there is more work to be done. talk about a close call. video from global news shows the dangerous encounter at sea involving the chinese worship and a u.s. destroyer. abc seven news now. for joining us, you are watching abc seven news at 11. right away chase in fiery crash in danville has reportedly left a high school student hospitalized. in critical condition tonight. police say it started with an attempted traffic stop and ended when the car collided with a tesla. flipped and then caught fire. abc 7 news reporter is on this developing story and has learned who was in the car police were pursuing. >> first responders in worked quickly to pull five people out of this burning car early saturday morning. >> we pulled up to the right and saw a big fire outside of

starbucks and four police cars and were wondering what's going on. we parked the car and got out and ran over and we were pulling somebody out of the car and breaking glass. >> dan rogers who did not want to show his face was driving by when he saw the car on fire. >> you could feel the warmth of the fire across the street it was huge. >> in an email to abc 7 news the contra costa sheriffs office says just after 1 a.m. danville police tried to pull over a driver for running a red light, the driver did not stop so a police chase began for almost 5 miles. the driver allegedly ran another red light at this intersection near blackhawk, this time hitting a tesla. no one in the tesla was injured the speeding car rolled and caught fire. >> a lot of my buddies graduated, we are hoping everyone is ok. >> the intersection reopened saturday morning at starbucks remained closed due to damage.

>> there was a senior and one junior. >> the information we have is the junior is in critical condition. >> yes and she is saying that person more than likely might not make it. >> this mom who did not want to be identified says her daughter knew all of the people in the car. the mom says the seniors who were all female just graduated friday night for monta high school. she understands that police have to enforce the rules but are still concerned about a police chase that went almost 5 miles through a winding suburban road. >> for me i think the cops just have to do what they need to do to stop it but at that time though, what about the other cars. i don't know, it is not safe. >> the mom says the seniors were treated and released, police did not save drugs and alcohol were involved in the crash. in danville abc 7 news. >> an elderly man hiking on a remote road in the north bay has

died, investigators are calling his death suspicious. the marin county sheriff's office is the 83-year-old man was found friday evening near wild iris road with a head injury. a friend says he saw the man hiking, and a short time later found him on the ground with the injury. the man was taken to the hospital where he later died. >> we have had multiple reports over the last several weeks of subject seen with a firearm, they were never located but we are going through our investigation and follow up on those leads for anybody that we are able to contact or leads we can follow as it relates to vehicle scene. >> right now investigators do not have a suspect with say they have received multiple calls of a person with a gun in the area, officers say right now they cannot confirm if those reports are true and if the man's death are connected. in the south bay a memorial outside the home of a cent couple who were run over during a violent crime spree.

intelligence. >> supervisor dorsey, we are in your backyard very much. have you noticed the difference? >> i would say not really. we are in a situation right now where we are seeing a level of addiction and drug use and drug dealing that is kind of unprecedented. it collects the city's seem to drug overdose deaths a day. on pace for the deadliest year yet amid the drug overdose crisis. and supervisor dorsey says it is going to take time and resources before seeing an impact. right now he says just six chp officers are on the streets but believe more support is on the way. >> i did talk to the chief of police today. he feels that it is helpful to have chp lending some support a uniformed presence because that gives san francisco's police department at a time when it is significantly understaffed the ability to deploy those

>> tennessee's loss -- placing limits on drag shows as unconstitutional according to a judge's ruling which states the laws unconstitutionally vague and encouraged discriminatory enforcement. tennessee became the first state to ban public drag shows earlier this year. republican lawmakers in the state say it was necessary to restrict such performances from taking place in public or were children could view them. it is pride month and celebrations are already getting underway in many communities in the bay area. events are held all month long from flag raisings to movie night and of course parades. in the north bay today we saw our first big celebrations of pride month. there was a showing of unity in the wake of hundreds of laws

abc 7 morning crew. it is officially street festival season in the bay area and it started on a strong note. filling up streets with music, food and fun this weekend. several streets are closed in the area, most between filbert and green. organizers say the event features nonstop music until seven and for most of the day tomorrow. not far away in north beach a street fair is this weekend on stockton street. then in the east bay from bik to building prosperity, the east oakland futures festival showcases the food, art, technology and culture of the community. hundreds of residents at the streets today for the annual block party along with dozens of vendors and community groups offering services on-site. >> we have different zones representing here, from food to youth education to mobility and

overnight conditions. then tomorrow summerlike warmth in our inland areas especially up to about 90 degrees in antioch and fairfield. upper 80's and many other inland locations in the north bay, south bay mainly mid 80's. even around the shoreline it will be summerlike with highs near 80 degrees. we will see low 60's on the coast. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. after 90 degree inland whether tomorrow we will have a sharp drop in temperatures on monday as some clouds move in from that low pressure system i showed you earlier that will be sliding down along the coastline. we will get some clouds from that system, breathing conditions and much cooler with high temperatures reaching only up to about 80 degrees in the warmest spots. a 10 degrees drop in temperatures from tomorrow into monday. around the bay shoreline locations will be 78 to 80 degrees tomorrow and will be only 70 to 72 on monday. not much of a drop on the coast however. on tuesday we might actually see some raindrops because it will

the u.s. official confirming to abc news that cia director william burns traveled to beijing in may meeting with his counterparts marking the highest level visit since that spy balloon was shot down in february. collects the nfl who suffered a frightening injury that literally stopped his heart on the field is now raising awareness about cpr. damar hamlin took part in an event today near buffalo where automated external defibrillator's were distributed. one was used along with cpr to save his life back in january. he suffered cardiac arrest during a game on national tv. since that incident hamlin has been cleared to resume his football career but he also spends time calling attention to cpr training. with just two days until 5 deadline president biden has signed legislation to avoid a u.s. debt ceiling default.

>> on tuesday this week bob myers announced he is stepping down as the warriors gm in just a few hours after that news broke i caught up with hall of famer and warriors legend chris muller to get his take on how the dubs off season is shaping up. >> no one knows better than the individual, i am very bob is taking that time that he deserves and needs. he's got a young family, this is a high-pressure job. has earned the right to dictate his next part of his life. and then of course warrior fan players, coaches everyone in the bay area is so grateful for the great work he has done so we all wish him nothing but the best. >> there is a lot coming up for the warriors this off-season, we knew all these things and bob was the biggest domino.

now you have what dray is going to do, clay wants a contract, staff has this window of three more years at least. what is the follow-up for the warriors in the big three, what do you foresee happening now with the warriors? wax with steph curry, dray and draymond, they are still playing a high level. that's obvious. all three had tremendous seasons. individually and collectively. with dream on's extension, i think if they sit down with whoever's going to be running the franchise and get input from all of them and then make what they feel is the proper decisions. i think it all starts with steph curry, what he wants around him and i think it's pretty obvious to with those three, all 10 years in the league or more. they need young athletic in the proper skill around them. i think they've got tremendous young talent on the roster, i don't think it is a total overhaul. those guys are getting better

with more experience and more minutes on the floor i think they will continue to do that. the guys are so moody and some nice young players are on guys, with the draft coming up and free agency looming will see what happens but like you said it all depends on those big three. do they decide to keep them together which i think they made a great case for that. the warriors have done a great job and created a dynasty and with the way they played this year i think they've got a window to continue that. we will see. >> thank you for your and the denver nuggets have a 10 series against the miami heat. game to write here tomorrow night at abc 7 at five preceded by abc7news and more followed by after the game. even though denver made it look easy san jose native aaron gordon it does not expect that in game two. >> we can't sleep on this team this team has not quit. they will continue to fight
