it is friday, june 16. >> we are starting with a birthday forecast for the weekend. drew: the weekend is looking really nice. a live look outside from the exploratorium camera. we have morning clouds. we will find cloud cover breaking down pretty quickly. we see numbers generally in the mid and upper 50's. 60 in antioch. we are hanging onto some of that mild air we achieved yesterday afternoon. we will find temperatures pretty close to the june averages for this time of year. . the marine layer is breaking down across much of the region through 10:00 a.m. the only exception, today, we will have cloud cover cling to the coast line. yesterday, the coast saw a fairmont of sunshine. i don't think that happens today. stays pretty cloudy close to the ocean. away from the ocean, a lot of sunshine, partly cloudy conditions, temperatures close to average. 80's in warmer spots.

april after prosecutors say he shared sensitive military documents with friends through discord. the indictment reveals the information included the type of military hardware the u.s. was preparing to deliver to ukraine to assist in its defense against russia. there was also allegedly information that could have endangerede the lives of u.s. military members abroad. prosecutors say jack teixeira were sharing the information for a year before being arrested. superiors warned him at least twice to stop accessing information beyond the scope of his duties. if convicted on all counts, he would face up to 60 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. his family and attorney has declined to comment after the court hearing yesterday. amanda? amanda: new developments in the case our abc 719 has been covering extensively. after being accused in a murder for hire plot, 33-year-old delonzo logwood pleaded no

contest to voluntary manslaughter in alameda superior court yesterday. this case has become highly controversial for the alameda district attorney, pamela price, after her office dropped two murder charges against longwood earlier this month. a judge signed off on that decision in yesterday's deal. sentencing is set for next month. >> california>> lawmakers have passed a state budget but still have no spending deal with governor newsom. if the budget framework had not been approved yesterday, lawmakers would have stopped getting paid because the constitutional deadline. the chronicle is reporting they will continue to negotiate with of the governor on key issues like childcare and transit funding. governor newsom until june 30 two sign the budget. >> a proposal to cut money from early childcare and education programs to a crowd to salve -- or a crowd to san francisco city hall. >> show me what democracy looks like. >> hundreds gathered to protest mayor breed's cut to funding to

county fair will open up its doors today at noon. we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek inside before anybody else. fair officials were kind enough to turn on those lights for some of these rides. for many people, it is the food that brings them back here year after year. for others, it's the carnival rides. the fair will feature pig racing and horse racing. the fair has a lengthy lineup up a big artists performing throughout the summer. jesse mccartney will take the stage on june 21. ashanti will perform on june 22. e-40 will be performing on june 29. country star leanne rimes will take the stage on july 6, just to name a few. keep in mind, concert tickets do not include fair admission this year so if you plan to attend a concert, you still need to purchase a general admission fair ticket or season pass to access the fairgrounds. doors open at noon today.

>> on east bay movie theater has shut its doors for good after 88 years in business. the albany twin theater went dark last night. members of the community say this comes as a shock to them. some of them even left farewell notes. >> everybody is sad that we have talked to>>. i am not starting conversations. i have had people coming up to me saying, are they really closing? >> the albany twin is owned and operated by landmark theaters. the san francisco chronicle is reporting a landmark spokesperson says it is constantly evaluating its business strategy and has decided to close the albany twin. it is just one of many theaters in the bay area to close in recent years. yesterday was also the last day for the cinemark century at san francisco at the westfield mall. >> the new operators of san francisco's castro theater have cleared a major hurdle in their effort to revitalize the venue.

after the board of supervisors cleared the way for another planet entertainment to move the theater seats. the planning commission signed off as well yesterday. the seats have been a sticking point between ape and local residents. the commission approved a use permit for nighttime entertainment and films by means -- from strengths. ap will have toe's cultural district and submit a report to commission. >> there will be agent teen kickoff event at san francisco city hall i had of juneteenth on monday. mayor london breed will be speaking to kick off a weekend of community led celebrations. this event will have an emphasis on the evolution of black music. it's been cohosted by the sf human rights commission and the group wealth and disparities in the black community. check it out in the north light court from 12:00 p.m. to p.m. it is pride night at dodger stadium in los angeles and thousands of catholics planned

to be there and protest. the dodgers will honor the san francisco-based group sisters of perpetual indulgence with the community hero award. conservative catholics have condemned the word, sing the sisters mock religion. it's divided the catholic community. many others support the sisters and their work with the lgbtq+ community. >> i grew up catholic and i can understand any of the pushback. we are not a religious organization. we are not an anti-religious organization. >> after the initial backlash, the dodgers rescinded the invitation, but they reinstated it when democratic politicians and lgbtq+ groups intervened on the sisters' behalf. the giants are already in southern california ahead of the game. to members spent yesterday catching up with mickey and the crew at disneyland and california adventure. these images of players and their families were posted to the giants' instagram account. disney is the parent company of abc 7. >> on annual tradition is back

