school student hijacked computers of several teachers to show racist and inappropriate footage. >> parents tell us becoming a pattern, highlighting frequent bullying at the school. >> i would've never thought let me hack the teachers computer. it is things you hear about in the movies or something. you don't think it will happen in real life. >> but that did happen at this middle school in brentwood. this parent wished to remain anonymous out of a fear for retaliation. >> it surprises me a got that far. where they are insulting and disrespecting the teacher. >> according to the school district, a student allegedly hijacked a projector and three teachers classrooms to display racist images earlier this week. parents told us some ofheents wm grobe laws -- crow laws.

the district says teachers acted immediately and were able to stop the projections from continuing. the principal immediately contacted the i.t. department to prevent this from happening again. parents told us that students have reported this and handful of other times. including one case where a student was able to stream porn in class. >> it is mind blowing. i don't know what to say. it is not professional. it is scary. i am worried for my children. >> she lives across the street from the school. her sister as a teacher there. >> there is still some sort of racism going on. kids are calling each other bad words. nobody has the right to use that word. that is scary. it is unnecessary. >> the school superintendent told us that the district is a

place where everyone belongs. they want all to feel welcome. they are continuing the investigation and expect to conclude it soon. they will not tolerate this behavior. the tall -- consequences will be severe. how could've this happened? sources inside the school say students are able to stream content on their iphone. >> what is that? it is a way for you to broadcast whatever content you have on your phone. or your laptop. or your computer. you have to be connected to the same wi-fi. >> tech expert in engineering professor at san jose university. >> what to the schools of donda presented this -- prevented this? >> have some restrictions on who can join the wi-fi. if someone tries to start joining and broadcast, they have have a separate pen number. >> it sounds like it is a pretty easy fix.

chiefs of staff is sounding the alarm about the risk of not reaching a deal to raise debt ceiling for america. there is breaking news that they may be getting close. >> i think there is no doubt whatsoever there would be a very significant impact on the u.s. military if we defaulted and did not reach a debt ceiling agreement. >> he also told reporters that a default would have unambiguous implications on national security. negotiators spoke again today. no deal but they may be getting closer. the treasury department may not have enough funds to fully satisfy all of the nation's obligations as soon as june 1. so the clock is ticking. >> joining us now is our political analyst. let's start with some of the take -- sticking points for

republicans. >> they want to be able to say to their base that we have made big cuts in the budget. billion away from the irs. and make it available nondiscretionary services. that will placate the democrats. it is a little bit of a juggling game. you have to make your case that we got some cuts. and the democrats need to be saying they protect people. the medicaid cuts are really the ones that are most serious. some 15 million single individuals could lose their insurance. so you show up at the emergency room. >> every side needs to claim

victory in this. which is difficult. the president has made it clear that the republicans want more cuts. he does not want the middle-class hurt. what are some of the sticking points from the democratic side? >> they basically are taking the position that we passed and lifted the debt limit three times under president trump. we never played any games. we have lifted the debt limit 80 times in our country's history since the 1920's. it is a function that we have to do because we have to pay our bills. republicans always like to use it as leverage. they are using it now against the president. there is always some kind of kabuki dance that his dad and then everyone claims victory and we move on. we have to make sure we do this. >> the president says defaulting is not an option.

if it does happen, what can we expect? >> first of all you most senior social security and medicare recipients who are supposed to get their checks at the beginning of the month. face -- they have the least outside income. they will be hurt the most and first if we were to default. but it also has global implications that are unknown to choke any of us. >> scary. >> it would be horrific. what may happen is they lift the debt ceiling modestly to give them more time to develop the deal so we get past that june 1 deadline. >> the debt is so enormous and we keep raising it. at some point do we run into a literal ceiling where we cannot

absorb any more debt? >> it is important to point out that it is $31 trillion. that is the result of two wars that were not paid for. three recessions. three tax cuts. and covid. that is where the money went. >> can we get it paid down in a reasonable time? >> yes. bill clinton did that. george w. bush, obama, and biden have all contributed to that debt. >> thank you for giv perspective tonight. >> just ahead, the new characters that bart is people will get back on the train for. >> a new firefighting tool goes online in the east bay hills. it could make a big difference in saving lives and homes.
