we look at how long this cool pattern lasts. let's check in with jobina: jobina: we have a crash in haworth causing a major slowdown. this will be southbound -- i'm sorry. we will start with video. a crash that cleared earlier this morning. maybe 30 minutes ago as you travel westbound on 92 before you get to foster city, hopping off the san mateo bridge. there was an amazon truck that overturned and clogged up the westbound side of the san mateo bridge. it has been cleared but this is new video of the situation. moving over to the graphics, a new crash on southbound 880 before a street. we also have a new crash reported in san lorenzo way that it will bring you in a few moments after the next new stories. the meter lights came on at 5:33. reggie: hundreds of passengers

remain stranded in russia after the flight to sfo had to make an emergency landing. help is on the way. air india tweeted an airplane leaving overnight and is scheduled to pick up passengers and continue to san francisco. amanda is tracking the story from sfo. some of those passengers -- families are worried about them. amanda: i just connected with one of the people who have two parents on board the flight. they say they're in their 80's traveling business class. at this point that does not matter because they are off the plane. the plane had engine trouble is what we are told. the person who has his parents on the flight says he is uncertain about the conditions they are experiencing. this is a remote part of the country. all of this is factoring into some of their fears as it all develops.

there was some promising news from air india this morning. around 3:00 our time they tweeted out a ferry flight was airborne to deliver some essential goods and food to those passengers who will then be making their way eventually here to sfo. the carrier says the aircraft will then bring everyone to san francisco. the flight was caring 216 passengers and 16 crew members when it was diverted. we know the plane was reported these. seeing engine problems -- the plane was reportedly suffering engine problems. russia has banned numerous countries from operating its airspace. carriers like air india continue to fly over russia. india has remained a neutral stance throughout the war. another concern is the remoteness of where they are stranded. they are in the country's far east. a political scientist from uc

berkeley says -- political science professor at uc berkeley says russia will probably not want to disrupt is relatively good relations with india over this incident, hoping that might ensure a safe return. >> at the same time we are dealing with putin, who has not been known recently for taking any kind of sane policy. >> the state department warns it is not safe for americans to go to russia. i would be concerned if i was on that plane. amanda: a state department deputy spokesperson could not confirm how many u.s. citizens were on the flight. they said it was "likely there are american citizens on board." all of them will hopefully be landing here at sfo tomorrow. in the next half-hour we will hear from a passenger describing what conditions are like and what they have experienced so far after being diverted to russia. reporting live,

kumasi: florida governor ron desantis is confirming his state sent dozens of migrants to sacramento. this video shows migrants making the trip. they are seen appearing to enjoy a ride in a limo and then boarding a private jet. the sacramento faith-based group helping those people say they were misled. a bus driver dropped them off and then promised to come back but never did. >> definitely folks feel scared. halfway through their travel they realized they were not going to a job site. instead they would go somewhere far away. kumasi: governor newsom is pointing the finger at desantis and suggested criminal charges, including kidnapping. asylum-seekers are juggling court and searching for jobs.

reggie: san francisco police are cracking down a public intoxication and drug use in the city. the mayor london breed spoke about the coverage of that controversial campaign. >> we took 25 people into custody. nine have warrants. only one lived in san francisco. out of the 25 people arrested, and even the ones who were released, the ones who did not have warrants, none accepted the services we were offering. there comes a time where if people are not accepting services we cannot just allow what we see on our streets to continue. reggie: according to the chronicle, the same person has been arrested three times, the da can charge them in court. kumasi: the men accused of killing three people and injuring nine others across two cities could be in court tomorrow. the judge has ordered kevin

parker ronna to hear his charges formally but he can decline to attend. that is what he did yesterday when he was set to attend for the first time. multiple charges have been officially filed against him. the santa clara county coroner's office confirmed san jose resident fuk and lynn fong died after a violent afternoon in san jose and milpitas last thursday. one of the injured victims was at the courthouse yesterday. he was hit from behind while on a motorcycle. >> i was so lucky i was not one of the people that got killed. that is what i'm thankful for. >> given the charges i have filed against the defendant, which includes special circumstances, he will spend the rest of his life in prison and die there. kumasi: san jose police say has several felony and misdemeanor convictions on his

record and was on active probation at the time of the alleged attacks. reggie: pay mass shooting after a haskell graduation in virginia left two people dead and five others hurt. a family member tells abc news the two people killed were father and son. they were there to sean's graduation. sean's younger sister was hit by a fleeing car and is now recovering. >> i'm tired of seeing people get shot, our kids get shot. i beg of the entire stop. >> a child should begi to adjoin the compass met with their friends and families. there is nothing sacred any longer. reggie: this happened at virginia commonwealth university's campus. it was a high school graduating in richmond.