in san francisco for pride. volunteers are going to be sticking out the twin peaks hillside in preparation for the pink triangle installation. more than 600 people have signed to help out with this. setup starts tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. all are welcome to join. make sure you have gloves and a hammer. after that, mayor london breed will be joining officials and lgbtq organizations for a commemoration ceremony at 11:00 a.m. the pink triangle once used to brand suspected homosexuals in nazi concentration camps is now a symbol protest against homophobia. san francisco is celebrating pride with a parade. it is nine days away, sunday, june 25. abc 7 is a proud sponsor. watch the parade live on abc seven and on our bay area streaming app. the whole crew is going to be there. drew: we are starting to get our

everything starts at noon. disney and pixar's new now in theaters. >> "elemental" is set an element city, where fire, water, land and air live together. reggie went behind the scenes at pixar animation studios in emeryville to see how years of hard work brought wonder, humor and romance together. ♪ reggie: welcome to pixar's campus, a place where there is a furry monster at the front desk, a fashion diva at the fireplace, and a huge bo peep peeping her newest neighbors. it is "elemental," a story about these two main characters, a fiery woman and watery amn. how is that relationship going to work? >> elements don't mix. >> what is elemental about? >> fire character who are in love in element city. it is about her family being a fire family living in a city that's not made for fire people.

can she even allowed herself to fall in love with a water guy? >> make like a stream and flow somewhere else. >> rom, romance is really cool but there's this immigrant story underneath it. >> the city is not made with fire people in mind. >> it's>> something i've never seen before in animation. reggie: how long does it take to make? >> pixar originally pitched elemental seven years of, eight years ago. that's not the entire group working on the movie for that long. it goes through different stages. >> how are you doing? >> living the dream. reggie: you have seen "monsters," you have seen "incredibles the hardest thing to put together in a film, it would be fire and water. this is a major challenge. >> from a visual communication standpoint, they were very difficult to work with on their own. pairing them together into a scene was supercharging.

that crash we were following in mountain view has cleared. this is a live look in san jose showing off 101. we will bring you a new round of drive times. tracy to dublin dried now starting to slow -- dublin ride now starting to slow, 36 minutes. >> we are learning more about the dozens of migrants transported to southern california by texas governor greg abbott. 42 people entered the united states in texas, then were buster to los angeles earlier this week. gloria rodríguez joining us in the newsroom. governor abbott is promising that this is going to continue to happen. laura: he is. greg abbott tweeted a statement shortly after the migrants arrived in l.a., sing the overwhelmed border towns are on the front lines of president biden's border crisis and that texas will bust migrants to sanctuary cities like l.a. until he secures the border. a nonprofit in southern california coordinated food,

shelter and legal services for the migrants upon arrival at saint anthony's croatian catholic church. the church says all 42 migrants were processed and sent to other locations. some of the migrants are toddlers. they were not they were not provided food or drink's on the 23 hour long bus ride. jimmy gomez is calling for an investigation and questioning who is paying for the buses, if they are doing and under the direction of texas, and what they told the migrants. attorney general rob bonta sis's office is looking into that. >> the legality in question is an open one. we will go to wherever the facts and the law takes us. the moral question is clear. this is a morally bankrupt act, period, full stop, and of story. >> i feel like we need to take care of our own people that's here already, because then the

government starts giving them free stuff, and it comes out of our pocket. this country cannot handle that right now. >> that was somebody who lives near the church where the migrants arrived. obviously, this is very controversial. karen bass is among the city leaders to condemn greg abbott's move as a stunt while saying the city was prepared for it. the homeland security secretary is accusing greg abbott of using the migrants as political ponds and congregated -- political pawns and calling what he did shameful. the migrants have court dates to seek asylum in the u.s. abc 7 news. >> some bay area jewish organizations are introducing new safety protocols amid a rise in anti-semitic incidents across the state. more anti-semitic incidents are expected to occur in 2023 then in previous years by the anti-defamation league. last year. , numerous communities saw anti-jewish flyers distributed. earlier this year, a man fired blank rounds inside a jewish community center in san francisco.

that's one reason the jewish community federation, an endowment fund, is expanding its safety training program accosts -- across northern california. >> the federation has a unique vantage point in the whole community, not just in the bay area but throughout northern california. >> in 2022, the organization gave 35 active shooter training stood 1500 people in jewish organizations across the bay area. california's hate hotline received 180 reports in the first month since it was launched, including 28 from the bay area. race and ethnicity were the most reported biases, followed by religion and sexual orientation. most reports came from individuals who were targeted. nearly half accept ongoing support. they took place in nearly 40% of california counties. . state officials launched the hotline in response to a spike in hate crime in california. if you need help, california versus hate can be reached at833-8-no-hate.

i hear this is one of our more popular events. what do you think brings so many people to come see these little baby pigs running around? >> i think racing is a slowly becoming a more special sport than it was. it is harder to find actually good races, as well as ones that are happy, silly, and enjoyable in a way that you can bring the whole family. we definitely like to spread smiles and have a good time and have little tricks up our sleeves, too. jobina: so some soup -- lena: so some surprises. >> these pigs are surprising definitely. lena: how many total pigs can we expect to see at any given race? >> usually about eight. sometimes, we could have more, sometimes we could have us. we have eight pigs of four oer r ace and they are all superstars. lena:lena: speaking of those superstars, i heard that they are already awake with us. >> we did wake them up and got
