oakland education association declaring victory with regard to their common good goals, saying the tentative agreement includes assessment for un-housed students, shared governance in resources for black thriving committee schools. the district announcing ousd schools will be open today with students welcome on campus. morning, it is not clear how many staff will be in at any given site. we heard from the president of the teachers union a short time after the agreement was made. >> today, we reached an agreement to raise our compensation by 15%. including a historic collapse of our salary structure. we added teacher mental health services to our schools and students. >> [applause] reporter: considered a transition day for oea members to prepare for regular school to resume tomorrow. the district saying educators

50 plowed into the back of her car. killing her. police say the driver of that truck drove off. the original driver, the woman was trying to help was later arrested for driving under the influence. reggie: martina's amtrak station has reopened one week after a mercury spill led to its closure. capital corridor joint or -- powers authority says local hazmat teams finished their work cleaning up that station. health officials closed off a large portion of that station last monday after finding mercury spilled in the parking lot. traces of mercury were found elsewhere in downtown martinez last week. officials are trying to find the person who dumped that potentially hazardous substance. kumasi: the former chief executive of failed silicon valley bank order to testify before a senate committee this week. greg becker appearing tomorrow morning in front of the senate's committee. on banking, housing and urban affairs. he is expected to be asked about what went wrong at svb, one of

a dramatic rescue in texas yesterday in the aftermath of what was possibly a tornado. abc seven news crew in the area heard an animal crying, so they jumped into action and look what they found. look at this cute dog. a little shy, hesitant to come out all the way. they did learn it out with pets, chin scratches and a slim jim me to stick never hurts. --meet stick never hurts. new details, marin of 11 counties across the state getting a part of a 7.5 million dollars settlement from cbs. the company agreed to be selling expired medication and baby product. the county will receive $600,000 as part of the settlement. in a statement released, cvs says the pharmacy has a clear product removal policy in place to help ensure items are pulled from shelves before reaching the expiration dates.

any unintentional deviations from that policy are brought to our attention and quickly rectified. kumasi: an extra special mother's day for more than 40 unhoused moms and their families in san francisco. the nonprofit teamed up with laconia restaurant for the celebration and it included card making, photo taking and a good, buffet meal. moms were touched by this experience, especially as many of them black support. one shared her story of escaping domestic violence and landing on the streets with her daughter. >> i left my relationship and was fleeing. i had to leave without nobody knowing where or how. it means a lot to me and a lot of the moms. a lot of the moms do not have anyone to take us out to eat or a spouse. kumasi: the kids express their gratitude for just getting to spend time with their moms and acknowledging all the work they do for the family. reggie: heads up for this coming

ousd educators on the picket lines this morning. instead, they are prepping for the return to the classroom. this marks the end of that seven-day oakland teachers strike we have been talking about for so long. the president of the teachers union spoke short time ago saying in part, part of the agreement involves raising compensation by 15%. it includes what he is calling a historic collapse of the salary structure and says they have agreed to add librarians, more counselors and or mental health services to schools for students. the teachers union declaring victory with regard to their common good goals, saying the tentative agreement includes assessment for unhoused student, shared resources for black, thriving community schools. alerting families earlier this morning about the tentative agreement reached. >> we have been fighting for things beyond our economic gains. we have fought hard for this tentative agreement. it has been and it will be,

carroll. kumasi: driver of a semi truck that hit and killed a 36-year-old man in san jose. the crash happened saturday night in the northbound lanes of highway 101 near the off-road ramp. when officers got there, they found the man lying in the slow lane. a semi did not stop, it is a hit and run. it is not clear why the man was on the freeway. a tennessee company refusing to comply with the request to recall millions of airbag inflator's and it could lead to a legal battle with u.s. auto safety regulators. according to the national highway traffic safety administration, at least two people have been killed, seven hurt as a result of these defective automotive inflator's. the agency is demanding arc recall 67 million inflator's because it could explode. arc claims there are no defects

here, isn't it? reggie: it is really hard to be a seal. he is not going to stop fishing, but he is going to bring a partner with him next time. kumasi: several drivers had to be rescued when their cars stalled during flash flooding in st. louis. fire and rescue say they responded to at least 15 calls. looknearly half a million people were under some sort of flash flood warning yesterday between three to six inches fell in a few hours. reggie: in the east bay, some formally incarcerated women enjoyed mother's day with families things to a nonprofit. staff held a mother's day brunch to treat many moms and their families to a meal. the foundation works to identify moms who are low-level offenders in need of bail support at santa rita jail. the foundation says nearly two thirds of women in jail are women of color, some cannot afford bail facing charges for low-level crimes. >> they helped me by bailing me

out, for one. i would not be enjoying this mother's day if they did not help me. reggie: she found little support after her prison release. not only is her foundation raising bail for moms, it is preparing them to reenter society by giving them legal and job assistance. president biden expected to meet with congressional leaders on the debt ceiling limit tomorrow. that comes after the white house and congressional staff had productive talks over the weekend. the president says he is hopeful an agreement can be reached with republicans. there is not a clear path forward to avoid a default before that june 1 deadline. we are kumasi: stores closing inside malls could see a big turn into indoor pickle ball courts with stores like bed, bath & beyond, old navy and sax office. malls across the country are looking to fill that vacant space.

on this monday morning, it is a slog between the inner area of stockton up and over the dublin gray into the -- into dublin from tracy, about an hour and 10 minutes. not too fun. highway four is slowing from antioch into concord. take a look back at our problem spot this money, and overturned big graton south on the transition from 880 that has cleared the last 15 minutes or so. traffic is moving lightly through the area. it took about three hours to get it out. slow and go as you approach the richmond san rafael bridge. no stalls or accidents on the span, but slow approaching the toll plaza which is fairly normal and about an eight to 10 minute ride into marin county. reggie: a woman in san francisco once her cats to live their best nine lives. this includes what she feeds them. kelly tran shared this video. she created a charcuterie board
