school teachers. the last day of school is under two weeks away on may 25. ryan curry is live in oakland with the latest on the negotiations. ryan: good morning. the union says they were at the bargaining table with the district but still no agreement has been reached between the two sides, that means you can expect another day of demonstration from teachers in front of various schools. the bargaining team says that there has been some movement on some issues but no agreement. progress has not been made on the common good proposal, which the district says would cost them more than $1 billion. those issues should not just involve the district but other agencies. the bargaining team says those numbers are not accurate. >> we are asking for a commitment to provide housing for students. we are asking for a perm -- freight commitment to provide

climate controlled classrooms. we know that they are bigger issues and we are trying to provide realistic solutions. >> the issues cannot be tackled through school district budgets alone. they demand multi agency and government supports. moreover, as good causes might be they should not hold children's learning hostage. ryan: as you could tell there is much that both sides have yet to agree on and a lot of work to be done. some parents are looking for alternatives. some went to the lawrence hall of science which is free for students impacted by the strike. the school district says they will hold a press conference to give us an update about how things are going on their end. on the meantime you can expect another day of picketing, demonstrations in front of oakland schools across the district.
