the incident unfolded late last month at a san francisco walgreens. to balance video shows the security guard working at the store, confronting brown, suspected by police of shop lifting. the two get into a scuffle. a short time later, the guard can be seen shooting and killing brown. yesterday, a spokesperson confirmed, our office has agreed to review whether the d.a.'s decision not to file charges was an abuse of discretion. >> i do not want to say anything. i just want to see what happens. >> he just needs to be put behind bars. just like banko's life was taken, his life needs to be taken, behind bars. >> grounds of families lawyer reminds that this does not mean that they will prosecute, but that could be the case if they find that the decision was contrary to evidence.

the jenkins told us we welcome the attorney general's review and will assist and cooperate as needed. involvement by the ag's office was a demand but forth by some of these protesters during the rallies we have seen recently and those demonstrations we reported on as well. reggie: thank you. today, the suspect in stabbing death of bob lee will be in court. he pleaded not guilty last week. his attorney says the stabbing was a combination of self-defense and an accident. prosecutors claim the confrontation between the two men happened -- he is currently in custody without bail. a special meeting of the san francisco board of supervisors yesterday featuring q&a with london breed was meant to put new focus on solving the drug crisis but it quickly turned chaotic at u.n. plaza.

last five years. we now know san jose international airport is benefiting from a 100 million dollars funded from the faa, receiving nearly $11 million to build a taxiway with more direct access to airport hangers. the funds are going to bend 12 airports across the country to reconfigure certain taxiway and way intersections to help prevent incursions. memorial day weekend is the unofficial start of summer travel. transportation secretary pete buttigieg says we should all expect delays and airports nationwide again this summer. he says a shortage of air traffic controllers is a big reason why. right now, there are about 3000 fewer air traffic controllers than there should be. >> it is a concern and part of what motivates us to put so much emphasis on recruiting, hiring, training. we need to make sure that we have the workforce that is ready to have or on a question.

reggie: the faa is currently on a hiring blitz, targeting 1500 entry-level air traffic this year. secretary buttigieg insists that despite the shortage, the faa will not sacrifice safety to make sure planes take off on time. california experiencing a shortage of veterinarians making it hard to get pets checked out. groups are suggesting potential legislation to address the shortage. some of those up for debate include grants for shelters and getting vet services through telehealth. some say education has played a key role in the shortage. >> we have not had enough new vet schools accredited over the last several years. we are looking at a shortage nationally of about three 500 to 5000 that are in arians. reggie: that's say appointment -- vet say booking an appointment will become more difficult if no action is taken.

the company expanding to new york city. reggie: cap azaleas are on the road to attorney sam pedroza street for a public walkway. gloria rodriguez is in the newsroom with that. >> san pedro street was closed to cars to a lot more people to dine outdoors during the pandemic that closure was extended in 2022. now it appears it will be permitted. yesterday, the city council unanimously voted to move forward with plans to make it a permanent pedestrian only walkway. san pedro street in downtown san jose is vibrant with people enjoying food and cocktails outside. now san jose has plans to create a pedestrian mall here. the plan requires businesses to move all outdoor seating from the street poser to decide what next to their building. it also calls for a 20 foot walkway down the middle of the road. business owners support the plan. >> is great.