investigating a crash that killed a young person. it happened before 1:00 this morning. police say the crash involved a juvenile pedestrian. they did not release any more information. it's unclear how the person died or what they were doing when that happened -- when this happened. this is the 20th person to diana crash this year. last year, san jose saw 60 five total roadway deaths. kumasi: they plane full of people are stranded in russia. the air india flight was forced to land yesterday. families are worried given the current hostile relations between the u.s. and russia. amanda del castillo is live it sfl with what we are hearing from one of the stranded passengers. amanda: glimpse at what conditions are looking like on the ground for passengers on that air india flight.

the carrier released the latest information around 3:00 our time. a flight was carrying essentials and food to the passengers who were stranded in a remote part of the country. they are all expected to board that same fairy flight and head over here to sfo. they will not be landing until tomorrow at some time. the original plane was a boeing 777. it was reportedly experiencing engine problems and was diverted to russia's magadan airport in the far east. you can imagine the concerns with the ongoing war in ukraine. russia has banned numerous western countries from operating in its airspace. some carriers like air india continue to fly over russia. india has maintained a neutral stance throughout the work. another concern is the remoteness of where they are stranded. air india says it will operate and alter it -- alternate

being familiar with russian cuisine saying most people who were on that flight are vegetarian. food was an issue. that is why the ferry flight is delivering food to passengers who are now stranded. that flight will then take them here -- the aircraft will take them here to sfo, landing tomorrow. amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. reggie: a major victory for the owners of the castro theater. supervisors decided last night not to stand in the way of renovations. is the drama about changing the theater seats over? now. gloria rodriguez is in the newsroom with that. gloria: the drama is not over. the board of supervisors just voted to put a landmark designation on the interior part of the castro theater, but not the orchestra seats. that is what the management group was hoping for. many in the community are disappointed with this decision.

the seeds have been a source of controversy. last year, hundreds turned out in a town hall meeting at the theater to try to save the seeds. this move could pave the way for the management group to tear out the seats and replace them. the group wants to use a tier system that allows for removable seats so both standing and seated events could then be held. that is something management says is key going forward. san francisco supervisor represented the castro and agrees with them. >> what is clear is that it has gone for decades without important investments in the physical infrastructure of the facility. it needs millions of dollars of investment to bring -- to restore the building. another planet has a plan to that work. >> i think it was a missed opportunity here. it's about keeping it formatted as a theater because that is what its function is. glaria: because so many are passionate about this, the

supervisor says he would not be surprised if this ends up in court. this is not a done deal. the historic preservation commission is set to meet with the planning commission about this topic. that will happen tomorrow. reggie: and so it goes. a small business owner is questioning his store's future in the city of oakland. sunday morning. the thieves took around $60,000 in inventory. he just moved his shop to grand avenue last february because his old location on 17th street was broken into six times. he was also robbed at gunpoint in front of the store. now with an uncertain future he's turning to the community for help on gofundme. it is not to replace the stuff stolen but to keep the lights on and keep his employees paid. >> i have employees. my son was like dad, i thought i was going to take over your store.

it's wrong for my things i believe in. i'm going to be ok eventually. reggie: according to our abc 7 neighborhood safety tracker, the latest available data from oakland police shows burglaries have been increasing since 2020 and have been spiking overall since 2018. kumasi: you could eventually be paying more for your commute. the metropolitan transportation commission is actively studying the idea of widespread tolling. that could mean adding tolls to all lanes of bay area freeways with is an existing and viable public transit option. in addition to that, the report proposes adding tolls to all major roads that are parallel the highways. that's an effort to limit drivers from trying to go around the tolls. the report looks and creating pricing in downtown san

francisco and san jose and that would charge an extra toll for drivers going into the most congested parts of the cities. >> shown to be perhaps the most effective way to meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets that are mandated by the state. kumasi: goodwin says if these proposals are ever implemented, it would be for well over a decade. reggie: in the south set to start soon on the long-awaited project to increase flood protection. it is stirring up controversy. the work will make improvements to a nine-mile stretch of coyote creek. in 2017, floodwaters devastated many neighborhoods. the goal is to keep that from happening again. up to 200 on housed people who live along coyote creek had to clear out for the work. some advocates say they understand the project has to be done but they say those people were not given proper alternatives.
