chp got the call at 12:30 morning. officers continuing their investigation into exactly what happened we are told at least three people were hit and killed. >> the initial call was for a vehicle that struck the center wall. after the initial crash, multiple vehicles involved with each other. time for opening the freeway is undetermined. closed to drivers. the victims are being referred to as pedestrians but it is unsure if they were standing outside of their cars during the early morning crash. the sun is coming up and offering some daylight on the destruction and the damage is significant. at least three people were hit and killed and six vehicles were involved. reporting live along 101 northbound, amanda del castillo io. -- amanda del castillo. reggie: you can download the app

over doing county fairs and said multiple fights broke out, something she said is rare. >> never saw anything like that. ryan: one of the fights broke out causing rights to close which led to the entire fair closing early. >> tore up that game over there and they tore up the ride over there. they stole a bunch of stuff and i got some of it back. ryan: the county fair implemented new safety measures posted a message saying we want to ensure the fear remains a safe and fun environment for all families and friends together and make memories. for the last day of the fair, we are in limiting a policy meaning any minor has to be companied by a parent or guardian here reach out to the fear directors and the sheriff's office for further comments and are waiting to hear back. >> very disappointed and to have

blocked erie six cars involved and maybe seven. six tow trucks have been dispatched to the northbound side and one tow truck to the southbound side. that tells us seven cars to be removed. this is a triple fatal crash that happened at 12:30 last night. if you are traveling north on 101, take 880 over to great america parkway. 101, you are being diverted off at fair oaks. you will find slowing approaching 101 on westbound 237. reggie: let castillo you who is on the highway where this crash happened.

and: northbound. officers have been here at six hours with plenty of work ahead after this early-morning crash. we saw two tow trucks just arrive at so maybe some action happening in just a few minutes. we finally have some daylight on the destruction. on northbound 101 between lawrence and fair oaks, six vehicles with significant damage in the northbound lanes and two cars with damage on the southbound side. chp got the call at 12:30 this morning. the initial crash call came in as a vehicle that struck the divider. other vehicles ended up crashing taking out part of the median. we are told at least three people were hit and killed. >> upon arrival, chp officers determined there were multiple vehicles involved in this crash. there were three pedestrians that were struck and

subsequently succumbed to their injuries. northbound and southbound traffic has been stopped and diverted off of the freeway. amanda: chp is referring to the victims as pedestrians though it is unclear whether they were involved somehow, perhaps standing outside of their cars at the time of the crash. the traffic break pushing drivers off the lawrence expressway. from the south side, pushing off at fair oaks. both the northbound and southbound lanes have been impacted. if you're headed out here this morning and you rely on the 101 through sunnyvale to get you to your destination, you will want to avoid it. the tow trucks just getting to the scene but it will be sometime before any work is done and before any of these cars are cleared from either direction. reporting live in sunnyvale,

attempted murder and conspiracy charges defendants face. he says black people were 40% more likely to be charged with special enhancements compared to others. >> that is the significant charged somebody with a special circumstance you are asking the court to impose a mandatory sentence with life without any possibility of parole ever. >> this is a landmark ruling and the first of its kind statewide and the second ruling under the regional justice act involving the contra costa district attorney's office. attorney saint it is one of significance for offsetting systemic racial disparities within the criminal justice system. the ruling provides direction and my office will review similarly charged cases to promote fair and equitable prosecution.
