senate doesn't waste time approving it. all right. abc's justin finch joins us now from washington. and justin, a potential hurdle here, not everyone is thrilled with steel. andrew good morning. and that is right. the often divided house, though, delivering more than enough votes to launch that debt ceiling deal into the senate, where some members are already slamming the bill on the house floor. a major win for the debt limit deal. yays are 314. the nays are 117. the bill is passed. a true bipartisan effort with 165 democrat cats and 149 republican voting yes, delivering almost 100 more votes than needed to pass the deal struck between the president and the house speaker. in a statement, president biden said loots the house vote, calling the budget agreement a bipartisan compromise and saying it protects critical programs that millions of hardworking families, students and veterans count on. house speaker kevin

schumer took the procedural step of adding the debt limit bill to the senate calendar. that chamber now has four days to pass it before the treasury secretary warns the us could run out of money to cover its bills. rhiannon. all right, justin, thank you. now to the explosive new reporting on former president trump regarding his handling of classified documents . it's a new audio recording. could be a crucial piece of evidence for federal investigators. this morning, abc news confirming federal prosecutors are in possession of an audio recording from nearly two years ago where former president trump appears to acknowledge having classified documents. abc news has not obtained the recording, but sources say trump references a document which he claimed was about a potential attack on iran while indicating he was aware of the legal concerns surrounding the possession of the secret document. the audio was recorded in the summer of 2021, more than a year before fbi agents searched trump's mar a lago resort, seizing more than 100 classified documents after trump's team failed to comply with a subpoena. the recording

courage to lead. and we must have the strength to win. meanwhile, the republican field to take on trump is getting more crowded. former vice president mike pence and former new jersey governor chris christie are both expected to announce their candidacies next week. reacting to that audio recording, trump's lawyers call it part of what they called a political persecution. ukraine says a russian attack killed three people in kiev overnight, including two children. the attack was the deadliest on the city in the past month and it comes as the us announced another $300 million in military aid to ukraine, raising the toll since the start of the war to more than $38 million. the raging wildfires in nova scotia, canada, have burned more than 77mi■!s, and officials expect te fires to get worse before crews get the upper hand. more than 200 structures have been lost, the majority of them homes. smoke from those fires created this hazy scene in philadelphia yesterday. conditions are expected to improve today, but those with heart and lung issues may still want to take precautions. in davenport, iowa, drones are helping search the

pride month begins, some businesses that have traditionally embraced the month to showcase inclusivity may be retooling their strategy. if you are a retailer and you're trying to align yourself with your customer base politically or socially or in a social justice way, you also have to understand what is the flip side of that. just last week, target pulling some of its pride merchandise from its stores after reporting some employees experienced threats from customers. target's decision inciting outrage from the lgbtq community and allies, including a designer whose products were pulled. it's completely fine to profit off of us to stick with the rainbow capitalism and to focus on the pink dollar. but the second it gets hard, if you're going to jump ship, that's a very dangerous thing to tell people. all in recent weeks, kohl's bud light and the los angeles dodgers have experienced backlash for lgbtq related marketing promotions. and this

sacrificed privacy for profits and that it unlawfully stored voice recordings. geology information and video for years. i'm disappointed that and i feel like amazon has broken their word and their promise to parents and consumers. according to the complaint, amazon promises customers it will delete users data upon request, but until september 2019, amazon is accused of keeping children's alexa voice recordings indefinitely unless a parent actively deleted them. and even when amazon did erase it, the company often kept the transcripts via dating the children's online privacy protection act. their goal is to sell more products and services to consumers, and so all of this , uh, data and vast amounts of data is ultimately being leveraged for that purpose with ring. the ftc claims the company lacked basic security protections, allowing employees access to customers videos and

allowing hackers to gain access to more than 55,000 accounts. what's up, homie? i still see you. amazon claims they never violated the law, saying our devices and services are built to protect customers privacy and to provide customers with control over their experience. tech experts say this ruling sends a message to all tech companies. if you're a technology company and you're telling consumers that you're going to hold their data private, that that's the expectation that you'll you'll you'll be doing exactly that, that you'll keep your word under a federal court order, which a judge must approve. amazon has agreed to delete inactive child accounts with saved voice and geolocation data and they must delete ring data prior to acquiring the company back in 2018. ryan an andrew. andrea, thank you. federal safety officials hope new standards can stop a rise in traffic deaths. a new proposal calls for all new cars and trucks to be equipped
