>> more than a year after alexis gave vanished a sense of closure for her joining us. you are watching abc seven news 11. alexis games family held a memorial for her tonight giving the public one last chance to say goodbye. the family had been waiting until all of the 24-year-old oakley woman's remains were located. abc seven news spoke with her family says tonight service was about not only reflecting but also moving forward. >> now met with closure, the family of alexis game prepared to lay her to rest tonight as they held

a memorial. >> it has been a tough few months for us. but i am just bring her home. >> gave was last seen leaving her boyfriend's house in late january of 2022, her car was found in oakley but she was missing. police believe her boyfriend marshall curtis jones killed her, please killed him as they were serving him an arrest warrant in washington of june of last year. a tip in november led investigators to her remains in amador county outside sacramento. now with her remains back in the family's possession they are choosing to remain their favorite -- or member their favorite moments together. >> she is kind with a bubbly personality. she is very funny. she is a jokester of the family. she likes to make fun of everyone especially her mom. >> doesn't shut up that the funeral home in concord to pay their respect to gabe and her family. the memorial is open to the

public. the community support has helped them to the most difficult time in their life. >> they have been a sense of support, people to lean on, some people have gone through similar things and so having them, having people who know or get it has been very helpful. >> the family says the focus now turns to finding justice for alexis. they want charges filed against jones and his mother for helping her son cover up leaves merthyr. >> we are not done trying to get that justice for her. we are going to be battling this in court. >> on monday there will be a funeral procession starting here at this memorial home and ending at that castro valley crematorium. gabe family says anyone can join in that procession but only the family will be allowed inside the crematorium. they say they want alexis all to themselves on her final day. in concord abc 7 news. >> in the north bay a wildfire in the -- napa county is

contained. cal fire says it's crews are busy shoring up containment lines and putting out hotspots. the fire started last night and so far has burned 103 acres but no buildings have been damaged or destroyed. the cause is still under investigation. in the east bay contra costa fire protection helped residents there prepare for wildfire season. special fire town hall taught about planning for evacuations and what to do after a fire. there was a special emphasis on preventative efforts spotlighting the importance residents doing their part. >> it has been proven repeatedly that fire districts and or fire departments up-and-down the state can do everything within their means and their power and their legal authority but the reality is that we cannot be successful if we do not have the collaboration and partnership with individual citizens. not the community as a whole, which is important, but individual citizens.

program. san francisco's beacon of hope in honor of pride month is shining bright on twin creeks. the installation of the pink triangle was completed earlier today, 450 volunteers laid out 175 bright pink tarps to form the shape of a triangle. that symbol was once used to brand people suspected of being gay in nazi concentration camps. now the pink triangle is a symbol of protest against homophobia. >> leave it up to san francisco to take a symbol of hatred and turn it into something that means something more than that. that means something celebratory in nature. >> the triangle installation today included a special dedication ceremony featuring the lesbian gay freedom band and the country's first-ever drag laureate. this is the first year since 2010 that the city has had a brand-new triangle. >> we are the only city in the world that has a giant pink

is sunday this year is particularly special for one bay area family. the sun donated part of his liver to his father. abc 7 news reporter suzanne sat down with the two men to talk about this lifesaving gift. >> literally there is a part of me and him just as there is a part of him in me. it >> he gave his that a life-changing gift. >> i donated the right lobe to my father in this is what remains in me. how lucky are we that the liver is something that completely regenerates? >> he happens to be the mayor of san pablo and shared his story on tiktok. back in 2021 doctors that his father was ill and needed a new liver. >> manwell had liver disease from fatty liver disease. he had a condition whe liver built up too much fat and then he developed cirrhosis from that and that is why he needed the liver transplant. >> he was put on a transplant list but it was going to be a

long wait. >> i learned about being a living donor and part of being a living donor as you can expedite the process for someone to receive a transplant. >> for that to happen he learned he had to lose weight. >> i started eating better, i started exercising more regularly. >> in three months he lost more than 50 pounds and to get ready to receive an organ his father -- >> he had lost about 50 pounds after his stomach stapling surgery. >> ucf doctors say it took a lot of work but in organ transplant was possible. >> at ucf we do about a hundred transplants a year and about 25 of those 150 air from living donors. >> manuals surgery was a success , he is grateful for that team of surgeons at ucsf and is grateful for his son. >> it saved my life. >> abel says it is the best gift he could have given his father.
