confident that he will be convicted and he will spend the rest of his life in custody. dan: an elderly san jose couple was struck by a car and killed. tomorrow, the breaking into nancy pelosi's home and attacked her husband with a hammer is due back in court. he faces six charges, including attempted murder. tomorrow's hearing is about setting a trial date. assault and attempted kidnapping. ama: the oakland closer to getting what they want in las vegas. several log wrote the proposal change their votes today.

the pattern for some time now. fare evasion has been a problem. people do not pay, then muni does not collect the revenue and them the agency finds itself with the deficit. the problem is aggravated by the fact that there are not enough fair inspectors. less now than there were in 2019. we showed you how not paying to ride on muni has become somewhat of a common theme for some passengers. muni has budgeted for fewer inspectors than it did in 2019, 45 instead of 50. that does not mean there are actually 45 inspectors. in fact, only and only 23 active, meaning a few were on some kind of leave. we went to the chinatown muni

station to see if any inspectors were asking to see verification of payment and did not find a single one. here is what muni has experienced since 2019. a sharp decline in fare citations. the head of the agency says that is about to change. >> we can continue to how your in critical categories, including inspectors, parking control officers. the california legislature is expected to vote on saturday -- thursday to close the deficit gap on several transit systems, including muni, because ridership has yet to come back to pre-pandemic levels. the state is expected to provide half of what muni needs. >> it buys us time to figure out how do we close the other half

of the deficit. reporter: one way is to come up with the plant to make sure passengers pay the citation when they are caught. even in 2019, muni about half of citations issued. >> there is funding for robust inspectors and the reality is if you do not pay, you will end up paying a fine. >> if we want muni to we need to pay our fair share. reporter: when you do not pay the citation, it is sent to the treasurer's office and they will tag to collect the fine. -- try to collect the fine. if that does not work, it is sent to the tax board. but you can imagine that takes a long time to collect. they may or may not get their money. ama: thank you. dan: a lot of uncertainty

june in some parts of the bay area, like san jose where it is sitting at 69 degrees right now. from our oakland airport camera we are seeing some clouds on multiple levels. here is a look at the temperatures. novato 70, napa 68, 6 rosa. let's talk about the june high temperatures. san jose out of the 13 days we have seen 11 that have been below average. the above average is only on the third and the fourth of june. we will change that up. this sierra is looking at numerous showers and thunderstorms and those are produced in heavy rain. a flood advisory until 7:30 tonight. high pressure is going to come in. as a built in, we will see temperatures rising.
