a major move by governor newsom to fight the fentanyl crisis on san francisco streets. amanda del castillo live at city hall with what you might see in some neighborhoods and how people feel. amanda: deployment begins today with the california national guard insisting that this is not about boots on the ground but rather support for work already underway by the san francisco police department. those in the city will begin to notice chp officers in high crime areas including the tenderloin and south of market. it is not clear how money officers will be hitting the streets but the agency has 75 uniformed officers in san francisco. the belief is increased pre along with sfpd will help deter drug deals. a team of 14 national guard members will work behind the scenes to gather intelligence on cartels and drug trafficking.

place. no words on any arrest. there were pictures of some of the cars being towed, warning that any vehicles involved in illegal sideshows should be -- could be seized enough up to 30 days. reggie: negotiations resumed today between the oakland unified school district and the teachers union after marathon meetings. ryan curry is in the newsroom with the effort to avoid a strength. >> good morning. both sides not able to come to an agreement on a new contract. the teachers union told abc 7 news they have 21 proposals on the table. the teachers are not going on strike but they will be meeting with the district today. both sides are trying to avoid a possible teacher strike, especially with less than a month of school left in the year. over the weekend teachers and supporters started making signs in anticipation of a possible strike. those proposals range from school safety to class size and teacher pay. the union wants a 23% range --

raise. the district is offering 22%. there is still plenty both sides have to discuss. >> i have not seen a completed salary proposal or special education proposal. we are having conversations and we are still waiting for the district to provide concrete proposals so we can get to the finish line. >> the unions as they 22% the district is offering would also require teachers to work an extra two hours per week and would only be given to certified teachers. that means 66% of the membership would not be eligible to -- for a salary increase. ousd did not return our request for comment but has previously pointed out that any salary increase would require funding. in the newsroom, ryan curry, abc 7 news. kumasi: the tenderloi getting additional attention. should it was kick off to the tenderloin love week, with

kumasi: thursday night, a 50-year-old man was found dead at another park nearby. arrested on unrelated charges, police have not said if that person is a suspect. police say they have no evidence to connect the attacks. reggie: an urgent search happening in texas with the man accused of shooting and killing his own neighbors at their home north of houston. victims included an eight-year-old child. jobina is at the live desk. jobina: authorities have zero leads and are conducting door-to-door searches. hundreds of people gathered at this elementary school north of houston last night, remembering victims of a shooting rampage that has the small community living in fear. wilson garcia and his wife were hosting guests on friday night when garcia says his neighbor francisco began firing and ar-15 from his porch for quote fun. when he asked him to stop, the

man stormed into his house and began shooting, killing five people including his wife and son. after his wife was shot, another woman told him to she knew his wife would not survive. >> this is a small community where every weekend people fire weapons for fun. what happened at this house though, nobody thought was possible. >> two women were found lying on top of surviving children and witnesses describe the other children surviving after someone through a pile of clothes on top of them to hide them. authorities and send dogs tracked him to a wooded area, finding his clothes and phone but then lost track of him. investigators are offering an $80,000 reward for information real -- leading to him. texas governor greg abbott is facing criticism for identifying the victims as quote undocumented immigrants in the
