let's start with that increbl statearrid sthngut a win or go home game against the sacramento kings. with the series and season on the line. steph curry was at his absolute best. let's bring in abc news sports director larry beil because did you even see this coming? larry: no. nobody saw this coming. we are talking about the very best game seven performance in nba history as the warriors won on the road in sacramento and they advanced to round two. steph curry put the warriors on his back and he scored the game seven nba playoff record. 50. he almost single-handedly carried the warriors to this victory.

the start of a major move to crack down on the fentanyl market. chp and the california national guard teaming up with the sfpd and district attorneys office to get drug dealers off the streets. >> anything we can do to take that apart. tara: supervisor matt dorsey appears -- expects the support to go a long way. >> we have to make sure we are winding up support for the people who are going to have a harder time fighting drugs. >> we are targeting the supply like this, especially with people who do have substance abuse disorder and their prime mental -- and their primary substance is fentanyl. tara: gary mccoy is with one of the law -- nonprofits working with the city is in hopes of establishing safe consumption sites. these are places people can go to use their drugs under supervision in case of an overdose, then be connected to

services like treatment and housing. safe consumption sites are illegal under federal law, but the mayor's office and board of supervisors are trying to find workarounds similar to sites like those in new york city operated by a nonprofit. >> there are some conversations happening that fingers crossed we will make some progress on some of the overdose prevention sites. tara: last year governor newsom vetoed a bill that would have paved the way for some cities to pilot safe consumption sites, including san francisco. state senator scott wiener authored the bill. >> it was a lost opportunity when the governor vetoed our safe consumption site legislation, but hope is eternal and we will continue to try to collaborate with the governor and others to find public solutions to this crisis. tara: meanwhile, hope that the governor will reconsider as this new form of state support hits the streets. >> it is not going to be as

successful, like we do not have a public health intervention for people who use drugs. dion: we have been committed to covering this ongoing issue, including with our abc 7 originals documentary called injecting hope. tara campbell traveled to vancouver, canada to examine north america's first ever safe injection site and see how it works. you can watch injecting hope no one demand on our abc 7 bay area streaming app. several banks bids to take over first republic bank. federal regulators set a 1:00 p.m. deadline today for banks to submit their best takeover offers. according to yahoo! finance, a half-dozen banks including bank of america, j.p. morgan chase, and p.r.c. are likely bidders.

republic's health began withdrawing more than 100 billion dollars in deposits last year. that has led to first republic's stock dropping 75% since last monday. part of our mission in building a better bay area means finding progress in our communities. earlier this year we brought you a story about thieves who had broken into the open school of the arts. they allegedly stole 30 grand worth of instruments. but tonight, good news to report. thousands of dollars in donations have poured in and abc7news reporter j.r. stone wears -- was able to them as other students from the district did their part. ♪ j.r.: you cannot go wrong with the sweet sounds of the sax or those of a trumpet, violin, or other instrument, especially when the teenage students

playing together are from different schools in different cities. >> we just had a benefit concert to raise funds for the open school of arts. j.r.: this student school in moraga. for his eagle scouts project, he wanted to help the open school for the arts, where earlier this year thieves stole an estimated $30,000 worth of instruments. >> i wanted to help as much as i could end no better way than doing something like this. j.r.: a benefit jazz concert whether collective funds help oakland school for the arts. the better part here, kids from baraga collaborated with those from oakland for this performance. >> they come out and care about what happened to our school. >> it is helpful and it makes me very happy. there are other people our age in the community of young people who are willing to help other young people. j.r.: since the instruments have been stolen, donors have come

a popular social media influencer from the north bay been convicted on charges she likes to police about an attempted kidnapping. katie sorensen now faces six months in jail. as our reporter tells us, she was accused and had strong words. reporter: a popular social media influencer who falsely accused a couple of trying to kidnap her children now convicted of lying about the whole ordeal. >> monday this week, my children were the targets of attempted kidnap. reporter: katie sorensen, a mom influencer, uploaded this video that was viewed more than 4 million times. >> i share this story with you in an effort to raise awareness of what signs to look for. reporter: falsely claiming that two strangers tried to kidnap her children outside the petaluma michael's store. the d.a.'s office says the

