>> good morning, america for our viewers on the was on this historic morning. we begin with that massive celebration for the coronation of king charles iii and queen consort camilla. a dramatic flyover, flyby over the crowd at buckingham palace. jets trailing, streams of red, white, and to. that rain coming down in london. but could not possibly dampen the festive mood for the first british coronation in 70 years. newly crowned queen and queen took to the balcony of buckingham palace along with other members of the royal family just a bit ago signaling a new era for the british monarchy. >> and thousands of well-wishers outside the palace waving flags, so excited to witness this moment. before that, there are lots of other memorable moments. chris williams -- prince william kissing his father after putting his loyalty to him and young prince george in his page. at nine-year-old who is second in line t

dawned with the blend of families and meeting queen camilla and all of her family and to her pages, her grandsons and her sisters. but for me, the moment that really made me emotional was watching prince william kiss his father during the march portion of the coordination. it was very endearing. not only were we witnessing history seeing a future monarchy kiss the king but we are seeing a father and his son in a very intimate special moment and you could tell by the king's face how emotional he was and how serious he was taken out of it. i also loved sitting next, the sky, james longman, who knows so much about the hth dient so the coordination. it was such a joy sitting with you. >> robert: i had a great time, laura. and it made me proud to be british. whether or. whether or not you are into monarchy or you think that monarchy should exist, whether or not you are not religious

because today really was a religious ceremony above all else because he has been invested not just as head of state. head of the church in england. it was a journey through history. i enjoyed every moment of it. it was so much fun. these people behind us were going crazy for us also. even in the rain. it rained back in 1953 for the queen's coronation. it was just an extraordinary day and you will hear no around for this magnificent day of history. this morning, charles iii crowned king in a historic ceremony planting the ancient with the modern. >> god save king charles. >> robert: his wife camilla also crowned queen. a day steeped in tradition and pageantry. leaving buckingham palace, creating throngs of well-wishers from the diamond jubilee coach on their way to london's historic abbey for the coronation. great and so much fun watching you both. thank you very much and we are going to turn to the thousands of people from around the world gathering in london to be a part of history. abc's britt clennett has been meeting some of them. good morning, read. there must be a lot of excitement along with the rain i see. >> lama: really is and it has been quite an incredible moment as of we are trying to figure out exactly how the british public feel about this moment. at the end of the day, this is a moment in history that people have been coming out in the cold and the wet weather to witness. we spoke to people from the u.s. from germany, from canada and australia and they all wanted to witness this slice of history as i say, the carriage,yo, at buckm palace as well, there was an audible gasp from the crowd when the five has happened is that royal family stood on the

balcony, the crowd really erupting in cheers as those colors were imprinted along with the sky and then people leaving us telling us this is exactly what they came for that they wanted to witness this moment and that they are very happy that they got a slice of hist history. so, you know, this is when it was meant to be about. the people and i feel like that is what was really achieved today. >> gio: britt clennett, thank you. we appreciate it. braving the elements. let's bring in abc news row contributors victoria murphy and robert johnson for their take on the coronation and what it means for the future of the british monarchy. thank you so much for staying with us. i know it has been a long morning so far but so exciting. i hope you got some coffee and tea in between. robert, let's start with you here. when you think about what we witnessed today, what was the overall message? was it a unifying one? >> robert: without a doubt, it was in a fine. it was very inclusive. and remarkable coronation.

and i think that you only have to look at the hegr in particular to realize how far this country has come and i think yes, it was steeped in symbolism and there was also part and pageantry that you would expect with the coronation. i was particularly impressed by the way that the kings conducted himself. he emerged i think someone -- somewhat different after the experience and i think he will emerge from being the king after the death of the queen. he will say, must be thinking now. i have got the crown on my head. and really impressed me was the inclusivity of the animation, the submission which can celebrate his diversity and the 21st century in and i think that was very, very important. also i think that that message was loud and clear. there were women involved in the major roles in that coronation. there were black faces and there were white faces and a lot of

