written proposal that was received last night and said it is different from the one they got on wednesday. they are not meeting here to devise a new counterproposal. to begin with, the union claims what they say they got was an incomplete contract, and that some of the proposals are actually labeled arsenal proposals. the oea says this contract has some errors. >> for example, in our language for pe teachers and it would be a reduction. one pe teacher would get two students, which would be great if it was a personal training class, but that is not what our pe classes are. the air, this -- air, this is contract, a legally binding piece of language, that these errors, the air showed up on monday and again yesterday --

again yesterday. we need him to show us they're putting the work forward. >> i reached out t who did not return request for comment but an email statement this morning says it put forward a historic contract that offers $70 million toward salary increases and states they are making concessions on teacher workload. now, here is the problem, both sides seem to be stuck on common good proposals, issues that go beyond classroom learning such as environmental justice, shared governance, student homelessness. the district says those are societal issues that need to be discussed in partnership with the state, county, and city, and not mandatory to negotiate. the district says thus, rather than finalize the details on items typically in a contract such as compensation, we have been forced to focus on common good proposals with oea leadership. the union says they want a complete package that includes common good proposals.

they say other school districts like richmond and other districts in the bay area throughout california have them and say if they cannot reach a contract by sunday, they will strike again on monday. dion: something i know you will continue to follow. thank you. blas time open teachers went on strike was 2019 was that strike lasted one week. we will continue to cover the strike for as long as it takes and you can follow the very latest on the bay area app on your smart phone or wherever you happen to stream. right now, the reparations task forces voting on recommendations for that final proposal with open today that is said to be delivered to open lawmakers this summer. reparations task force is near completion and has studied and researched the negative impacts of slavery on its descendants for more than two years and the panel's would contain an apology , policy changes to address various forms of racism, and

more. african-americans living in california within ancestor our ancestors tied to slavery could receive cash payments. panelists say the time is now. >> i think there comes a point in time that we have got to be practitioners. we have got to be social engineers. and make sure that we deliver something to this black population, or else we will never do it. dion:dion: the final report will contain 95 recommendations for determining what preparations will look like in the future. state legislators must pass some are all of the recommendations in july. in the south bay, santa clara county released its latest budget as planned with the goal of closing a $120 million projected deficit. county officials want to fill the gap by eliminating 650 out of the 3500 vacant , the book in the santa clara

welcome back. i wanted to say, earlier said something came out quite the way i did not want it to. and i just wanted to apologize if it sounded different than i meant it to be said. i wanted to apologize for that. dion: now that slur came durin a pregame segment before the a's took on the royals. he made the apology in the sixth inning. the a's released a statement saying the language used by glen kuiper is unacceptable and he has called play-by-play since 2006 for the a's. check this out. cars and flames in oakland, while other cars backed up traffic during a sideshow. people are seeing lighting fireworks as well. video shows multiple cars burning. crews eventually put out the fires as officers cleared the traffic. embers captured at least one car involved in the sideshow being towed. a newly constructed offramp is set to open tomorrow, ribbon-cutting for the eastbound ramp took place today. drivers will notice the trains. it is off the far right lane of the lower deck where the former offramp was on the far left lane . that will remain open for several weeks to give drivers some time to adjust to the new location. ♪ kindness was on a roll today in san francisco. we will see how all interior surprise kids today in the bayview. and, taking a live look outside on the cloud cover on this soggy saturday, but we are drawing out up there. spencer has your accuweather forecast in a little bit.
