the very latest. linsey. good morning, rianna. good morning to you. only ten days remain until the us treasury expects to run out of money. but president biden is sounding upbeat about a last minute deal over night, president biden returned to washington after cutting his trip to asia short as the white house and house republicans urgently try to negotiate a deal to raise the nation's debt ceiling, the president expressed a positive view of his phone call on air force one yesterday with house speaker kevin mccarthy. biden and mccarthy will meet face to face today after treasury secretary janet yellen insisted the government could run out of cash to pay its bills on june first. i would say we're focused on raising the debt ceiling and there will be hard choices if that doesn't occur without a deal to prevent a default. borrowing costs could soar. global markets could tumble, and millions of americans may not get payments such as medicare and social security. at issue, how to rein

in government spending. republicans want to roll back spending to last year's levels and limit the growth in federal spending to 1% per year for a decade. meanwhile, the white house has proposed a 9.4% increase for next year's budget , followed by increases of 1% over a decade. i do not think it's extreme that we simply say we should spend less than we spent this year. we should pull back the unspent money from covid. another sticking point a proposal by republicans to tighten work requirements for people on medicaid. the biden administration claims millions of people could lose coverage as a result. it's time for republicans to accept that there is no bipartisan deal to be made solely and solely on their partizan terms. they have to move as well. we can solve this problem and make our economy stronger curve inflation, and be less dependent on china and really focus on american problems with american solutions. if there is no deal

old brian coburger, the man suspected of killing four university of idaho students last november, is set to be arraigned after a grand jury last week indicted him on charges related to the murders of ethan chapin. kaylee gonsalves, xana kernodle and madison morgan coburger is expected to plead not guilty to four charges of first degree murder and one count of burglary. right now, although we seem to have mounting evidence against mr. cole burger, it's still anyone's game because there's a lot of information that the defense is going to hold and not release to the public. authorities say coburger orchestrated and carried out the attack, then returned to work pursuing his phd inriminology before making a cross-country trip home to pennsylvania with his father. coburger was pulled over twice along the way. okay after a month long investigation , coburger was arrested. investigate saying they matched his dna to that found on a leather knife sheath found at the crime scene. we have a search warrant for the building authorities searched his apartment in pullman, washington
