a councilmember and numbers of the oakland police department held a walkabout today going into neighborhoods that have seen an increase in violent crime. yesterday nine preteens and teenagers were arrested in connection with at least 35 robberies. they are accused of robberies that happened in oakland, piedmont and el cerrito this year. >> we are going to redeploy our walking officers and over time officers on college avenue, telegraph and piedmont avenue to be a visual deterrent. >> the district attorney's office has not released any updates on the nine kids as it still is an ongoing investigation. remember all of this public safety data is at your fingertips with our interactive abc 7 safety tractor -- tracker. you can see over the past years the number of robberies have been consistent and slightly down last year from the year before. you can check out what it looks like where you live on the front page of abc7news.com. >> it now to your voice and

drizzle. i will talk about some changes when we come back regarding your holiday weekend. >> as you have heard the world lost a music icon today. the one and only tina turner. >> the queen of rock and roll has died at the age of 83. her career in music scored -- spanned more than 50 years. she rose to prominence in the early 60's with her husband, the abuse ike turner. turner changed her name and they performed as the ike and tina turner review. a good friend of mine deaf trager was the music promoter that broke one of their earliest hit signals -- singles on radio. a song called i have been loving you too long. i spoke with him today from his home in vallejo. what are your thoughts today on her passing? >> of all the artists i have worked with tina was probably the one artist that i was most impressed with. not just because of her talent, because she raised four kids in the middle of her career.

they also report a group known as the spanish-speaking unity council purchased the lot and is considering building housing but no official decision has been made. >> pride month is a week away and target is pulling some of its pride merchandise off the shelves because what it says are volatile circumstances. target says a handful of people were upset with the pride merchandise being displayed in its stores, the chain says some customers have confronted workers and tiptoe over displays. the spokesperson for the lgbt center in los angeles says while they are concerned about the target worker safety they are also hoping that the retailer will better explain its decision to move and remove its pride items. >> when it comes to safety we can never be too cautious and i think front-line workers is really important to us. >> target says it has removed the items generating the most reaction in some target locations in the south the merchandise was moved to the back of the store.

the table. and because of this i rarely saw him. that is why it meant so much that i won. >> while her recent f1 academy when it was big she will never forget winning the macau international cart grand prix at the age of eight. >> i went for a move in the third to last quarter and took the checkered flag. that was my very first international win in macau. i think after winning that, racing the philippine flag on the podium and being the only girl, it was like pivotal point in my career. >> she says she has always looked up to former nascar in indy car racer danica patrick. she is not shy when it comes to talking about racing in a field dominated by men. >> yes i can drive a car at the speed that the next day i can be doing my makeup routine or doing

an outfit check or just doing normal things that a young girl would be doing. at first it can be so daunting, pursuing a path that not many people would normally take. i have his if it was easy everyone would do it and sometimes being real is the best you can be and that is what i voice wanted to show to little girls. >> one thing not mentioned in that story is when i spoke to her her she had just finished a full training session. she is in the midst of a circuit and then we proceeded to talk 35 minutes. she has a passion you do not always see and it was obvious at the moment she said that her everest would be to either compete on the main f1 series, nascar, or indycar. they have no female drivers in those series and all three, fingers crossed she is only 18. >> she could do it. >> a very uplifting person. >> it is a shame she is not more charming. >> let's get a check on our weather. >> speaking of charming here's our meteorologist. >> thank you dan, not as charming as bianca but i do want to show you our pattern which is low clouds, fog with us tonight. here in san francisco the marine layer has been about 2000 feet deep since yesterday. that has kept us in a cooler than average pattern. today two to seven degrees below average, we are only in the low 60's to the low 70's. here is where we are going tomorrow. it santa rosa 70, san francisco three degrees below where you should be, oakland down five from where you should be to 69. it tomorrow san jose coming at 73 which is a couple degrees shy of where you should be for may. what is causing all this, an area of low pressure that has carved out a nice trough right over the west coast. the benefit to this pattern is it is delaying our fire season which we will take.
