ticking after a bipartisan deal to raise the u.s. debt ceiling was announced over the weekend. lawmakers have one week to lock the deal in. president biden and house speaker mccarthy came to a agreement saturday. the legislation will suspend the debt limit until 2025. it will allow the government to freeze the debt they already owe. the agreement will move to congress were members of both parties will vote. if they don't pass the bill, they could miss the june 5 deadline and force the government into strophic default. it increases work requirements for food income programs, something biden and mccarthy had opposing views on. >> that is divided government. that's where we end up. i think it is a positive bill. >> congress is expected to vote wednesday. >> the night a memorial day ceremony at the lafayette hillside memorial honoring those
