constitution and believe people have the right to express themselves but we also believe in law and order. the city of miami a safe and secure. jobina: trump is blaming his indictment on the weaponization of the justice department. he will return to make a speech and fundraiser tonight. abc 7, stay tuned. kumasi: this morning we are expecting a new report on inflation. the consumer price index has risen 4% which is a significant improvement. inflation is still historically high and higher than what the federal reserve wants to see. the federal reserve is expected

to weigh in on interest rates. it's expected to pause for the first time in more than a year. the historic rapid rate hikes of hot unexpected consequences. they blame the collapse of silicon valley and first republic on those banks and ability to adapt to the rates. reggie: the announcement that westfield is giving up its mall in downtown san francisco. it will remain open but city officials are left with another property that needs to be reimagined for the future. ryan curry joins us live from san francisco on what comes next. ryan: francisco's downtown recovery. westfield mall has operated here for 20 years but this announcement says they will no

longer operate this as they transition this back over to its lender. this comes after nordstrom announced it is closing its location in august. other stores like banana republic will be closing their locations in the mall. once the stores close, only about half of the space will be used. sales dropped from 455 million in 2019 to 219 million last year. it will be transferring management over to the lender who will appoint someone new to operate the mall. we spoke with the business times and bay area council who say this is a result of issues the city has been dealing with for a while. >> online shopping was increasing even before the pandemic. >> a lot of the problems we have, we had in similar and different forms for a long time.

ryan: francisco are doing well, it is just downtown that continues to struggle. mayor london breed said in a statement saying this is not surprising. her office has been in contact with westfield for a long time about the future of san francisco and where they stand and they did not have a future long-term in san francisco. they are now focusing on what to do with the future for that site in the future of downtown. kumasi: coming to the start defense an interview on fox news. the governor cited his days lead in business creation and tourism spending and he also pointed to california's fourth-largest

fundraiser this evening. in miami i am justin finch. reggie: san francisco officials are starting to figure out what is next for the westfield mall. the mall's operator announced it is giving up control as the occupancy continues to drop. ryan curry choices live with what mayor london breed is saying. ryan: mayor london breed gave this statement, she and her office are moving past this saying they are focused on what to do with the future of the site moving forward. for right now, operations of the mall are ongoing. talks with westfield have pointed to the conclusion that eventually, they would lead to a future where they are no longer operating in san francisco. they will soon only have half the retail space being used.