smiling faces. ig is only just new to e j. a lot of young people in this country are fairly apathetic about monarchy and the system of monarchy. >> janai: that is what we want to ask about next. victoria, were there any signals about what we can expect from king charles' ray moving forward? we heard a lot about inclusivity today. do you think that will be part of it? >> victoria: absolutely and i think he sent a strong message with the correlation. -- coronation. totally different to 1953. sending a very strong message there that this was an opportunity to showcase the modern britain. that would was very important as what was that they added something in at the beginning that he said upfront which was i'm not here to be served. i'm here to serve. really kind of orders? this idea that he wants to be humble. he wants to listen. and finally, i think seeing all of that family on the balcony

there, that was pivotal. he is going to be doing this with the support of his family. >> and the new prince and princess of wales will have a different role in the monarchy. what hence of that did we see this morning? >> robert: i think william kissed his dad he responded, thanks, william. he was the only guy that swore his allegiance to the king. you know, he is now -- as he said he was and he is going to be that guy. they guard that supports his that the man who is right behind him. i must have been they are going to be the star couple, you know? the prince and princess of wales are going to be the ones people will look at. they will deal with the press, the photographs, all things there because actually they're going to be out and about around the world probably around the commonwealth and the rooms trying to sort of dreamt up the right message for this country. in my opinion, they were very,

around 100 heads of state. as essay, president biden not attending but the first lady was here together with her granddaughter. what was notable about the guest list is that there are also hundreds of young people representing charitable organizations. this was much more diverse than the late queen's coronation. spencer and brother was not on the guest list. and supposedly. although it is unclear if he wanted to attend anyway. given the history of the relationship between charles and camilla. of course, harry was here atten overl, was a slimmed-down guest list with a mere 2,300 attending. and then trying to show that charless in touch with modern britain. there have been protest today against the monarchy with peopl, not my king. even booing at times. the police making some arrests. although their numbers are relatively small compared to the crowds who came here to celebrate, it does represent i think a cooling of that relationship between king and

subjects and some of the challenges that lie ahead for charles to try to keep the monarchy relevant and very different country than the one his mother became queen over 70 years ago. gio? >> gio: very different country indeed. thank you so much for that and we will have much more from london coming up including prince harry and brinston williams together for the first time since their grandmother's funeral and a look at the star-studded celebration that is still to come. but first, let's go ahead and get a check of the weather with somara theodore and you are following some tornadoes in somara: yh, bk s are looking at ef-0 tornadoes in california and on average they are looking at about one during the month of may each year. we have seen two. this is actually a final crowd in fresno, california. and this is s dag caifnia near competent. this is where we see the ef-0 spigots cars were flipped and the roofs ripped off. we are tracking more severe weather. so here's what is up next for areas like wichita falls now

guatemala. it allows the u.s. to expelled migrants using a covid era restrictions set to actually end next week. and border communities are bracing for a surge in crossings. officials are anticipating as many as 10,000 migrants are going to be crossing the border each day. we also traveled to a nearby makeshift shelter a 10 camp that is in matamoros, mexico. it is across from brownsville, texas. people are desperate there. thousands waiting for their chance to come into the united states either by signing up an appointment or on top of that crossing the river. border towns like this here, brownsville, they are not the only ones. new york city just announced that they are out of emergency shelter facilities. out of space and so now they're going to be housing asylum-seekers in city gymnasiums and also working with nearby communities to use their emergency shelters in the meantime. communities like this brownsville, laredo, texas, even

el paso those are not the only cities that we were talking about were talking about. over the next week or two. guys? >> janai: important reporting to we appreciate you. to that suspect in the orders of four idaho college students. new police body camera video. abc's faith abubey is here with the details. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning to you, janai. these new videos and a company quarter dockets are giving us a close look at the tragic coach daboll murder investigation. you remember 28-year-old was arrested at the end of last year accused of killing university of idaho students madison logan ethan chapin in november. one of the newly released police videos captured a month before the killing show kohberger talking his way out of a traffic ticket. this is significant because the traffic stop after kohberger allegedly ran a red light was not too far from the university of idaho and kohberger is driving the same white vehicle thice heon