office -- the video was posted a week after sorensen reported this alleged incident to the police. the accused couple, sadie and eddie martinez, recognized themselves in this photo and came forward to deny sorensen's claims. >> she was looking for content for her fame and her income. and at our expense. reporter: sorensen's attorney maintains his client did not lie to police. >> she misunderstood a series of random events which were around her and made an honest report to the police on december 7. reporter: her attorney adding one sorensen reviewed the evidence, realized she was wrong. >> i do not think she had understanding of how this would spread and the impact it would cause. reporter: but some legal experts say this verdict is not

accountability. >> this is a woman who mined clicks i get -- at the expense of a couple in california. dion: in the east bay, the oakland unified school district and its teachers have wrapped up a weekend of negotiations, but still no deal on a new contract tonight. both sides are trying to avoid a possible teachers strike with less than a month left in the school year. open teachers have been working without a contract since october. the union wants a 23% raise while the district is offering 22%. the union says that 22% require teachers work an extra two hours a week and it will not begin to certify teachers for all positions. dathwi h peect conditions for kite and windsurfers on the bay. maybe it was not so windy, but we saw this across the bay area. frances: you could see the whitecaps in the water. it was really windy for me today. i find it not too pleasant to be out, but the kite and windsurfers love it. the wind has cleared out some of the clouds but it is still breezy out there. check out the gusts in oakland at 44 miles per hour, sfo at 33 mile per hour gus and san francisco, 35 mile per hour wins. that will allow temperatures to cool down with this onshore flow and winds coming from the northwest, so it is cooler air. the cold front moves through. temperatures right now are in the low 50's and overnight tonight we will start to see increasing clouds. we will drop into the mid-40's

dion: the world could lose 14 million jobs over the next five years, and you can thank the rise of artificial intelligence for part of the reason why. a survey from the world economic forum predicted employers eliminate more jobs than they create. the jobs most at risk include administrative positions and data analyst positions as those jobs could become more automated. in the south bay, students put their minds together for a problem that many of us experienced recently. students from the fourth through 12th grade interacted -- participated in the interactive event in the south bay. the problem they attempted to solve was how to build a

texas. a neighbor accused of execution style killings. police calling him armed and dangerous. tonight there is an $80,000 reward for information leading up to his arrest, and police say he gunned down five people inside a home in texas. rhiannon ally has the latest on the manhunt. reporter: the fbi saying on sunday they have no leads as they search for francisco oropesa, releasing these photos of the suspect who they consider armed and dangerous and offering an $80,000 reward. >> we do not know where he is. we do not have any tips right now as to where he may be. that is why we have come up with this reward so hopefully somebody out there can call us. reporter: at least 200 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the fbi, are searching for the 38-year-old suspect. he is accused of gunning down five victims inside a home in cleveland, texas.

deanna velasquez alvarado is a jonathan cassara's, and a mother and son, all honduras. authorities say two of the women who died were found lying on top of surviving children covered in blood. >> a lot of people died in my county. reporter: authorities say oropesa was firing his ar-15 on his porch for fun when garcia who lives next door asked him to stop. authorities say the suspect, allegedly drunk and enraged, stormed into garcia's house and shot. >> i never had a problem, garcia says. the community surrounding garcia with support, coming together on sunday to pray for the victims as the manhunt continues. rhiannon allie, abc7news, new york. dion: a popular downtown

restaurant is closed for dinner after a car smashed into the dining room this afternoon. the crash happened during the lunch russ. -- lunch rush. glass flew everywhere. firefighters say there were three minor injuries. no one needed to be taken to the hospital. the building owner says he spoke with the driver. >> he says the gas by mistake, froze, car lurched, and found himself inside. so he does not really know what happened. you can imagine in the middle of it all a big shock. dion: the owner says the driver was a nice guy and they will sort out damages through insurance. firefighters say there was nothing structurally compromised. tonight, pg&e says power is now

