity and even after it issued dozens of warnings, it didn't take steps to fix the problems of the bank fasten a. but is also putting the blame on executives. former ceo greg becker served on the board of the regional bank overseeing the company until the day of its downfall. now in this separate report there is a look at signature bank, that bank felt two days after, they also said they should've acted faster but

blaming bank management so what happens now? regulators say they will tighten rules on some of these banks in this midsized to run the berm having the type of collapse. somewhere after the trump administration but there are still concerns this banking crisis isn't over. virtual public bancshares tumbling yesterday more than 40%. it is possible by the end of this weekend the fdic could be forced to take over that bank too. >> all right elizabeth thank you so much so we will turn to the battle over abortion rights intensifying in several traditionally red states. ahead of the 2024 election, abc's oren shaw, good morning again. >> good morning, geo. right now many women in utah are holding their breath, a judge there is delaying a ruling on whether to implement a ban on abortions. what does that mean? it means if you are in utah you can still get an abortion right now up to 18 weeks of pregnancy. meanwhile there is another blow for the antiabortion movement

and this time it was in nebraska. there is an effort to ban abortion after the sixth with the pregnancy but that was short of the filibuster. abortion there remains banned after 20 weeks. nearly a year after the supreme courts addition was leaked samuel alito is speaking out he is telling them that the leak made the justices targets of assassination. he doesn't believe any of the judges leaked it but he thinks he knows who leaked the draft and he says he's certain their motive, he says they believe it was part of an effort to provide that might prevent it from being a decision of the court. as for the current national abortion debate, supreme court has preserved access to the drug mifeprizdone for now at least. >> we appreciate it. or jamie morning by noon are americans having faith lost in a degree? >> mississippi strong the

we want to look at postsecondary options. whether it's a two-year college or four-year college or whether you're going to take an apprenticeship or going to the military or take a gap year, there are some of the different options. >> when is the right time to start having these conversations with your kids to see what they want to do in the future? >> i think we don't want to put pressure on them, right? so having the conversations about a myriad of different options and opportunities is a really good first step. but to me, one of the amazing benefits about going to college is to figure all of that stuff out. and i think when you look at some of those price tags it can get overwhelming. you look at that and you think well, what if i don't get the job i want and i don't know what i want to do? but that's what college is for. college can help you figure out what it is you want to do and what direction to go. >> i can't tell you the number of people i went to school with who didn't know what they wanted to do. so, what do you do, right? at these high school seniors, they don't know what they want to do. how do you make them figure out

what their decision could be? how do you help them along the way? >> i think they want to take classes may be outside of there's a comfort zone. you think you want one pad, you can get off that train and take another. join a different club. there are so many ways to do this. and there is not one linear path and if you think you know you're talking about 16 and 17-year-olds. you can change your mind. how many adults do we know that of changed their mind in their jobs and careers? you really want to i think lean into all of that because you are growing and learning about what motivates you. that's a beautiful thing. >> as we were talking about really lean into it, you do, you are a college counselor, speak to the college counselor, have that conversation. >> absolutely. absolutely. >> jill, you are a pleasure. >> think you very much. >> geo thank you so much mississippi strong, robin roberts making a trip t this ef4 tornado last month. we were here right after the

in an egg in the booksellers is like the super bowl for you? >> yes it's a day everyone feels like i do where it is the most important in the world. >> and we love independent bookstores that's why and tell me about the activities today. >> the wonderful thing about independent bookstore day is like every independent bookstore itself, every place is different. so you may go to one store and they are having a bingo game. we you may go to another store and they are doing crafts for kids. or everything. every single bookstore has something else cooking. something else planned for their environment, their community. which is really why you should visit more than one. >> so to that point you said there are cross that play out? what does that mean? the last call i did was a long time ago did not go well.
