walgreens on market street. earlier today, a crowd mourned the shooting. sanncisco says her heart breaks for brown's friends and family. jenkins goes on to say that you have reviewed statements from the suspect, and video footage from the incident. the evidence clearly shows the suspect believed he was in mortal danger and acted in self-defense. dan: teachers in oakland planning to go on strike after days with negotiation. the union announced a plan to strike tonight. if there is no deal, the walkout starts thursday. tim johns is in the newsroom and with a month left on the school year, parents are split on this. tim: if this strike goes through, it seems like it will divide some members of the community. while there were some parents that showed up in support this afternoon, others petitioned for

those teachers to continue negotiating. >> we are going to strike over the unfair labor practice. tim: the clock is ticking over a likely strike by oakland teachers. if they cannot reach a deal by thursday, 3000 union members will go on strike. >> we have done everything we can to avert this strike. the district has failed our students and the time for us to act is now. tim: teachers are asking for a 23 percent pay raise across the board. that would put them roughly in line with other educators in the area. and while, the district has offered a 22% raise for more senior educators verse, but a lower percentage for those with less experience. >> we stand with our teachers. it hurts us to see this happen to our teachers. tim: in response to the potential strike, ousd reads a statement which says in part,

our team remains at the getting table since thursday and 10 used to work in good faith towards contracts that are good for both sides. we remain optimistic we will come to a resolution to prevent teachers from hitting the picket line. that is also what some district strike. many signed a teachers to stay in the classroom. >> it is not fair, equitable, just. these students continue to miss critical classroom time. tim: parents. she told me after the strikes of 2019 and the closures from covid, oakland kids cannot afford to lose any more valuable classroom time. >> coming down to the last four weeks of school, there are going to be so many kids impacted on

this. tim: oakland teachers have been warning out of contracts for months. their last one expired in october. ama: thank you, tim. the city of san rafael announced tonight its independent investigation is over into a complaint of excessive force by the police. two officers confronted gardener drinking beer with emot street. it quickly turned violent with the man suffering a broken nose, a concussion, and a shoulder injury that required surgery. that investigation is over but the police needs another week to decide if the officers will be disciplined. many watching the council meeting were not happy. >> for nine months you have dragged this on, and it impacts us. it impacts me in my body. >> trust has been compromised and the longer it takes to decide whether justice will be

tomorrow we will see the start of a push to crack down on the supreme court. the senate judiciary committee is holding a hearing about the ethics behind the court's justices, but chief justice roberts has already declined to testify. this after several media reports alleging justices have not disclosed personal or financial deals that could be conflicts of interest. the supreme court does not have to adhere to the same ethical rules as lower courts. recently, lawmakers have introduced several bills that would force the supreme court to adopt an ethics code of conduct. >> we are trying to rebuild some of the credibility gap, the integrity gap we are starting to see right now. ama: one gallup poll from last year shows 25% of americans have confidence in the current supreme court. last week, all nine justices

lauren martinez explains. lauren: getting homeless families off the streets and into temporary housing is dividing residence in santa clara. vote tuesday evening after months of planning adjustments and community input. >> there has been a lot of fear but this issue is about helping people, getting people off the streets and into housing. laen lisa is the founder santa clara housing advocates and created it as a result of this project. >> the only thing that kept me off the street was community support that i was lucky to have. lauren: a fellow member says this project is a small part of a systemwide approach that needs to happen. >> just because it is not going to fix everything does not mean it is not a necessary thing to do. lauren: santa clara county and the nonprofit are expecting to build a housing unit that

three quarters in oakland, san jose about 0.03. rainfall so far pretty light. 200 san jose and martin but noland with a third of an inch of rain. today's highs were well below average and it was a very windy one for parts of the bay area. the winds have dropped off but it is still gusty around oakland. on our exclusive storm impact scale, tonight through wednesday is a light level 1, scattered showers and the chance of thunder and hail will be best tomorrow with snow level around 4000 feet and rising tomorrow afternoon. 5:00 tomorrow morning, you see the mixed precip over mount hamilton. the commute could be slow going, so give yourself extra time as we go towards afternoon and evening. rainfall intensity picks up, comes back around and we could see some thunder as well.