restored to all but a few remaining customers in san francisco after a massive days long outage from last week. here is a live look at the pg&e outage map right now. you can see there, but remember back on wednesday night, a fire in an underground transformer volt knocked out electricity for thousands. pg&e was shooting to have all power restored at the top of the hour, currently about 80 customers in the dark. the only shelter for the un-housed in the city of alameda is closing its doors tomorrow. told you about the pivotal role that the christ episcopal church played in providing shelter during our wet winter. it opened its doors and provided a house -- a warm place for the unhoused to sleep. tonight is the final night guests can sleep in the shelter.

they held a final dinner this evening and the church is already planning to reopen next winter. >> we have begun to think about how this model will continue to grow next year, who our community partner will be, and how it will be more sustainable in terms of our volunteers and how to partner. with other faith-based organizations. dion: the church has been helping guests transition to other places to live. organizers served countless people, underscoring the need for more affordable housing in the region. on the coast of san mateo county, we saw a massive celebration of the canticle ingenuity power and style. the 30th pacific coast dream machines show is back in half moon bay after a covid hiatus. on display today were warbirds from the past, classic cars, and spectacular looking boats. organizers called this display the coolest show on earth and judging by the turnout, there were plenty of takers to check

dion: our mission in building a better bay area always means keeping an eye on our environment. the largest patch of pollution on the planet is also teeming with life. weather anchor spencer christian is not here tonight, but he did go out to find out what these patches mean for the ocean. >> this is broad fish.

aren't they cool? spencer: this marine ecologist has always considered the frog fish remarkable sea creature, but not for the reason it has her attention now. this one was plucked from a man-made environmental disaster zone, a massive stretch in the pacific ocean known as the great pacific arbiter patch. -- garbage patch. >> the great interesting thing about the garbage patch is that it has created a floating coastline that has that three-dimensional structure a lot of these coastal species depend on. it has sort of become a substitute environment. spencer: a substitute environment with an estimated 80,000 tons of plastic, fishing next, and trash floating in the pacific. we got a closer look last year when the recovery ship returned to south toledo. mary crowley directs

voyages institute, which organizes the cleanup missions that have expanded into an unexpected program of scientific research and providing specimens. >> we have discovered a tremendous amount of things on the expeditions. if you look closer, you can see things that are growing out there. >> this is a mussel. spencer: growing and thriving. back at the smithsonian environmental research center, this scientist is helping to identify specimens, anything from tiny crustaceans to larger fish. floating along with them are several critical questions. if those mounds of plastic can support life, can they also spread quickly into the marine food chain or carry invasive species from one continent to another? >> if these coastal species that are only found on one side of the pacific associate and are able to live out their lives and reproduce and perhaps grow in

number on the floating garbage patch, they may get close enough to the other side of the pacific. spencer: the doctors as many of the key questions are still left to be answered. then the meantime, mary crowley says her organization is hoping to add a new vessel in the near future, joining a fleet that has a dual mission to understand the ecological effects of the massive garbage patch at the same time they are trying to clean it up. spencer christian, abc 7 news. dion: you and i were like this watching. [laughter] frances: fascinating. dion: the frog fish among others. frances: we are also watching the wind still strong out there right now. gusting to 44 miles per hour, over 30 miles per hour at sfo and san francisco and even over parts of the east bay. temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 40's, low 50's. some clearing in the north.

times. >> definitely, having some major injuries and trying to find a way to get better and take my game and body to the next level. just having my core strength, mobility, and i feel stronger physically and mentally out there. some of that, it added two years ago, and so i give a lot of credit to joe. chris: for a lot of the rebounds you get, steph is not helping you because he gets a lot of baskets. how special was tonight's performance in game seven? >> it was great, watching growing up to playing in the nba. people talk about everything on the line and putting up 50 points, he is getting double lit, and they switched up the defense and he had to answer for everything. it was special to watch and even more special to be part of it. chris: a quick thought on the
