this stabbing death of 864-year-old woman in low income housing is raising questions about safety of residents especially at risk to seniors. we have the story tonight. >> never spoken to jesus because of the language barrier. he is accused of her killing. along with our media partner, sf standard, we went in search of the question, how was this able to happen? >> she up and minds is the great contributions that -- she epitomizes the great contributions that immigrants make to our city. >> she was stabbed her low income housing unit. she was the president of the local janitorial unit, and he is upset about how ms. who was killed. >> more safety protocols

could've happened so that she could be here with us right now. >> her next-door neighbor was arrested and charged with her murder. even though esparza was not a senior, he qualified for low income housing due to his disability related to mental health and lived at the property since 2017. his lawyer talked about his mental health, saying more investigation was needed to determine his fitness for trial. he further stated, his family worried about him because they don't know what's going on why here's where he is, and what happened. >> they are asking for answers on why this happened in the first place. >> may be something could've been done to prevent it, we are concerned about the safety of the city and everyone living around here. >> they would not confirm if complaints were filed against him because of privacy. but the neighbors say there have
